《Zanaria Online》Chapter 8: Ragan's Legacy
Advertisement
In the middle of a desert, where there was nothing but sand and mobs; Rina and the other’s were grinding.
Decima now has two mob clearing skills, Nona was doing a great job healing, and Ragus was safely dealing damage from the sky.
The three were doing a good job, except for Rina who wasn’t needed in the mob clearing. Decima’s explosion-lightning slash combo is enough to kill most the mobs that she pulls. Ragus takes care of those that are left.
All Rina does is stay with Nona, supply them with mp potions, and toggle the aggression control.
“All done master” Said Decima with her usual expressionless face and waving tail.
Rina activated aggression control, gave Decima and Nona mp potions, and walked on the desert looking for mobs.
Without the need to finish a quest, they were just going back and fort from two grinding spots.
When they finish clearing one spot, they’ll go to the other, killing the next set of mobs and waiting for the mobs on the first spot to respawn.
When they got to the other spot, while Rina was busy doing nothing, a screen appeared.
Incoming call from: Kiting101
ANSWERIGNORE
Since she’s not needed, she answered while the others were busy.
‘Heh, my mercenaries are wizards now.’
‘Congratulations’
‘Muahaha, I’ll be heading to that zone now’
‘That’s great’
‘The skills of my mercenaries can clear a lot of mobs in an instant, so I’ll catch up to your level shortly’
‘Hahaha, so what’s your level now?’
‘Im still thirty three, if we didn’t do the job change quest I would be thirty four right now’
‘I’m thirty seven now’
‘WHAT? you were thirty four earlier right? You gained three levels when I only gained two? I know I did the job change quest, but still...’
‘All thanks to the exp boost. Good luck on catching up’
‘Waaaa!’
Rina ended the call, slightly chuckling at Kiting101’s reaction. On the same moment the call ended, the others were finished clearing the mobs.
She stared at the time as they grinded, and once she saw it was 7:50 am, she logged off.
___
She woke up a bit early, so she stayed on the bed and waited for Sebas, who showed up on time.

“It seems you’re in a good mood again Rina-sama.”
“My friend’s reactions are just too funny.”
“I’m glad you’re enjoying yourself.”
After taking a bath and eating breakfast, she stayed in the lounge. It was her free day, so she doesn’t have to train.
Sebas who was staying with her said. “Since it’s your free day, why not play some more?”
“It’s only a few hours before lunch, and I shouldn’t play before dinner.”
“Could I ask why Rina-sama?”
“...If I start, it’ll be hard to stop. So I need to restrain myself. I should only play from 8:00 or 9:00 pm to 8:00 am. Besides, Ren might come out while I’m playing in the afternoon.”
“Ohoho, in the end, it’s still about sir Ren.”
“So what? You know I like him. Sigh, if he only looked at me more than his androids...”
“Ohoho, why not dress as an android?”
“Didn’t I already try that before? Once I took the android suit off, he became uninterested.”
“Y-you did?”
“Weren’t you the one who suggested it?”
“I-I see, I guess ol-...my age is starting to affect my mind. But I’m not old, more like middle age, ok?”
“Geezer”
“Rina-sama, please act more ladylike.”
“What’s wrong with calling an old man a geezer?”
“Ahem, as I told you, I’m a middle aged man, I’m not old yet.”
“If seventy eight is called middle aged, then should I call myself a teen?” Rina smirked.
“Rina-sama, you shouldn’t joke about a man’s age.”
“Isn’t it women who are supposed to be moody when it comes to age?”
“Rina-sama, I’ll tell sir Ren that you were the one who broke F0-47.”
“W-wait, I’m sorry......grandfather, pft.” Said Rina as she ran out of the lounge.
Rina’s actions were too childish for her age, and Sebas was dragged to her pace and ran after her like an angry child.
The day was spent with Rina spending time with Sebas, like any other day she had before. Despite it being repetitive at times, she doesn’t get bored spending time with her butler; her grandfather.

