《Shadow: Sovereign of Kings》Chapter 23: Revenge of Bai Clan(2)

Knock. Knock.
"Come in." A gentle and grand voice sounded out.
After taking in a breath of fresh air, Bai Leng Mo placed his hands on the wooden door and slowly pushed it open.
"Grandfather," Bai Leng Mo respectfully called out.
"Good grandson, your grandfather has finally broken through to the Spirit Ascension stage. However, the other three major powers will not let us go, especially after knowing that I have reached the Spirit Ascension stage," Clan Master Bai announced with a grave tone.
After hearing the first sentence, Bai Leng Mo almost wanted to shout with joy, however, upon hearing the second sentence, his face immediately darkened.
"Grandfather, I suggest we should do a pre-emptive strike," Bai Leng Mo suggested after some consideration.
"Yes. However, now is not the time. Here comes the old fogeys."
Once Clan Master Bai's words ended, three elderly figures could be seen flying into their courtyard. When they landed, an enormous pressure was brought with them, causing several fissures to form on the stone platform.
Clan Master Bai's face immediately darkened. Despite that, he endured it and did not say anything.
"Bai Zhang ah Bai Zhang, congratulations on reaching Spirit Ascension stage!" The first figure spoke with mockery in his eyes. He was dressed in a white robe with phoenix patterns imprinted on it while releasing an aura of royalty. He was the Head of the Feng family, Feng Zhi Yi.
"Looks like we have to report to the Human Emperor about another existence at the Spirit Ascension stage," Clan Master Qin, Qin Wu, said with his eyes squinting into a line.
In response to Feng Zhi Yi and Qin Wu, Bai Zhang remained calm and composed. Bai Zhang then turned his heads towards the Head of the Fire clan, Huo, motioning him to follow up with the two degenerates.
Huo hesitated for awhile before opening his mouth, but no words could come out. After a tinge of internal struggling, Huo once again opened his mouth and genuinely greeted, "This one here sees the Clan Master of Bai Clan."
This caught Bai Zhang off guard and just when he was about to speak, a voice interrupted him.
"Just a mere Spirit Ascension and you immediately change sides, what a pile of dogsh*t!" Qin Wu immediately lashed out at Huo, not even giving him a slight bit of face.

"Hmph! Let's go!" Feng Zhi Yi coldly ordered. When the three of them came here, their original intention was to ridicule the Bai Clan of not knowing its place. Who would have known that Clan Master Huo would suck up to the other party.
Just when Feng Zhi Yi was thinking of ways to punish the Clan Master Huo, a rough voice sounded out, "Is this where you could go as you please? Since the three of you have already come, then why not stay behind!"
Instantly, an enormous pressure was brought upon the three Core Formation Heads, causing them to slam into the ground.
"Bai Zhang! How dare you retaliate against the Feng family?! Do you want the Bai Clan to be exterminated?!" Qin Wu immediately shouted, his face flushed with anger.
"Exterminated? HAHAHA... It's not me that's going to be exterminated. Why would I, Bai Zhang, be afraid of a mere Feng family?! How laughable!" Bai Zhang roared with laughter and in that instant, his figure was extremely imposing.
"Y-you!" Both of the two degenerates were so infuriated that they could not even speak. Only Clan Master Huo endured the pressure silently.
"Bastard! You will die a horrible death like your son!" Feng Zhi Yi sprouted without thinking. In that instant, he knew that he had f*cked up.
Bai Zhang's laughter immediately come to a halt and abruptly, the surrounding temperature became extremely cold. That was his bottom line; When Feng Zhi Yi brainlessly rattled out, his fate was already sealed.
The pressure that Feng Zhi Yi was facing increased exponentially and soon enough, he felt an immense force pummeling entire body into the ground.
He could not even lift a finger, what more about defending it. The distance between Spirit Ascension stage and Core Formation stage was just too great.
BOOM!
After the initial smash, Feng Zhi Yi bruised body was lifted out of the ground. Just when everyone thought that it would be over, Feng Zhi Yi's body once again kissed the ground.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
After several more collisions, Feng Zhi Yi's white robe was completely drenched in blood, turning it into a crimson red color. At that moment, everyone present held their breaths, not daring to mutter a single word, for fear of incurring the wrath of the madman.
However, Feng Zhi Yi was still Feng Zhi Yi; A brainless fool. As if he did not know what death is, Feng Zhi Yi softly muttered, "Your grandson...will be...will be...the next to di..."

