Chapter 5: The Dark God's descent

Artemis ran with all her might, but it didn't help at all. The pure white scaled dragon was just toying with her, with a bemused expression on her face or so Artemis thought... it was hard to make out a dragon's expressions.

Growing tired, Artemis decided enough was enough, and just decided to ask it why it was chasing her.

Artemis: "Why are you chasing me?"

???: "Because your holy and divine aura made me sense you as one akin to I, the True Dragon, God of Light, made me seek you.... While my mind tells me you are weak, my instinct tells me you are a threat to my position as the holiest being in Middle Earth."

Artemis: "So you would chase and attack a level one cat, just due to that reason alone?"

???: "Indeed. Fear not, I shall at least let you know the name of the being that sent you to the afterlife. My name is Ascultone."

[Author note: this but white scales also he has wings unlike the current picture]

Artemis: "I refuse to die due to something so petty as that! My name is Artemis, by the way!"

Ascultone: "And you think you have a choice in the matter..... how cute."

Ascultone sweeps at Artemis with her giant white scaled tail, following up with a white fireball from her Dragon's Breath. Thanks to a cat's nimbleness, she managed to barely dodge them both, but some of her beautiful fur got burned. Artemis, in the heat of the moment, attempted to trap the dragon using the Earth to create a swamp around the Dragon to make it sink down. It isn't as effective as she would have hoped, and she curses in her mind how useless that spell she made was, when in reality it was quite powerful, since it was able to sink a dragon, even momentarily.

Ascultone, for a second, was caught off guard and ended up almost getting trapped FULLY in the earthen swamp. Artemis then sat and started licking her front paw, in order to taunt the Dragon. Artemis had only one skill aside from her ultimate magic that could harm it... while the skill said it can be used at higher levels to control enemies' magic, she decided to risk it early on hoping her wisdom and int would give her a chance at pulling off a miracle.

Ascultone fired a massive white fireball at Artemis. She used all her focus, wisdom, and intellect to attempt to control the fireball she manages to succeed and turned it around and hit the dragon in the head, taking out 19% of her total HP.

Ascultone was enraged, and struggled even more than before to get out of the swamp, when she felt something was wrong.... DANGER .... MUST GET AWAY Her instincts were screaming at her telling her to "MOVE YOUR ASS AND GET OUT OF HERE", but her pride decided she was already embarrassed enough from getting caught in the earthen swamp that she would not allow herself to fly out and dodge what was to come.

That was a mistake....

Ascultone shuddered in fear as glyphs and runes appeared around Artemis. A massive magical array appears above Ascultone, as all the sky aside from the array darkens.... blacker than night itself.... nothing in the sky aside from the area under the array.

All players in Royal Road noticed the sky darken. Instantly the sunlight all over Middle Earth ceased for those few moments until suddenly...

A light brighter than ever seen before in all Royal Road history fell onto Ascultone. The Guards and players were shocked shitless! No one ever had seen magic such as this. Even the Gods who normally hide in the upper realms, who watch the Earth as a hobby got scared.

The amount of damage dealt was mind boggling. Ascultone was barely alive with 0.1% hp left due to luck of elemental compatibility. She who had 90% resistance to holy element took that much damage from one spell.... it even broke Ascultone's manasheild she tossed up before the impact.

With no mana left, Artemis took a risk and ran at the still stunned and captured Ascultone, and started clawing at her wildly. Eventually, her hp hits 0 and Artemis wins. Then, she remembered an old saying about dragons' blood and dragons hearts. So, she entered through the impact point from her spell earlier and proceeds to eat the dragons heart and drink the blood. All of a sudden a DING could be heard, normally attributed to learning skills.

Congratulations! you have killed an Ancient Dragon

Artemis decided to transform into her Demi-Human, which conveniently was already clothed fully. Happy and giddy, jumping up and down at what she managed to do.

When all of a sudden, a sickening "THUNK" could be heard

Artemis feels more pain than she'd ever felt before in her entire life. Enough to make her cry, as she watched her health fall before she died. She managed to look back to see the hand that was holding the evil pulsating spear of darkness that impaled her chest.

I was a being surrounded by darkness. Her instincts told her this being was a Dark God.

???: "Amazing... you didn't instantly die this time, even from that. Even that weak dragon you fought would've died without even being able to so much as look at me before they faded."

Artemis: "*coughing up blood* W-what....w-who are you *she spits out even more blood*" Artemis says while wondering what "this time" meant.

???: "Me? my name is XiX but to you..... I'm Death itself"

And just like that, Artemis suffered her first death....
