POV: The Depressed God of Reincarnation

¨Well well well.... This is interesting, so so interesting.¨

The god of Reincarnation, or more affectionately called Rein, had a very boring job. He had to approve each and every soul that passed by, seeing whether they should stay in the cycle of reincarnation and where they should go for their the next life. At first, at the dawn of time, it was exciting. Seeing the lives and experiences; The trials and insights. What others feel and see. However, it didn't last long. It quickly got depressing and boring to see so many close minded, cruel and petty existences. Since he wasn't a powerful god, he couldn´t choose what he wanted to be the god of, so all he could hope for was a lucky encounter. and so it came one day millennia after the great calamity.

¨So, it seems that since the souls of earth are all advanced electric type, rather than attributeless, and that creates this interesting possibility!¨

His eyes alight with hope, he couldn´t believe his good luck, of all the things to happen, this was truly unexpected.

¨It seems we have a new Highlord in the making. Heheheh I can't wait to see how those self-loving, attention whores react when this future Highlord drops onto their radars.¨

What made him so happy you might ask? Well, it was a certain soul of a deceased High schooler who died in a parculiar manner. Jason, a videogame loving, average reality hating boy was killed due to a power surge in his Nerve Capsule. What made it special was that inadvertently every Dive System linked into their soul, unknown to delevopers and users alike, because of the electric attribute soul, a trait particular to earth dwellers. When the surge happened, it merged his avatar, which was of an electric attribute obviously and stored in the memory bank of the capsule, and his soul together, which also was an electric attribute. What made this even more special was the fact that his avatar was in possession of one of the three cheat items the developers implemented, The Limitless Ring. Meaning that the ring had fused with his literal essence.

To be honest, as a High God, Rein should've been much more powerful, however he wasn't able to grow more powerful because there wasn't any gain from just observing, unless you were the High God of Knowledge. That lucky bastard...

¨As a proper high god, I should restrict anything that would disrupt the power of the high gods... But where is the fun in that? I've waited too long for this.¨ Rein smirked as he chuckled softly. ¨Hey Jason, Jason wake up...¨

POV: Random Soul, Jason the Basic Reality Hater

¨Hey Jason, Jason wake up...¨

Ugh, where am I?

Jason thought as he groggily woke up.

¨WAKE THE FUCK UP YOU STUPID SOUL!!!!! I WILL NOT ACCEPT WAITING ETERNITY, LITERALLY, TO BE DENIED BY A DEAD PERSON!!!¨ A disimbodied voice shouted.

As any normal human would, this shocked the living hell out of Jason.

¨Who is it?!?!?!¨ A frightened cry from Jason's intangible body rang out.

¨It´s waaaaayyy too much work for me to explain in detail, but the gist is your sorry virgin ass got killed, you are now dead, dead you can become alive you, alive you can become a Highlord, which is an existence that can refuse to obey the laws of reality, said Highlord alive you can help me become something other than a joke amongst the gods. So does that clarify it?¨ The mysterious, and childish male voice said.

Unsurprisingly, Jason was more confused than he had ever been in his life, he just couldn't understand this guy's ridiculous story and the weird way he just spoke. It was like a parent talking to a little child explain some difficult concept.

¨Ok... So I am dead... But I can live again and I can become something above the gods?..........¨ Jason tried to piece the confusing information together and sum it up, albeit in a very slow and confused way. Being dead and then told you can rule gods is not an easy thing to wrap your head around.

¨YES! Thank you for understanding! now fuse with me, the High God of Reincarnation so I can get out of this hellish place, I will give you the necessary mana to use the wish function of the ring.¨ Rein spoke in an irritated and impatient manner.

¨Wait! What the hell are you talking about?!?!¨ Jason replied angrily. ¨I DON´T UNDERSTAND A THING!!!¨

¨Wish for understanding then!¨ The swift retort of the High God of Reincarnation came.

Contrary to what any sane person would do, Jason decided to give it a try.

He thought in a skeptical manner. As soon as he wished for it, a notification popped up which surprised him to say the least.

Even more confused and irritated Jason just wished for all of the knowledge.

The sudden realization of what that message meant made him panic to say the least. What the heck?!?! Catastrophic soul failure and implosion of my memory retention?!?! What the hell is going on?!?!? As soon as he could breathe calmly, yes even as a soul old habits die hard, he decided on no for obvious reasons.

FINALLY! It says something that makes sense! Jason thought ecstatically.

"Ye-" Right as he was about to say yes, a sudden thought struck him. If he could die from just information, couldn't it cause pain as well?

Without him even having to ask, another notification popped up.

answering with an affirmative, almost immediately he was greeted with a ding! and a window that was significantly larger than the ones previously.

[Wish Mode]: Wish Granted: Knowledge (Relevant to Circumstance)

This included "The Limitless Ring". Which is currently contructing this message. The limitless Ring as you might know is a cheat support item that has limitless possibilities, easily understood by the name of said object. With the ring in your possession, your soul was going through the cycle of reincarnation when Rein, the High God Of Reincarnation, noticed the abnormality and pulled your soul out so he can make a bargain. He, in return for your memories to be retained and abnormal luck given to you, requests passage to the outside and a chance at becoming truly powerful. Rein, who used to be a mortal, clawed his way up to High God status, only to be tricked at the end and stuck forever at the lowest position possible. As the High God of reincarnation, he is but a step away from the Highlord of Fate position, which is currently unocuppied. However ever since [?????????] it has been impossible to reach that title. If you help him, there is a 99.9999% chance he can reach Highlord status with his talent and willpower. it is recommended to become allies with him and become friends if possible, he is loyal and would be a valuable asset. However the decision is left to the user.

As soon as Jason finished reading, he was greeted with a cough from Rein.

"So, I'm guessing you have recieved all the knowledge you need, have you decided on whether or not you will accept my request?..."

Ding! As soon as Rein finished talking, a window popped up.

After thinking it over for a second, he decided that it was basically the only option if he wanted to stay himself. Which he did, like any normal person would.

Notification: User has accepted Rein's offer, [soul fusing] will begin momentarily.

"HAHAHAHA FINALLY!!!" Cackled a Rein drunk on happiness. "I'll make them pay for the millennia I've spent suffering their mocking and humiliation!"

That was the last thing Jason heard before he slipped away into the darkness.
