《A Journey Through the Worlds.》081: A Wipeout.

"Ask from a sniper to take the one that just shouted out, and any other one that would stand up and try taking lead, take all of them out, we can't let a leader appear on their side." General Schmidt said to the companies' leaders as soon as he saw what was happening.
The companies' leaders were fast in getting things done.
Soon after Schmidt gave his order the wizard who just shouted on the side of Area 05 got shout by a bullet to the head and fall dead.
His death only made the people from Area 12 angrier, but they couldn't do a thing they could only keep on doing what that wizard said before getting killed.
First they all got together after that all the wizards used protection and strengthening spells on the warriors with all their might, they understood that they had no chance to survive as most of them died before even having the chance to do anything.
So at the very least they wanted one of the warriors to make it out to deliver the information about what happened to them and about this new enemy that appeared out of thin air.
They didn't hold anything back as they used their spells, they used all of their Mana which exhaust their bodies and made them fall to their knees weakly, for wizards using all of their Mana in the middle of a fight would only mean death, as they won't even have the power to move.
The warriors all looked at them; they understood that they sacrificed themselves in order for one of them to survive.
Then they all started running in one direction together.
Their armor protected their chests but their heads were unprotected, and even with the protection and strengthening from the wizards taking a bullet to the head would only mean death, so they all crossed their arms over their heads to cover them, that would at least hold one bullet, as because of their training as warriors and the protection of the wizards their bodied were way stronger than normal, and taking one hit to the arm wouldn't be a problem.
The soldiers from Area 05 started firing at them, and many warriors died, but the distance between the two was way to short and with the warriors speed they were able to cover it soon, but not before a lot of them died and their numbers fell to less than half.
In the end when they finally made it to where the soldiers from Area 05 were, the few of them who were in the front tried using their power to open a path for the others behind them to pass through it, but that was easier said than done, as the number of soldiers there was 120 soldiers and even though they weren't shooting as blindly as before because they were on their side and a lot of their allies were on the way and they couldn't use any of the missiles or strong weapons like that, they still fired when they were one hundred percent sure that they would kill the enemy.

So in the end when the warriors finally made it to the other side, only five of them were able to pass, the others were all dead, and even among those five only one was unharmed all the other four were wounded.
Then as soon as they left that encirclement they got close to the ground and started running as fast as they could, after all that place was a forest and it was dark, which helped them a little, but even with that advantage, they only moved a little before one of them got shoot and fall down.
Understanding that he won't survive that warrior got up removed his armor and released his glowing blue tattoos, as warriors can stop those tattoos from appearing on their bodies while they used their powers even though that would make them a little bit weaker because they won't be able to use their full powers.
That warrior decided to become a target for everyone there and he started running as fast as he could on the opposite direction of his friends.
Inside that dark forest and because of his bright blue tattoos he was just like a shining target for the soldiers from Area 05 to aim at.
Knowing that he was trying to buy them time his friends could only clench their fists and ran as fast as they could.
And be it luck or whatever after running for around five hundred meters or so, they found two horses, the horses all ran away after the barrier got destroyed and finding one there was nothing short of a miracle.
Then each two of them got on a horse before separating while wishing each other good luck.
Unfortunately only one out of those four survived and made it to the Royal Academy, for the other two they got shoot by snipers, while the one that was on the horse with him died because of his wounds and only his dead body was able to make it back to the academy.
Hearing about what happened to the wizards and warriors that he sent, the servant face turned pale, and he moved as fast as possible toward the room where the Headmaster was, he had to tell him about what happened, about all those men who appeared out of nowhere and were using weird devices in order to fight.
And even though they were neither warriors nor wizards they were able to kill them.
~~~
General Schmidt was looking at the three men in front of him, they were almost half dead and they were barely breathing.
They were three of those men who were wearing long robes and holding wands, when he saw that those people couldn't move at the end of the fight he asked his soldiers to leave three of them alive.
He wanted to know about that Area and about what they had gotten themselves into, actually he wasn't the only one who wanted to know that, every soldier under him wanted to know what happened, they had to know what those men were and what they were against as to not fall in such a surprising disadvantage.
Schmidt stayed silent for a while as he looked at those three men in front of him, but actually only his eyes were on them as no one was able to know what he was thinking about, anyway after staying silent for a while he finally opened his mouth and said:
"Interrogate them, and not just them I want you to interrogate some of the villagers as well, I want to know as much as possible about... Wizards, warriors and that academy, I want to know everything so do it, and do it fast."
His words weren't hurried and he didn't shout at all, but everyone there was able to tell that he wasn't well, and that he was only a few steps from exploding.
But that's to be expected, after all he was sent to deal with a few barbarians and to finish them as fast as possible before finally returning to his country as a hero, yet he just found out that he had gotten himself and his soldiers in deep trouble, and that his opponents weren't that easy at all.
Don't look at how he won the fight against them that time, as he had used a bigger number of soldiers, elements of surprise and advantage in weapons, yet they let some people run in the end while some of his soldiers ended up dead, that wasn't something to be proud about at all.
He totally understood that he was going to suffer in what was coming, not to mention that his Area was so far away and he was simply on his own while those people can have as much reinforcements as they want.
