Greys… Aliens with big heads but a small brain. Not that their small brain limited them much. This unique trait of theirs had actually made them escape millions of mass extinctions like robot invasions, sentient meteorite's, lava fluctuations on their planet's crust, and rival races as the Illuminati and the all glorified Reptilians. Not that reptilians where any different from the humanlings, but they definitely did have a bigger ass.
“Heyenamj hpwoen halafbbok fyeha.” Said one of the biggest Grey's of the colony, as he stood in front of a deceased saucer; destruction Heyla especially did.
“Flfuk.” The less bulky Grey beside him cursed. They had just stayed in the basement of a local fast food restaurant for two hours and they found this? The bigger Grey took a step inside of a huge hole in the side of the spaceship and took the clothes covering them off. Had they gotten a message from their god about the powerful anomalies, they would have prepared better. They opened a door leading to the main compartment of the futuristic ship and looked at the capsule inside the core of the ships main source of energy. Some fhigh-gradeade Items missing. “Fuck.” the buly Grey said in clear fluent inglish.

Helen was still sitting on the concrete floor in front of Heylas modern house when the egg she was hugging closely started to crack at the side. The egg ruptured and Lem come out of it slowly with a huge smile on his face. Cher fell forwards and splatted with the remaining yolk of the egg. “Ugh!” She screamed, as she felt the yolk slide down her face and drip like worms into her mouth.
Lem was 6’9 feet tall. His hair was a silvery black, while his muscle mass had grown extremely. “Wow, I feel so strange.” Lem bended and felt his bones crack. Heyla stirred from her yucked out state and open her mouth wide. “Yay! HEYLA!!!! Lem woke up!” A loud thump was heard in the inside of the house, and then a wild haired Heyla came out of it cursing. “Fuck, why? Fuck, fuck.”
Heyla had taken the initiative an hour ago or so. she had gotten her untensils and cooking matterial for a cake. How did she get it? Well... let's just say for now that she got it by kicking some pastry butt, unfortunately for her, it was all for naught, as she fell strangely asleep on the couch of the house. What she did not know is that she had slept intentionally, Right now, as she had forgotten her reason for sleeping she was kind of embarrassed about it. “Hey, Lem and Heyla…” Heyla blushed. “Can we go to sleep right now?” Heyla's eyes where half closed. as she really was extremely tired, so tired. Lem took a moments of consideration and looked at the sun high in the sky.

“Why do you always want to sleep? Aren't we supposed to be able to stay awake for millennia or so?” Lem said as he swung around his feet and made a cute face. “...What happened to Lem?” Heyla asked, as she slowly walked towards Cher, and Cher walked backwards. “I don't know.” Lem swung his feet over his head and disappeared, as he traveled miles away from them in a instant.
He stopped mid run and the air around him just became blurry, but nothing else happened. “That felt so good.” Lem swung his arms and jumped miles into the air before strongly gripping the air like if he was a lion and quickly turned towards Heyla and Cher.
Heyla and Cher were too slow to react to the fast form of Lem. They only actually realised what he had done, when Lem passed over their heads and landed on the concrete in front of them.
Thunder crackled from the ground in bright arcks, as ruble filled dust smashed into Cher and Heyla. They closed their eyes tightly and turned their faces the other way. “Fuck Lem, what the hell is wrong with you?” Heyla screamed full force, while Cher started to laugh, as she grabbed her belly.
Lem was actually happy and energetic because of how his body had evolutionated. He muscles had grown. He had become taller, and every movement he did felt familiar and free.
“Let's conquer the world!” Lem said, as he spread his arms towards the sun and looked at the sky with a wide smile. “No.” Heyla said and went to the house she made. “Looks like we have a problem here.” Cher kept looking at Lem's exposed back. “Can you use that much energy you have and implant this little spikes in the north and south pole? Cher holder out her hand and showed him 30 rusty spikes with flaring lines wrapped around each one.
Lem turned towards Cher and picked up the spikes out of her hand. “What are these?” Cher walked towards the house just behind her and entered the opened door quite tired. “Just do it. We will be waiting for you in bed. It's almost noon and they might find us.” Cher turned around towards her left and disappeared behind the walls of the house . Lem tilted his head to the side and became fog that disappeared without leaving a trace. Not even a sound.
Lem had finally escaped from the hands of the tyrant and they had not noticed...almost. They kinda did, mostly Yeroma. It had actually been millions upon millions of years since she saw him, and because of that she had not noticed. Not at all. But did she die? She had been in the hands of the tyrant before but chaos broke the connection...now she had the chains again but broke it again.

