《I Need Time》10

The first thing that I see when I open my eyes is the clear blue sky, just a little past morning by the position of the sun, then the forest canopy as far as the eye can see and the trees have green leaves so I can be at ease for now, hopefully this planet is not too strange for my comfort. We are a few hundred meters high, standing on the edge of a cliff on a nearly vertical mountain face. I take a few deep breaths, feel the sunlight on my skin. I can not stop myself from smiling. After a few minutes of taking in the scenery I turn around to face Kate, my smile freezes. As my eyes are met with hers and her expression I can only describe with the words 'mischievous child' I can already take a guess what will happen next.
*Kate starts sprinting towards Anton who is on the edge of the cliff face, Anton has enough time to lift one foot before his second foot is already off the ground. Kate has Anton in a tight hug.*
*A few kilometers away in the forest, an elf gathering berries stands up, perks her ears as she hears a sound that only an animal on its deathbed would make. She wonders what kind of predator would force its prey to make such a sound and can not stop a shiver going up her spine.*
*Returning to Anton.*
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA"
*50 meters before they hit the forest canopy, wings appear on the dragoness and mana swirls under her wings, their free fall stops almost immediately and transitions into a graceful glide 10 meters above the canopy. Whilst her passenger is paralyzed from fear and is clinging on for his dear life.*
After a few minutes of not experiencing free fall, I decide to open my eyes to see that we are gliding over the forest. As beautiful as this moment is supposed to be I can only think about the fact that the fear removal spell has not messed up my sense of fear permanently, or cases of near death experiences are exceptions... But that is not important, what is important, I need to get away from this crazy dragon woman at all costs!

"I was right, you enjoy scaring me to death!"
"I did not know... until you mentioned it."
"Can we walk rest of the way?" As I finish speaking we are already falling to the ground, I tense up and brace for impact. At the last second we stop, Kate removes me from herself and drops me from a meter high onto the ground. I did not enjoy the drop nor the pain so I lay on the ground questioning my existence for half a minute before Kate speaks to me.
"Lets go, or I will leave you here."
I can not help but smile, and do absolutely nothing.
A minute passes by and my smile freezes as my foot is lifted up and I am dragged on the ground. I start to kick and I yell out: "Alright, I am going, no need to be so rough." I am set free after a few seconds, so I stand up, I pat myself off and notice my anti dirt enchantment works marvelously. I set the color of my clothes to dark green which grants me a mildly surprised look from the dragoness. I smile with a bit of pride and walk up to her as she turns around, already with a neutral look on her face. As we walk I do a few stretches to relieve my body from the previous experience.
"Are we close to the elven city?"
"Yes."
"How long until we get there?"
"Minutes"
My excitement grows as we walk, but I remember that I can not speak with anybody as I do not know the language, only high rank mages will be able to communicate with me via telepathy, this dampens my mood somewhat.
"Have you been here often?"

"A few times."
"So our presence would not be uninvited?" My question is met with silence.
We continue walking for half an hour...
As we come up to a City? Nope, it is a village with just a bunch of giant tree houses interconnected via rope bridges, we are surrounded by elves. Visually the elves look like slender humans a head shorter than me with pointy ears, light skin color with some light tones of different forest colors. For example: pale light green or pale with a light tone of brown. Looking at their hair, I see light silver, whitish, light blonde, blonde and even light brown hair. Their eyes follow the same pattern of bright forest colors with some cases of light blue, light brown.
The elves around us can be classified into 2 groups, spearmen and bowmen. The spearmen have thick cloth armor interwoven with metal plates on the torso, metal strips woven into the forearms and lower legs and padding in other important places such as the knees and elbows. They do not seem to be fans of leather armor, but who knows how strong that thick cloth is, I am already thinking of how to ask for a sample for experimentation. I do not see any enchantments (different mana level than ambient) on the armor and I see a very weak enchantments on the bows and spears. The bowmen is a lighter version of spearmen without any metal. The elves recognise the dragoness and by their manner of conversation they respect her a great deal. Another thing that caught my attention was the manner with which she talks, it holds pride and authority. Not understanding their conversation, I have no option but to wait. At one point an elf does a minor gesture towards me, she gives a short answer and walks off. I intend to follow but then freeze in my tracks as I see pointed bows and spears at me. I slowly lift my hands up and smile.
I am escorted to a prison at ground level. Here I am laying on the ground looking at a wooden ceiling of my new home for an undefined time. I do not know if Kate told them to lock me up or she did not care or any other thing that could have entered her whimsical head. I let out a sigh and close my eyes. It seems there are no magic users here but who knows, maybe only higher up positions poses magic abilities. It is too early for me to break out using magic as I do not know the reason for my imprisonment. I let out a long breath and close my eyes.

Limitless Adaptation
Jamie, 19, was walking into the kitchen for dinner when he suddenly found himself walking down a street in another world, a world with a game system. There, he meets a half-dragon, half-human named Adam, who faces adversity in most places, because of his parentage, and not long after they meet, the two of them are forced to leave town, due to Adam's beast nature. In the world of Tielmar, there are species of all varieties, a Class exists for nearly everything, and Skills come in quite a few forms. Jamie starts off with a Skill called "Limitless Adaptation", which supposedly allows him to adapt to any need, but is it really as powerful as it sounds? And more importantly - can it help him survive in a world where his first friend is a reject in all communities? Will Jamie, Adam, and the other friends and teammates they make in their journey find peace, allies, and love? Or will they fall to the powerful Adventurers that soon begin to hunt their team, to claim the bounties on several of its members, a bounty Jamie himself quickly finds on his own head? All of Book 1 is now posted, and Limitless Adaptation is officially done with the decision to rewrite. Credits for the cover go to me. That duck decided it wanted to nest in the flowerpot in front of my bank, so I took a picture of it.