He didn't have enough ammo neither did he have enough fuel, and most of all he got just a limited number of soldiers, they were a lot but they were limited, he won't got anymore till the next fleet made it there.
He knew that he had to deliver those information about what they found and what that Area was like, but to talk with people from Area 05 he had to send people to a specific place to have a signal for communication.
Thinking till that point he looked at one of his soldiers and said:
"Send someone to this place here and tell them to transmit those information here to our Area also if the signal was good try sending those videos with it." As he said that he wrote a letter and handed it to that soldier, and a USB drive.
That letter explained what they found what they were going through in that Area, basically all the information that they got till that point, and he also asked for reinforcement if they were expected to go on with that mission, while the USB drive had some of the videos that the drones took of the battle, he knew that the chance of the signal being strong enough for them to be sent was small but they had to try as without those videos what he said would sound unbelievable.
The place that he pointed at was one of the few places in Area 12 where communication between the two Areas was possible, that place was a place in the middle of ocean.
The soldier saluted him before leaving the room to execute his orders.
When he left Schmidt looked at his other follows before saying in a heavy voice:
"We are in a bad positions right now, as even with all our efforts we weren't able to stop some of those people from running away, so we should expect another wave of them coming toward us soon, and this time I'm sure that it won't be just four hundred soldiers, and they may even send stronger people then the ones they sent before, so..." as he made it here, he stopped looked at everyone there one by one before saying in a heavy voice:
"We should get ready for a big battle, a battle like nothing we ever saw before, it will be something that we didn't train for, those people aren't normal, and in a normal battle where both sides can only stand opposite to each other and fight I can't say that we would win for sure, especially how we are so far from our Area and we have no one here."
Hearing his words and remembering those weird abilities that their enemies showed, made everyone there feel a hint of fear about what was going to happen to them in those coming days.
Seeing their expressions he nodded his head and added:
"I see that you understand what we are in right now, so hear me, we have nothing here except ourselves and our weapons, we are alone but we can survive, so get your soldiers ready and make them understand what's coming and what we are going to be against, they need to understand that."
Area 01: the headquarter of the big four alliance:
The four elders were there as always studying the changes that were happening in the new earth, from their fight to the fight that started between Area 05 and Area 12 to the male dragon and his staying in Area 11 'the one to the south of Area 06' and also the first meeting between Area 05 and 06.
"I don't know if you know about this or not but a new war has started between Area 05 and Area 12." Ronald said starting the meeting.
"What can we do, let them be, we have enough problems on our own." Moore said while shaking his head.
The Paths of Magick
Credits: Story by Xcaliburnt. Cover Art by @Bervolart. Magick, the power to bend the laws of reality. All because of a mystical substance known as mana. Mages follow the Paths to achieve power, for there is no more addictive chase. Each Path winds and twists, forcing mages through the flames of adversity and challenge. Though the operative word is "path", the reality is far less straightforward. Instead of a road, Paths are like the branches of world trees, erupting into the heavens, intertwining, and ending in sharp snaps. Only the strongest reach the sky. There are several Paths, and many Ways to walk them—variations of the same Path, and like the stars, they are endless. Magick is the sacred flame that scours the fat, rendering the truest self. Superfluous flesh melting away to show the skeleton of one's being. A chance for ascension—apotheosis. Though not every mage works to godhood, if they survive long enough, It is inescapable. Witness the lives of those that tread the knife's edge of self-destruction. Each one intertwined in their search for answers, revenge, and, most of all: power. These individuals have all lost something precious—irreplaceable—and In search of filling the void left behind, they have taken up the mantle of a mage. Per aspera ad astra. Ad mortem vel divinitatis. (Through adversity to the stars. To death or divinity.) There is no consistent release schedule except my consistent inconsistency. Besides, there’s like a thousand pages worth of content, how can—you already read it? Goddamn. Oh, and there is a very long hiatus between volumes as I intend to edit and rewrite a lot. What to Expect: This story is progression fantasy, so expect a healthy dose of training. It's also heavy on slice of life, and it isn't entirely overarching-plot-driven. Expect characters to live their lives, and not always be on some quest to save the world. There's a lot of magic theory and discussion about it in the story. So, if you don't like impromptu lessons on sorcerous theory by traveling monster slayers, this might not be for you. But if you do like it, rejoice! For there is a lot of it. This is also heavy on prose, purple as a bruised eye. I use outdated, uneccesarily collegiate-level terms and play around with the writing style just for the heck of it. I find it fun to wax and wane poetic, and that might grate on you—I don’t plan to change this aspect of the Paths much if at all. Onto the viewer discretion is advised parts: This is grim-dark/ grim-heart. Take the tags seriously. There will be combat scenes that are brutal and horrifying. Fights to the death tend to be. This is a tale about medieval mercenaries (quite literal killers for hire), man-eating monsters, and eldritch gods beyond the material plane. Beside that, there will be traumatic events that are best left unread. I do not detail certain acts I find heinous enough, instead leaving some parts unwritten but still alludded to if not outright stated; there is simply no graphic narration thereof. This is not for the faint of heart.
