《Two Brothers》08: Questions

"To the north the great mountain ridge, the main population center is The Highland Clan, on its vicinity small Log villages make up the entirety of the Human settlements, A tribal society, with a Matriarch and a Patriarch as main Heads of the villages they breed tall and strong, creating the mightiest melee fighters of the kingdom. Rarely involved in the trivial matters of the kingdoms of the Coasts and hills they keep to themselves and wage bloody wars against the mountain Dwarves and the Terrifying Frost Orcs.
The Coast or "Newland" as called by the first settlers is under the rule of the Firsteman Kings, an adopted last name that the first Ruler of the Big Settlements took. This settlements became cities, with the capital being Letterport, an giant fortress like city with stone walls as tall as five men standing on top of each other, and as thick as a house.
the Great Planes are under the rule of the Antorax Royal family exiles at first from Newland they settled and prospered and in less than a century they became a mighty power to be weary off. It's name is The Kingdom of Veggrfields translated from the old tongue it would mean "the borderland fields", this kingdom economy spins around their constant military campaigns against the "Savages" to reclaim more land for the Kingdom. The fertile land that the planes provide has attracted many peasants with nothing to lose to emigrate and take a pice for themselves, so its free for everyone, and the only payment required is a part of the yield that you have to pay as taxes. This land is the most rewarding but also the most dangerous one since there is plenty of monsters roaming the country side.
Many non affiliated Villages populate the Borderlands between the vast wilderness. and the kingdoms. mostly undisturbed by the Kings and often raided by the natives. It is a cruel life being part of the Free Folk, but they do not bare the burden of being under the rule of Kings or other Nobles."

"How do you speak our language?!" Jack had put away his knifes and was holding the Goblin by the shoulders shaking him
"i do not knows what you mean master" the Goblin muttered scared shitless, tears forming on the edge of his eyes. confused about the question
"ENGLISH! HOW CAN YOU SPEAK ENGLISH YOU MUTT!?!?" Jack screamed in to the Goblin's face, some of his saliva was launched with every word
"we do not speaks... Engrish my lord... we speaks common... tongue" the goblin muttered while shaking not understanding the situation
"that is enough" Brandon put his hand on his brother's shoulder. Jack released the goblin who fell down and hit the floor. Jack massaged his temples and went to wash his face with fresh water from the river. Brandon picked up the goblin and dragged him near the forest edge, he let the goblin take a seated position against a tree. hand and feet still tied together, he could not move

"I suppose you have a name" Brandon asked the Creature while looking at him from above.
"Crug" the Goblin muttered while shaking his head up and down confirming the assumption.
Brandon Grinned while he squat down, he made sure to show his pearl white teeth to the goblin, as sign of aggression between animals, which he suspected goblins also had.
"Ok Crug, now you are going to answer all our questions, if we consider or even suspect that you are lying or that you are not fully honest. You will die" said Brandon while taking out his pocket knife and showing the sharp blade to the Goblin. Bosco was standing next to him and started snarling at the goblin who cringed at the sight of the dog's sharp fangs. He already knew how painful a bite from the canine was.
"What is "common tongue?" asked Brandon, jack was standing behind him, he already finished washing his face and he had calmed down
"Common tongue are a mix of Old Humans tongue and moderns elvish my lord, It's useful and used by most races this days as a seconds tongue" the goblin said with a shaking voice
Brandon got up and whispered something to his brother, they both nodded and he squatted once again next to the Goblin
" Modern Elvish as in Elves? you mean human like tall and blonde with pointy ears?" Brandon did not seemed amused, he as asking a serous question
the goblin shook his head up and down agreeing with the statement "not only blondes my lord, they gots silver hair like the moon, red as fire, blacks as night and brown as tree's bark, there are diferents kind of elves my lord" the goblin said more calmed down now
Brandon massaged the bridge of his nose, this was going to be a long conversation.
By the end of the evening they have gathered many useful information.
Crug was what the local Humans called an "Orc variant" smaller and lighter than regular orcs who where on average 6 feet tall and of muscular build, he was part of a sub species, he was an exiled Goblin (and yes, they decided to keep calling him a Goblin), kicked out of their village that was situated a week on foot to the north, he was exiled because they considered him clumsy and a trouble maker, truly a Jarjar binks origin story.
The woods around them where dangerous, and the Owlbear the killed on their second night was not the worst that populated them. Flocks of Harpys, Orcs, Worgs, Orgres, Trolls, Forest giants, Cockatrices, Basilisks, Faye, Elves, Isectoids that differed in sizes, from spiders as big as Bosco to 40 feet long giant centipedes, if you can imagine it you name it.

Seems like Crug was never in this parts, their goblin villagers never ventured this far south, only the warriors, and since he was an exile he just kept walking until he found our sacks full of juicy fresh meat and decided to have a feast.
Crug also told them that if they headed East, in a few months (he said between one and two months on foot) they would find The Green sea as he called it, they thought he meant grass fields. His village had stories that Humans like the two of us had their cities there.
It was a long journey. A long term plan impossible to reach right now.
They where not heartless and they understood Crug's situation, but they where not in a position that allowed them to show charity, sitting some 20 feet away from the tied down goblin the brothers where having a discussion
"So you just want to release him?" Brandon asked his brother, perplexed
"I'm not saying that. but i also don't want his blood on my hands. he is not a mindless killing beast like the Owlbear, he can talk and think, he experiences fear and he already been abandoned by his people, what are you suggesting? killing him in cold blood?" Jack seemed annoyed and upset, his brows frowned as he spoke
"No i don't mean cut his throat, but we cant just cut him lose and give him a pat on the back "there you go buddy, no bad blood between us" can we?" Brandon reiterated
"ok. i will deal with it." Jack barked, he got up and grabbed his Greenwood club. Brandon sat and watched how his brother Knocked out the scared goblin, picked him up and went towards the river after switching the club for the Stone spear
"i will be back in a few hours" Jack walked up the river to a more shallow part, half of the way he walked while keeping the unconscious Goblin's head out of the water and using the spear shaft as a walking stick, the other half he shimmed on his back similar to the way Life Guards do when carrying an unconscious person, shortly after he disappeared in to the forest on the other side of the river.
Brandon did not knew if they made the right choice, he suspected that Jack will leave the goblin somewhere deep inside the forest before releasing him and then backtrack to where they where. he trusted his brother's skills. there was something bugging him though. He started to suspect that the two titles he refused to talk about had something to do with this situation, in one way or the other. Blood Sworn and Peace Finder. maybe that is why he was reluctant to kill that goblin, Peace Finder seemed the most logical choice. Probably it appealed to his morals and made him reluctant to kill innocent creatures.
Brandon went in to the forest and started collecting fibrous grass and other materials to make rope, they will need it for their settlement.
By the time Jack returned it was almost dark.
Brandon had collected wood for the fire, and a good load of other materials for the temporary shelter tonight.
