《The Aggresive Cheater》Chapter 12: Rival

“Wh-where am I?” I stuttered, unable to fully control my mouth. I would have thought I’d gone all the way through to the headmaster office by now, but what the hell is this place?! Did I made some mistake while chanting the teleportation spell? Looking at this place, I must be teleported to another place instead, what should I do...
“Oh right, the log!” I tap the log menu with my index finger.
“...Nothing.”
There is no one here, no sign of people and nothing!
This place... this is...
“This is a fucking cliffs!”
I was pretty sure that if I stood very still for a few seconds everything would snap back to normal, and sent me back to the headmaster office but nothing!
I wondered if I was undergoing too much stress. I looked cautiously back over my shoulder. There was no sign of the headmaster office or my room behind me, just a cliffs.
This is really dangerous, but I couldn't help but laughing at this strange situation. Somehow it’s excites me, is something wrong with me? Nah it can’t be.
I proceed to check the map, this place is called [Greenland], contrary to it’s name, this cliffs are mainly sheer with little vegetation and dead plants. it was odd to see that here and there among the dead plants a few green leaf and stem still stretch out, drawing nourishment from who knew where.
I zoom out my map by using my thumb and index finger, the map shifted accordingly to my fingers smooth motion. Before my entire map only display little part of the Greenland, but now greenland is displayed in 0.2 cm in diameter and the distance between this place and the Academy is quite far.
I looked back up at the sky, trying to gauge the time and how many hours I had left, now the headmaster is still in the office, should I go back ? I flexed my hands, my body still felt a bit weak because the lack of rest.
I want to go back to the Academy, but something caught my interest. There is a path along the top of rugged cliffs, I trod lightly, brushing up my black shoes with dull grey laces against the vegetation, trying to make as little contact with the dead plants as possible. It was cold, and my fingers were numb.
“....!"
I stopped my advance as enraged female voice echoed from the abyss below getting clearer in my ears. “Turn back or go down?” I ponder to myself as I felt a huge flow of mana down there, coupled with a scary voice unbecoming for a woman, something must be going on down there.

I sat down on a stone in the corner, glancing at the bottom of the cliff where the voice come from.
“Well,” I said aloud to myself, “I can’t leave a damsel in distress.” The night sky rolled with thunder in response. The heaven didn’t believe my words? Whatever.
I slid down the cliffs into the deep and pitch black abyss with baby steps. Not even 2 minutes had passed but my knuckles were white as I gripped the nearby rock, so I wrapped my still weak hands around a weird branch nearby that grow on a rock, careful not to touch the bugs scrambling down one side and then pulled myself down slowly.
The melody is unbearable, I shifted my weight to gaze the crickets with a horn on it’s forehead that chirped monotonously.
Crack
“Oh not good. No, you can do this” I thought while staring at the cracked rock that become my foothold. “Bad sign, bad sign.” Suddenly, the branch gave away and hurtled me down toward the abyss below.
I closed my eyes as I fell from the cliff, but there is no gusts of wind brushing against my back, no impact or sounds of brain and innards splattered on the ground.
But I immeadiately know the reason why, when I opened my eyes, a forest could be seen stretch the horizon, and I’m still falling, while the wind keep on invading my eyes. I reached for the wand inside my cloak pocket. “Oh, sweet andraste, maker, god, demon king. please works.” I muttered under my breath, then casting [Astral Magic: Ethereal] but the words trailed off. I chanted in silence, overshadowed by the howling wind. The wand made creepy swashing noises, and my body starting to become transparent, then I focus my attention to the sight below.
This sensation... It’s feels like skydiving, but without using a parachute, which is my first time doing it this way, well this spell will make sure I won’t die from the impact, maybe, but even so this is very exciting, I gave a loud and silly laugh before crashed into a big tree with no sounds of impact, and still alive which is creepy but it feels good nonetheless. now that I think about it, isn’t this too OP? Basically I’d become immortal the moment I used this spell right, if there’s a flaw it would be my sense of touch is nullified so I can’t touch or feel anything.
“Haha, that was exciting, I should try that again later.” I was leaning against a willow tree, musing to myself. Suddenly, a noise broke me from my musings. Startled, I looked up and just in time too. A large brown gigantic worm with many sharp teeth headed straight toward me.