Whe she logged in, she resumed their level grinding and a few moments later, she received a call from Kiting101.
‘Heh, I’m thirty six now’
‘EH? Don’t tell me you-‘
‘I did, I ate lunch and dinner, but I logged in as soon as I ate, of course to catch up’
‘Sigh, you shouldn’t spend all your time playing...’
‘Don’t worry, I only did it today because of the exp boost, and of course catch up to you muahaha!’
‘Sigh, you really think you’ll catch up?’
‘What?’
‘Muahaha! You’ll never catch up!’
‘Don’t copy my laugh-‘
Rina ended the call and continued grinding. She only said it as a joke, but further thinking about it, Rina got excited. She’s starting to think that she has to make sure Kiting101 doesn’t catch up.
Though the hype didn’t last long. She does like the idea of fighting over levels, but since she’s literally just standing as party does the work, she lost motivation. Her class is not the type to help in mob clearing after all.
While grinding in the desert, they were hit with a sandstorm. Though it did nothing but irritate them. Since they can’t grind yet, Rina gave them potions to heal themselves.
They’re vision in the desert got reduced drastically, but with it came a special mob.
Name:Baby Desert Wyvern(Special Mob)Level:17HP100%
Special mobs are a lot weaker than mobs of an area, but give either a lot of exp or rare accessories, though it’s extremely rare. Just like any mob or boss, the drops are random.
Each zone has one special mob, but it only respawns once a month, so it’s not something one can easily encounter. In fact, it’s almost impossible to find one.
Rina was overwhelmed with delight as she saw a special mob not long after she started playing the game. She instantly used weapon throw and dash.
Name:Ragan’s LegacyType:RingQualityMythicalEffect:+5% critical rate, +25% critical damageDurability100%
In her time in the beta version, she encountered two special mobs. One gave a lot of exp, and one gave a rare accessory. But none could compare to what she got now.
Not only is it the highest quality accessory, the effects are even perfect for her class. It was like she was fated to acquire it.
Still in the middle of a sand storm, she wore the ring and checked her stats.
Name:MortaRace:FairyLevel:37Class:AssassinGuild:N/ATitle:[Elite Rogue]RAW STATSRemaining Point(s)0Strength:38Agility:186Intelligence:1STATSHP:418/418MP:164/164Fame:0Attack:616Defense:319Fire Resistance:0%Magic Attack:1Magic Defense:160Cold Resistance:0%Hit Rate:132.2%Evasion:28.6%Earth Resistance:0%Critical Rate:24.3%Block Rate:0%Lightning Resistance:0%Critical Damage:235%Movement Speed:112.5%Wind Resistance:0%
A smile appeared on her face as she looked at her stats. Her mercenaries noticed the smile and also became happy for their master.
Even with her money, it would be hard to get, so Rina was truly happy, but whenever one gains something, he/she loses something in return.
With their vision still limited by the sandstorm, they heard a loud cry, no, it was not a cry, it was a ferocious roar, loud enough to momentarily paralyze all of them.
Soon, the sandy ground beneath them vibrated and they saw a silhouette of a lizard at the size of a human then it became larger, and larger, and larger, until they finally saw it.
It was a lizard with brown scales, with sharp claws and fangs, but unlike normal lizards, it had wings, and it was large. It was as tall as a four story building, and it was as wide as a soccer field.
Name:Desert Wyvern(Hidden Boss)Level:78HP100%
The wyvern roared, stopping the sandstorm, and paralyzing the whole party. It hit Rina with its arm, pushing her away.
While in midair, Rina used weapon throw and weapon dash, then used assault the moment she appeared near the wyvern. The weapon throw and all three hits of assault all miraculously dealt critical damage, but it didn’t make Rina happy.
Name:Desert Wyvern(Hidden Boss)Level:78HP99%
The wyvern waved it’s thick and powerful arms to Rina.
Her evasion kicked in, but the wyvern’s attack created sharp winds that reached the other party members.
She immediately checked the party screen.

“Nona heal yourself quickly! Then use empower on yourself! Ragus cover her but don’t attack! Decima come closer and get the wyvern’s attention!”
Dungeon bosses and hidden bosses prevent players from logging out, so their only choice was to fight or to run away, but with the monster’s size, it’ll be hard to outrun it.

Demons Don't Lie
Algier, average human and recent convict, has committed the gravest sin of all: demon slaying. His fate? To participate in the Culling, a battle-royale style tournament that’s televised live to the world, where all the worst criminals go to die. As with all tournaments, a prize is on the line. If Algier survives, he can have any wish granted by the Marquises, the new rulers of Earth following the demons’ invasion. However, there’s little hope for survival in a tournament designed to have demons do the work of the executioner, especially for a human. Demons are stronger, faster, wiser, and more talented than the average human, and, despite his crime, Algier is no demon hunter. Mentally defeated before the tournament even begins, Algier is torn between becoming another demon’s points and fighting on in his dead mother’s legacy. But should he choose to fight, there is one advantage that Algier has that can tip the odds in his favour: Demons don’t lie, but humans can. How to read this story Demons Don't Lie is written from the perspective of an unreliable (lying) narrator. There are many inconsistencies within the story which are placed there intentionally. It's up to the reader to decide what is the truth and what is the lie. Promotion Full quality cover image

New Paris [a Modern-day LitRPG]
New Paris [OR] I reincarnated into the world of my favorite wuxia novel as an S ranker with unbalanced skills. [Volume 1] - Completed I was one of those people who only stood out in a crowd when their name was called. Then, I died. But instead of heaven, hell, or anything else, I found myself in the body of a young woman whom I did not recognise at first. You see, I had this novel I was obsessed with. The novel was a fairly popular wuxia that got a few sequels, and a handful of spinoffs. One of these spinoffs took place in Paris, where the main cast fought against a multi-millionaire villain. When I woke up after dying, I eventually realised that I was now the third daughter of this multi-millionaire end-game boss in a spin-off of a sequel of my favourite novel. Does this make any sense to you? Because it doesn't to me. But I guess I might as well make the most of it now. Just gotta stay away from some of the more unstable main characters and cut all ties with my 'family' to avoid certain death. [Volume 2] - Currently Airing It had not been a good idea to interfere with the characters of the original novel. Had I known it was going to cause a butterfly effect, I would have stayed in my lane and minded my business. Although, between the suspicious attacks I seem to constantly find myself in the center of, and my 'family' who is the living definition of the expression 'rich pricks', I’m not entirely sure my current predicament would have been avoidable. But maybe it isn't to be avoided; maybe I should embrace this opportunity that has been given to me and become the hero of this story? At least it's certain that I can't do worse than the original protagonist in terms of moral ambiguity; with immortality already in my pocket, and no other useful skills to account for. However, if I were to follow this path, I would have a lot to lose, including an upcoming promotion and my growing relationship with my crush. With power, glory and whatever else on one side, and my wellbeing and happiness on the other, even in this magical wuxia world, the choice is easy to make.