Before he could finish, his whole body was ripped apart by a terrifying pressure, even the flesh exploded into tiny particles.
Soon enough, everyone was drenched in a red color fluid. However, they did not dare to move a single person. The spectacle was terribly bloody and bone-chilling. With that, Bai Zhang sauntered away with a harumph.
Upon seeing that they were free to go, the two remaining Clan Master immediately flew away, disappearing into the distance in a blink of an eye.
When Bai Leng Mo and his grandfather returned into the room, Clan Master Bai muscular body suddenly swayed and instantly, he collapsed onto the floor.
"Grandfather!" Bai Leng Mo immediately rushed forward to support his grandfather.
"It's okay, it's okay. Killing one Core Formation while maintaining the pressure on the other two were still quite taxing after all. I just need some time to recuperate," Clan Master Bai weakly explained as he sat on his chair.
As if remembering something, Clan Master Bai opened up a secret compartment beneath the chair and took out a black-colored book.
The cover page of the black colored book was plain black without any writings on it. It's pages were tattered and flimsy, as if it could turn into ash with just a touch.
"Grandfather..." Bai Leng Mo felt uneasy looking at the book. Although it looked ordinary, Bai Leng Mo could vaguely feel that the book radiated out a faint yet sinister aura.
Solemnly, Clan Master Bai spoke, "Bai Leng Mo, prepare to receive the Bai Clan's inheritance!"
In a swift motion, Bai Leng Mo knelt down on one knee and raised both of his hands to receive the black-colored book.
When Bai Leng Mo made contact with book, he could not help but shiver a little.
Clan Master Bai then spoke, "Even I do not know what it is. However, only use it when your life is in danger. You are, after all, the last hope of Bai Clan."
"Last hope?" Bai Leng Mo was stunned for a second. However, he quickly caught on to what his grandfather was implying.
"Grandfather! You can't just go out there and kill them! You will die!" Throwing away all of his previous formalities, Bai Leng Mo immediately blurted out.
"Where are your manners!" With a heavy slam on the table, Clan Master Bai immediately stood up and expectedly, the table was smashed into useless wooden planks.
"B-but..."
"Enough! Go and dismissed the rest of the servants. Even all of our elders have left, you should go too," Clan Master Bai sternly spoke, not giving a chance for Bai Leng Mo to speak at all.
Silently, Bai Leng Mo turned around and pushed open the door.
Clan Master Bai then added, "You know what the outcome is like. It won't make a difference even if you stayed with me. What you can do now is to hide and grow stronger. In the future... Nevermind. Go..."
"Mmmm..." Bai Leng Mo's eyes turned red as he turned around, taking one last look at his grandfather.
At the same time, his grandfather stared right back at him and gave Bai leng Mo a bitter smile.
Abruptly, Bai Leng Mo immediately ran back and hugged his grandfather. His face was plunged into his grandfather's clothes while he bawled his eyes out.
While crying, Bai Leng Mo kept on repeating, "Grandfather, grandfather, grandfather..."
"It's okay, it's okay..." Clan Master Bai patted Bai Leng Mo on the back while consoling him. He was extremely reluctant to part with his grandson too. But alas! Such is fate.
After a period of time, Bai Leng Mo's crying stopped and eventually, he took a step back and said while gritting his teeth, "Grandfather. I'm going! Take care... I will miss you."
"I will miss you too..." Clan Master Bai affectionately said as one drop of tear uncontrollably rolled down his cheek. Upon sensing that he cried, Clan Master Bai immediately turned away from Bai Leng Mo.
Bai Leng Mo felt that if stayed here any longer, he won't be able to leave anymore. Hence, he immediately dashed away with his tears streaming down his face.
At the same time, Clan Master Bai closed his eyes as those irrepressible tears flowed down.
Both of their hearts were bleeding with pain, it was much more painful than ten thousand swords piercing their hearts.

A Hunt Upon Wings of Shadows
Lianne has spent the last few years of her life as a nomadic monster-hunter, aimlessly taking jobs and disappearing without a trace. Her innately high ether reserves are the only thing that’s keeping her alive. After a painful yet successful contract, she receives an offer to hunt a peculiar beast from a mysterious man who- much to her dismay- pairs her with a man by the name of Sirius, a skilled swordsman with too much empathy to give out. At the same time, inside the impossibly tall walls of the divine city, a group of soldiers including a naive yet powerful girl by the name of Felicia, an exemplar soldier named Raynauld, and a scarred and aloof woman named Maria prepare to head out on a mission to deliver justice to a deserter who is reported to be in a large town far outside the lush interior of the city. However, the two groups will find that their paths will intertwine, and painful memories will push them against each other at every turn, with new monsters emerging from the shadows to pick each of them apart piece by piece. ************************** Alright, so this is the first book I've posted here, and I've been sitting on this idea for a long while. I'm open to any pieces of criticism, and I would be glad to receive tips and advice. Enjoy! Normally, new chapters come out Saturday nights, sometimes double uploads if there's a short chapter or if I feel like it. That's subject to change if I run out of the current backlog. Second note, this is the first draft, and some things (like a few characters) are going to be cut. It's still going to be the same storyline, but keep that in mind.