“Hell Worm?!... this...”
It was a ‘Hell Worm’ the gigantic worm with the size bigger than a fucking truck, a creatures that acting as a guardian, guarding an ancient tomb that buried far from civilization. I read it from the book in the library, it say that that it’s very strong creatures, also known as ‘All Eater’ and here I though that I would be a white knight in shining armor trying to save a damsel in distress. That was the last thing I saw before the worm opened it’s big mouth, then downed me in one swallow.
Night passed and replaced by a dazzling sun. Crowds of student gathered, the entrance of Arachnid Academy was so packed with students that had come to watch the Arachnid Academy mages that will be chosen to go to the dungeon.
The 6 people from the Six Enigma had arrived, and the some of them belong to different year. Clamor and cheers of student could be heard even from the distance. This is not because the students were interested in this event, but because of the six enigma, they are cheering for them, just like fans would normally do.
All of the students from various year crowded together forming a sea of mages, and among them, only 100 mages will be chosen to help the king’s elite knights in clearing the dungeon.
Standing atop the platform in the Academy mainhall, the headmaster is giving speech to the crowd of mages that last for 30 minutes before decided that it’s enough as barely 10% of them listening to his speech. “...That is all I have to say, now I will call 100 names of those that will be sent to the dungeon to proceed through this door. It’s a portal directly connected to the fort near the dungeon. There, the king’s elite knight will welcome you.” after ended his speech, he mumbled something crowd didn’t catch, and a big black door swayed slightly as it formed out of thin air.
Headmaster stroke his beard looking at the 100 mages that brimming with anticipation and some with nervous expression, then sigh faintly. “I will start now! Rio third-year, Lyla third-year, Bayne...”
“Have you found Lestat yet?” standing among the crowd of mages, Eva whispered in a low voice.
“No.” Replied Kana, her complexsion didn’t look good.
“We are about to depart soon. He is first-year so it’s not strange for him for not to be chosen to go to the dungeon.” Eva said as she looking at the mages that vanished as they step into the black door.
“I don’t know, maybe.” Kana was so anxious that beads of sweat had started forming on her forehead, she then puff her cheek “I didn’t see him anywhere...he should at least come and see me off!”
“My my what we have here? I didn’t expect you would be dating a commoner.” A young female chimed in from the crowd.
Kana grit her teeth “Cassandra, what do you what?”
Cassandra is one of the nobles whose parent is always at each other throat with Kana’s, so this kind of occurence is not the first time, and she always tried to create trouble for Kana whenever there’s a chance.
Cassandra snorted “it’s not what I want, but what you want. You are a disgrace to all the nobles out there. What your father would say if he heard about this? His daughter is dating a commoner.” Cassandra replied in a loud voice, attracting the crowd attention.
“Hey did you hear that?”
“Kana the disciple of the Flaming Saint is dating him!”
“This is a hot news!”
“Who is this Lestat they are taking about?”
“That Lestat who strip naked the second year student and hang him atop the headmaster statue in the dueling arena?”
Cassandra flip her fan to cover her laughter “Fufufu, he’s a commoner and first year at that, you are dating a trash! I’m sure your father would be angry beyond words. Aha ha ha ha.”
“You! Don’t you dare to insult him!” A red cloud of rage swam across Kana's vision.
“So what? he’s just a commoner, a trash! And you a noble, had fallen deeply with that trash, very amusing”
“Shut up.” Eva standing protectively in front of Kana. her gaze was locked on Cassandra, she spoke in a cold voice “And get lost, before I make you dissapear myself, I’m sure you won’t like it Cassandra.”
“Eva...you are here, fine.” Cassandra vanished into the crowd.
“There’s no need to be angry with her provocation.” Eva whispered in Kana ears “..I’m sure Lestat will come soon, just wait here for him.”
“Hmph, whatever. I don’t care about him.”
“It’s very refreshing to see a maiden in love.”
“Wha- s-so what?! are you jealous?”
“Um.... no.”
“... There’s hesitation in your voice.”
“Er, headmaster called my name. See you later.”
“Wait!! ... tch, she get away. Hah, I got myself a new rival, a tough one at that.” Kana sigh faintly. Unknown to Eva, now Kana didn't see her as a friend, she saw her as a rival, a love rival.
