Chapter 9: Legends Often Accompany heroes

Artemis turns, and takes a better look at the little girl who just called her name. Lo and behold, it was Anya, her master! Artemis hugs her tightly, and starts to cry again, thinking back on what happened to Erica. Just when Artemis lets her master go from her bear hug, she goes to stand up again, off of her knees that she was previously on to hug Anya.

However something unexpected happens.... Artemis faints, and her eyes roll back into her head from a sudden shock of pain coursing through her body. The only saving grace in her passing out so fast, is she didn't have to feel the excess pain for a extended period of time.

Anya rushes over to Artemis, and starts to worry. However, she is unable to do anything for her but stay by her side. Half an hour later, two figures make their way out of dense brush and foliage.

???: "Oh, Anya, there you are. We have been looking everywhere for you! What happened to you?"

???[2]: "Hey Yeavon, who's that by Anya?" says the unknown man to the other previously unidentified man.

Yeavon: "OH, Agent, [in game name agentXshadow] why did you get here so late? As for whose next to Anya, I was about to ask that myself."

Agent: "Hey, Anya, who's that next to you on the ground?"

Anya takes a moment to ponder on how to answer this question, but she decides to be truthful and tell them everything, because they are trustworthy, and have been playing with her for a few months in real world time.

Anya: "Well.... where do i begin?... I guess the beginning is the best place to start...." Anya spends the next two hours explaining everything to two shocked party members.

Anya: "And....that's who she is....Normally, I would introduce someone when they are awake, but it cant be helped in this situation.... Meet Artemis.... my cat"

Anya: "On another note, WHAT TOOK YOU SO LONG?!"

Yeavon: "We got held up by high level bandit wannabes, so it took longer for us to meet up."

Anya: "Yeah right. You two are stupidly high level! What could possibly keep you busy for a half hour?"

Agent: "Does 50 vs 2 users count in full widespread combat with no rules, deemed to only end when one side stops breathing, count as a something such as that?"

Anya: "....If that's the case, how are you not red players? I'm sure they kept some held back to force you to hit them, and turn red so more items fall from you."

Agent: "T....that....... Yeavon let them hit him first, and killed any that did, those that didn't had no choice but to hit him first, to make it register as self defense..... stupid walking fortress.... "

Yeavon: "OI, I resent that! Well, we might as well get moving. No use sitting around here. I'll grab Artemis, then we will go to the nearest town to find out what's wrong. If I remember right, there is an actual doctor in that town."

Anya: "WOW, aren't those like really rare in this game, due to churches monopolizing the healing market?"

Yeavon: "Yeah, but we happen to be in luck. From what you said, I don't think a church will help us."

Yeavon picks up Artemis in a princess carry posture, and starts to head to the nearest town so we can get her checked out, to see if she's fine or not.

*Shortly after in a nearby clinic*

Doctor: "It's a good thing you brought her here, and not to the churches. Healers they wouldn't be able to help her, granted I can't do much to help her either, but i can help minimize the pain, as well as wake her up."

The doctor takes out some smelling salts, and wakes up Artemis, who instantly looks to be in extreme pain. He then gives her some water with ground up medicines mixed into it.

Doctor: "Drink up, lil' Missy, you will need it... I don't know how you ended up in that state. Your body is so fucked up right now. I haven't seen a case this bad since the Guard Captain thought it was a good idea to block an explosion with a small round shield.... that was a mess..."

Anya: "Artemis, what happened to you? Why did you end up in such a bad state?"

Artemis: "Well.....I guess it's useless to stay quiet about it. It's not like I have anything to hide." So, Artemis starts to tell Anya everything about her time in Royal Road, from day one to current without sparing any details or emotions.

Anya, Yeavon, and Agent were all shocked staring at her with mouths agape, unable to hide it.

Artemis, however, finally notices the new faces, and gives a concerned look to Anya, who sees the look she gave her, and as if reading her mind replies.

Anya: "Don't worry, they are good friend., they are members of Hired Heroes Guild."

Artemis: "What's a guild?"

Yeavon: "A Guild is basically a gathering of like minded individuals, who help each other in times of need."

Artemis: "Ah.... that sounds nice"

Artemis starts to wonder why she ended up in this state. She then remembers that combat auto hides new windows until she asks for them to appear .

Artemis: "Show new skills and newly modified skills!"

Yeavon: "Agent, Anya, and I were going to do a quest in the Ruined Village, a few days north from here. Want to join us?"

Agent: "Yeah, you should come with! It will be fun!"

Meanwhile, Anya gives Artemis puppy-dog eyes.... Artemis hates it when she does that, because she can't say say no.....not that she could talk until now, it was more actions than words, but still.... Artemis pouts a bit then decides to accept.

Artemis: "How can I say 'no,' when you ask me so sincerely? Of course I'll go!"