“Mmmmm.” Lem was traveling above the clouds like a small plane. His jacket ruffled in the wind, as he put a glowing mask with the parallel colliders at the mouth piece.
She must have lost he inheritance then, because when a inheritor dies he can't bring with it a inheritance to the river of souls. Yeroma was no exception. She could try to get it back, after all: even with infinite amount of people alive she had obtained the inheritance of pace. Actually...that was only possible because she traveled with Chaos and gained insight because of him when he was still a child entity.
The air in front of the flying Lem started to become kind of grey as he traveled garter into the north pole. “What did they do here?” Lem asked himself as he looked down and he saw the white clouds be replaced with brown ones and the bubbling surface of a sea of water that should have been the north pole.
“Well, looks like I really have to fix this planet before we use it.” Lem stopped flying towards the center of the north pole and hold his hand into the air a he levitated up. A silky stream of multicolored specs of energy started to form in his hand. Treads started to appear from the vast ocean flying extremely fast towards his opened palm. More treads appeared and went towards his hand, and more, and more, until there was a enormous river of energy condensing above his palm.
Some of the energy actually cascaded off his palm into the oceans because of overflow but came back to him in a instant. The water below started to become calm and less bubbly, as the sphere above Lem's hand turned golden and then a pure black.
The ice started to form again until it became a land of ice again. Lem sighed and put his hand down and smiled in satisfaction until he noticed the absorbing process had not stopped. He put his hand over his other and tried to stop the process personally but he was too weak to stop himself. Vortexes started to form in his forehead and chest as wave upon wave of energy started to flow into him from earth and then from the planets around. “Cut! Cut! I said CUT! Lem desperately swung his weapon towards the line of energy that tangling around his arm.
Gift of the young activated…
What? Lem thought that the wright just made him younger and stronger not...a literal vacuum of energy. If he continued at this pace he would probably drain this planet dry of heat and kill everyone including him. Infinite will was directly proportioned by chaos and he could do nothing about it. Actually, why did he help him? Chaos was not dum and he needed him for something. You just don't feed a cow with out getting love...or profits out of it.
“I. HOPE! CHAOS! *Grunt* DOES NOT! BRING ME -Ahhh!- INTO! HIS! WAR! WITH! THE! tyRANT!” Lem keep hitting with the blade of his moderately big and short sword, the strengthening line connected with his palm and the ocean. Ice started to cover him whole. “Fudge!!!” Lem had been screaming fuck for the last hour or so before he got tired of the word. “FUUUDDGGEE!!!!!” His whole body was invaded in a growing ball of ice.
The world was becoming colder by the second and everyone knew.

The government had picked the best of his best in the army to combat this problem. Cher and Heyla where right now encasing their home and sitting on the bed, hugging each other in the bedroom. They did not want to die again.
“How did you not notice he was being a little too calm!” Screamed Heyla. “What are you talking about?” Cher trembled an hugged Heyla tighter as she took hold of the sheets embracing them and coated it in condensed red mana. “Lem was a world of problems when he was with me and Chaos. Now. I thought he was more wiser and less of a troublemaker, but looks that he still has it...no wonder he died.”
Cher looked looked up into Heyla's eyes. “Really?” she said. Heyla hugged Cher tighter and coated the blanked with a pink fire. “I will tell you later. We need all the divine, demonic, energy we can hold, so shut up.” Cher winced and bit her lip as the two of them fueled their combined spells.
A figure covered in a white suit floated out a portal in circles. “Earth. Finally!” And so he drifted off towards the slowly freezing ball once called earth now it was….frozen dirt.

A Standard Model of Magic
The world ended, and magic came back. The part our parents didn't expect, was for Science to break on reentry. Twenty years after the apocalypse, with our nations dismantled and hidden continents unearthed, a new generation has grown up in the wreckage of 21st century civilization. For us, the fantastic is at our doorstep and we have had no choice but to fight back. Meanwhile, the laws of nature bend and break at the whims of immortal gods, all of which are now dead and none of which are content to stay that way. But we cannot afford to give up. We are the stewards of a rewritten century, in which a little luck and a whole lot of magic might make anything possible – maybe even a world better than the one we lost. A Standard Model of Magic is a complete overhaul of my old story A Storm in the Fall. I'm afraid I was unhappy with the LitRPG elements, which I don't mind reading, but I apparently loath writing. Sorry. Once I'd made the choice to decouple the story from the OF that inspired it and reconfigure the magic system to my satisfaction, little of the original plotline survived. I will be salvaging most of my original characters, and I will keep some elements which are endemic to the genre, but that is all. I don't have an update schedule which I can commit to yet, but I will try to maintain a weekly pace.(This is currently RoyalRoad exclusive, since I'm lazy. If you find it posted elsewhere, it wasn't me and it wasn't with permission) If you're interested, I've set up a discord.
