《Pink Mage》126, War is hell, PT. 3

The battle was in full swing. “Ready op. Launching!” Screamed the commander as the soldiers formed a line, braced, and were summarily launched on what was effectively a mountain turned battering ram/transport. It smashed through the lines launching soldiers friend and foe alike before depositing itself in the midst of the enemy line. The soldiers quickly disembarked, charged at the enemy soldiers, no through the enemy soldiers and moved on. These ‘transports’ in some shape or form, some water, some literal tornadoes, earth being the favorite, have been launching continuously through the lines all day. The enemy was trying to outflank but the maneuver was practically pointless at this point as the allied forces were already fighting on all sides anyway.
But they charged ahead valiantly and desperately. Because the legate wanted, no, needed a win. If he simply had one win, he could justify his actions. He could justify the losses and the investments. He could make daddy proud, but if you said that to his face your head would go flying.
Micky was currently fleeing for his life. Because he was still on the wings. He had still formed a close trifecta with Maymay and whatshisname. Micky literally couldn’t remember because that was one of his innate skills. A terrible skill but Micky understood it ran in the family. Of course, Micky couldn’t remember him as whashisname, that had happened when he wanted to call him… oh what’s the word? Ends with face? Can’t remember, anyway.
Micky was jumping and dodging as best he could. The battlefield was chaos and always moving. Luckily there were now 5 rankers running around in this little ball on the line. However they were cut off from the rest of the line. That was never good news. That was the usual procedure before complete destruction of a division or worse. So the little ball had been pushing forward but was now veering off course. Moving more and more towards the woods on the side. This wasn’t what either side wanted. Though the enemy hadn’t really made up it’s mind Micky and co. had wanted to push more towards the line. This was something the enemy decidedly did not want though, thus the current direction.

The cavalry smashed passed, or a cavalry. They picked up Micky, ridding off somewhere else in the line. “Where were you? Always late when I need you!” Complained Micky. He had been expecting this cavalry unit to have arrived half an hour ago. 3 candles ago he knew they were going to be late. A candle ago he knew they weren’t going to make it. An eye blink ago Micky was saved by the skin of his teeth.
“Centurion sir, sorry sir we were delayed. We just didn’t have the stamina to keep up with our needs and desires, sir!” Declared the cavalry leader. Micky didn’t believe that for a second. He may have if they were only marginally late, but this was this, and that was that. Micky was pissed. And that was not something you wanted your commanding officer to be.
But Micky didn’t have time for that right now. He needed to get back in charge of the battlefield. It was a mess, the siege class mages were central to the battlefield however there was no center. The wagons were regularly raided but the worst was staved off. The ‘transports’ that were moving entire soldiers through the field were continuously launching and the mages were keeping mobile. However this was a gigantic waste. The two to one attrition losses were simply not sustainable. It wouldn’t take long for the army to completely collapse. And that was when they hit the forest.
Now battling in a completely different environment it was not only the trifecta that broke. Ancient trees were well known to be mana resistant. It was a necessity and a fact of life. It was also why Micky was making his way over to Maymay and making sure to stick close, his life probably depends on it, or he is completely screwed and this author needs to pick a new MC, shouldn’t be a hard choice.
Maymay charged into the treeline. Here she knew how to battle with even larger numbers. Granted this would be nothing like the squirrel siege of three years ago. That was a bloody battle this could not even compare to. No, but this would be a battle indeed. Micky quickly placed her in charge. With a vote of 2 to nil it was no contest who was in charge of the trifecta. Micky was quickly placed as the military advisor/messenger and used his buffs to direct her commands.

She first had all the horse mounted and similar equine cavalry dismount. The horses would not help in this unequal terraign. Oddly this left the elephant riders mounted. The second was to have the trifecta disperse. They were fighting in groups no larger than 100 and most were in groups of 10. The last was the siege mages and their caravan of regents which were now protected in the center in a group of 1000. This was the largest group and the obvious target. It was also the place that was the easiest to use as bait.
Prin was currently waiting for an enemy troop to pass. She could try to take them out now but that wasn’t the plan. She was going to snipe the ranker. She knew them well and this was just bait. Annoying and obnoxious bait that could not be ignored. Which made it the perfect bait for that bitch to use. Just because she was obnoxious with her massive flesh pillows and had a slutty tall body with lushes fiery red hair she thought she could be so obnoxious. She loved to be served by the troops and hardly fought a single battle herself. Though that didn’t stop her from going after the weak targets when she did. She was the opposite of the green beauty that was Prin.
So Prin waited. Since her prey was basically announcing herself Prin thought that she might as well say hello when she came knocking on her door.
The target prowled out of the forest with her man toys. She lay on a sadan with three women servicing her and rubbing oils on her to repel insects… probably. Prin hated the bitch.
Prin waited until they were just beneath her. Then they were attacked from the side. This prompted the countermeasure that the bitch had already planned for. She launched an attack and those not so well armed servants became 10th rankers in no time. Prin still didn’t trust it so she waited. This just happened to be the signal for the other side to attack. More levies poured out. This was too much for the soldiers surrounding the bitch so she revealed her next trump card. It appeared that even using herself as bait was not enough for the bitch. Her trump card was that it was all a trap all along. Soldiers were being launched from all sides. The previous marching troupe had circled around and was now attacking from all sides. And more soldiers were pouring out. It was the perfect time for Prin to launch her assault.
Landing on the sadan she first launched the attendants off of. “Oh it looks like I have a new partner to play with.” Said the ranker. But it was a bit to late. Prin had also launched a net while she was at it and the lazy bitch hadn’t even dodged. She was busy with it now but Prin wasn’t the type to give her the chance. So she launched several spears at the bitch landing them in key locations to cripple her.
The bitch snarled but she was experienced herself. She continued to struggle with the net. The hooks on the net were sharp and dug into… places. But it was the weights that made it the most annoying. The hooks would just take some time and a little bit of teeth gritting. It was the weight of the damn thing that made it so annoying. So annoying in fact that it was too much for the soldiers holding the sadan and they dropped it. Spilling the two rankers on the ground and tangling up their limbs further. Now the fight was taken to the ground and the chaotic melee was surrounding them.

Author's Note: (This is my first story, and I would be very thankful if grammatical errors were pointed out. I could also take a few suggestions in the comments if you would. This is less a planned production, and more a little project that I'm winging as it goes. I will try and be consistent with at least 2 chapters a week. Also, as I am a completely new author, the number of words per chapter may fluctuate. The minimum will be around 1000 words, while other chapters may be 2000-3000. It will hopefully only get better with time.)

Mobius
Far in the future, humans have thoroughly colonized space through the use of floating colonies and artificially replicating the Earth whenever possible. Most of these endeavors have gone well, with humanity spreading across the universe like the seeds of plants floating in the wind. Yet still there lurks the great mistake, the endless station of Mobius, a megastructure which hasn't ceased its building in over a century. Dante, a man living in this megastructure, is tasked with the recording of stories told by criminals, particularly those who travel between strata. One day, a prisoner is captured claiming to be Captain Pluto, an infamous criminal thought to be fictitious by most scholars. Even more curious, he claims to hail all the way from Stratum 56, a location so far away from Dante's Stratum 999 that it would take lifetimes to traverse such a distance. Dante must discern whether or not the story is false or true, and the longer he lets Captain Pluto speak, the more difficult his task becomes. *****Average chapter length will be 10k words give or take. This isn't a very serious story for me. I'm writing this to blow off steam. Updates will happen infrequently because of this, and it will most likely be unpolished unless I begin to take it more seriously.
