As I continue to craft the novel, I appreciate any input from followers and visitors. I answer your comments and questions, while considering suggestions.

Battle Avatars follows David Grey into Lenscape Online. As he plays within a world indistinguishable from RL, he encounters increasingly curious inconsistencies—worrisome realities which threaten his life and all players.

Primarily a Gamelit series, it incorporates elements of both Xianxia and Wuxia's understanding of "ley energy" and "mana" as qi, ki, or chi, collected and channeled—cultivated and refined—into abilities and skills for the improvement of self—allowing the exploration of identity. Perhaps it's best described as leaning toward a Xuanhuan novel (with elements of kehuan and qihuan)—a blend of western and eastern fantasy.

Within the journey across the Lenscape, the mechanisms to enter the game world touch upon the mystery of consciousness, explored in our world through DMT or LSD, in psychedelic, fractal experiences and in the Taoist, Zen, and Buddhist philosophies.

My inspiration for litRPG is derived from the D&D adventures my friends and I played during the summers for so many years. College interrupted that, until we found video and online games to adventure and battle across, while reconnecting us across borders and oceans.

Aside from the wild adventures to be told; the mystery to unravel; monsters, beasts, and enemies to defeat—and epic loot to gather—Battle Avatars seeks to capture some sense of that loss of connection—through the passage of time—among friends, and the potential for gaming to build true community.

While Battle Avatars contains game stats and leveling, I consider it to be median level, leaning towards the light side of gamelit/litrpg.

BA will contain some elements of harem, but it is not a harem. I'm a big fan of Tenchi, don't get me wrong, so BA is not a western (American) styled harem story. The MC will encounter a number of strong women, no doubt, and they will challenge and even threaten his life in the Lenscape.

Talking about strength, xianxia and wuxia, BA is about the inner and outer journey, leveling up and progressing. That first wooden sword, rogue's grappling hook, or fire spell. Running around with your friends or new, fellow players, establishing yourself, learning and advancing.

As the hero grows in ability, so too the threats.
