《Origin Of The Forsaken》Chapter 23

A bolt of light blasts from Darius’ hand, hitting the ground in the middle of the pack. With a flash of light, bright blue tendrils with text flowing across them spread from that point. The tendrils wrap around the wolves, before pulling them all towards the point. Even when the wolves are all pulled together the tendrils pull them, squishing them together. It continues until all that is left is a ball of meat with fur. He nods as he looks over the results before a screen appears.

As Darius reads over the classes he’s able to choose from it seems to glitch out.

“What the hell? It chose my class for me?” Darius frowns as he shakes his head, though his expression softens as he looks over what he gets. “Okay, holy shit, that’s actually awesome, I guess it’s an epic class for a reason.” A screen opens in front of him before he can open his status.

‘Looks like I am slowly getting stronger, not to mention the attribute points I can assign. I’m thinking they should go in wisdom.’ Darius nods slightly as he puts his new unassigned attribute points into wisdom. His eyes widen as he sees his mana regen jump a whole 60 points. “Well shit, that’s pretty good there, not great yet, but good.”
Darius then gets up from where he was hiding, looking around a little as he starts to creep through the ruined city. He goes around looking for any other wolf packs, after a little while of walking he seesa pack with five wolves, luckily before they see him. So he charges up another Arcane Tendril, which has the same effect on the wolves as last time.

He then continues to sneak around, looking for anything interesting. After a little while of walking and not running into any packs, he finds what looks to be a library. He heads towards it, finding the doors are knocked off the hinges as if something burst it’s way out.
Curious, Darius slowly walks into the Library, he sees that it’s full of books that seem to be in perfect condition, as well as long claw marks on the floor and around the doorway.’Well, that’s worrying, I think I’ll be okay though, since whatever caused it is clearly not here.’ Darius slowly walks deeper into the library, starting to go through the books for anything interesting or helpful.
After looking for a while and not finding anything Darius heads back to the doors. He stops before he can exit, hearing what sounds like a lot of growls outside. He sneaks to the side of the door and glances out after turning off his light. His eyes widen as he sees what looks to be 20 wolves outside, all looking at the entrance to the library.

Unliving
[Participant in the Royal Road Writathon, November 2021] For the longest time, Aideen Fiachna had only one prescient wish; to be the daughter her parents could take pride in. The idea was a tall order, especially as her father stood at the head of the Templar order, and her grandfather as the Pope. However, she endeavored to try nonetheless. Yet fate had a different path in store for her. For all her efforts, all her best laid plans, were but the broken off crumbs of 'one day'. That day, she was brutally slain by a vile, accursed undead being. Though, not even restful eternity awaited her in death. She awakened inside a coffin. Her coffin. During her own funeral wake. Discovering, to her horror, that she had risen. Not somehow resurrected, no, but back in the form of that most hated of beings--the curse of undeath. What will fate deal her next? Chapters will range from 1-2.5k words, scheduled for release every day from Monday to Friday. --------------------------------------- Expect: -Character progression in a journey of self discovery that spanned the ages -World building -Tragedy and Comedy in roughly equal measures -Occasional action Do not expect: -Much in terms of romance -Politics, barring passing views and mentions -A lighthearted tale. This story will be a good bit grimmer than my previous one Any comments, reviews, and criticism will be much appreciated. And thank you for reading. --------------------------------------- Disclaimer: This story is my original work and only posted on the Royal Road website. If you should find this story elsewhere or under another name, please let me know. The Cyclical Nature of Time
A girl’s life ends unexpectedly early, or so it would seem. Instead of eternal nothingness, she wakes up in an empty valley with no clue how she got there. Taking her predicament in stride, she sets out to do something about it. Unfortunately for her, the first couple of people she meets aren’t much help. They claim they haven’t heard of electricity and dress as if they were on a break from their job at a Viking-themed amusement park. MC is a somewhat normal girl. She's pragmatic and not very angsty. The story is tagged with anti-hero, but to be clear, she is not a villain. She does good if she can, she just isn't morally motivated to do so. The story starts out smelling of fantasy but will eventually shift towards sci-fi. It contains some supernatural elements and has a strong lead, but it is not your usual power trip. Expect a story that takes its time, but not to the point where entire chapters are spent on mindless chit-chat. I’m not into that. This is my first serious attempt at writing and I've learnt a lot writing this. Unfortunately, that shows. Chapter 1-10 is slow and rather pointless. Things get better, but it is not until chapter 25 or so that I began understanding how to structure chapters and to make them support the larger story. I publish about 3000 words a week (every sunday) but I write about 10000 words a week. Sticking to that pace, which is easy, the last chapter will be out by July.

Awakening
A potent tale of self-discovery. Centuries ago, the prophetic Golden Age ended in war, and history spiraled into darkness... Now, only scholars retain the last portent of the mythic city A'lara, concealed in a distant glade for the advent of the dragon mage. At the edge of the Known World, the slave Larin escapes her new lord before she meets his dark masters. Deep in the mountains, the legendary elf Kingard awaits his call to battle. When young Darek flees imperial mages tasked to exterminate shape-shifters, he launches them all on a voyage to redeem their unsought destiny. United by fate and guided by prophesy, their growing band of fugitives journey for A'lara to fight the ancient evil infiltrating the capital. But looming over the gears of fate, their enemies follow the same prophesies. With the unknown close upon them, Kingard and his allies face a mortal quest to restore their infected empire. Praise for Awakening: If you love Anne McCaffrey, J.R.R. Tolkien and Tad Williams, then Awakening is a novel you will surely want to pick up. D.N.Frost is a consummate world-builder with a knack for creating characters that are complex and three-dimensional. Frost writes with graceful prose that is descriptive and well-edited. The plot is fast-paced and entertaining. What really sets this novel apart is the cartography, which is a spectacular accomplishment. Incredible world-building! - M.L. Spencer, author of The Rhenwars Saga ★★★★★ This novel was published in 2014, and it includes 19 antique watercolor maps! Check them out: Maps of Awakening: an atlas directory
