Of course Dan was the winner in the end, and he done it as easily as that, while Nero and Randy almost ended up in draw before Randy won in the end.
As they were talking and having fun among each other, they suddenly heard a familiar sound, there was the sound of explosions, roars, and destruction coming from above.
"Another two dragons fighting." Dan said after a few seconds passed.
"Hey Dan, those two dragons outside are fighting, right? So they won't notice... Let's say some audience?" the noise kept on moving further and further away, before Nero asked with a weird look on his face.
"I think that that can be good, so say Dan they won't mind an audience right?" Randy added as soon as Nero finished his words.
"An audience..." Dan murmured before smiling in a teasing way, and saying:
"I don't think they would have time for that, so what? you want to be that audience?"
"Of course. Let's hurry up and see." before even finishing his words, Nero was already running out of the room.
The others looked at each other before following him out too, it would be a lie to say that they weren't afraid, but they were also interested in the power of the creatures which were able to destroy a civilized world, in just a few years, so in the end their curiosity won over their fear and they ran as fast as they could after Nero to the surface.
It was then that must of them noticed something weird, they were different from before, their speed was different from before, some of the guards that were on their way weren't even able to react to them before they passed, leaving only a gust of wind, leaving them like that rooted on their places looking at each other.
Even though he was the first to move Nero wasn't the first person to make it to the entrance of the underground base, as when he stopped and looked ahead of him he found that Robin and Dan were already there.
"Hell, how did you pass me?" Nero asked in surprise voice while looking at Dan.
"I just passed you" Dan plainly said.
Then he turned his head to the guard that was standing there looking at them as if he saw a ghost he found that it was the same guard who was there when they took control of the gang.
"Can you open the door." Dan finally asked after he saw that the guard was just looking at them foolishly.
"Oh! Yeah I'll do it right away." Even after hearing what Dan said the man took a while to understand all what was happening, and answering hurriedly.
He wondered why Dan and the others were there as he had just head the sound of dragons fighting, thinming till here his face became pale and his hands started shaking as he opened the locks, because he understood what they wanted to do.
As soon as the man opened the door, Dan and the others left the room, passed the door, and hid in different places.
The first thing that they saw when they looked up was two flying creatures tingled together in the sky, both of them were trying to bite and scratch each other, while releasing defying roars.

Soon the two dragons separated and moved in to different direction giving the impression that they were going to stop their fight, but they just made a turn and started charging toward each other, they kept on getting closer and closer in an astonishing speed, till there was only twenty meters between them, where they both opened their mouths releasing a frightening breath. The two breaths met in the sky and made a big ball of fire, covering the sight of both dragons but they still kept on moving toward each other.
One of them opened its mouth and turned its head down a little while the other, moved its legs to the front like a furious bird attacking its prey.
And they clashed with each other in the exact location where the fireball was, disappearing inside it, when they appeared again both of them were injured.
The one that attacked with its claws had it better, it only had a little wound on its belly while the other one had a wound that almost split one of its wings, making it fall to the ground without control.
Wasting no time at all, the other one, even though it was injured, followed the wounded dragon to the ground, and started biting and clawing at it, the wounded one tried to resisted by biting and struggling, unfortunately it wasn't able to do anything as the other one was above it.
Finally a winner was decided, it flew to the air took a few rounds while looking at the injured dragon, before releasing a defying roar and flying away proudly.
The other dragon wasn't dead, as that rarely happens between dragons, even when fighting for prey or for females, but it was severely wounded.
It had a big wound on one of its wings, while the other seemed as if it was dislocated, it also had some big wounds on its stomach, and even a few on its neck but they weren't much.
Even though Dan and the others were only able to see the last part of the fight, it still showed them some of the powers if a dragon.
"So that's a dragon..." finally Anie murmured after a long period of silence.
She was afraid, seeing such invincible creatures fighting among themselves showed her just how insignificant she was, not just her everyone their lost some of the arrogant that they got after defeating the one eyed dragon the other power users and becoming blood power users themselves.
"So that's what a dragon is really capable of, huh?" Randy said with an interested look in his face, even though he was chased by one, and he was the only one who had a close encounter with one, that was still his first time seeing dragons going wild against each other.
"Nero, how far is the range of your ability right now?" while they were still stock on that fight between those two dragons in their memories, they heard Dan's question whicb was directed at Nero.
"Em, it's around six kms and half I think." Nero though a little before saying.
"That's pretty great." Dan said with a smile on his face, after all the stronger Nero's ability was the stronger their chance of avoiding danger was.

As Dan was happy about that Nero got close to him and whispered:
"Hey Dan I was thinking... You see that dragon, the one who lost I mean. It seems injured, and I mean real bad, do you think that we can..." he didn't finish his words but Dan was able to understand him clearly, and his smiling expression changed at once to a serious one.
He started thinking about the chance of that happening with the least casualties, but unfortunately he wasn't able to decide if it was something they could do.
It would be a lie to say that he wasn't tempted, as a dragon's body was simply a treasure, just its blood had such a great effect on humans, who knows what other effects the others parts of its body must have, but even though he was tempted he wouldn't lose his rationality over it.
After all, a dragon was still a dragon, even a wounded one still has the power to kill.
The others didn't hear what Nero said to Dan, but seeing the latter's expression change to one of seriousness, they wondered what it was all about.
"Nero just asked me if we could kill the wounded dragon." after a while of silence Dan finally lifted his head and looked at everyone while saying that.
His words made everyone there dumbfound, it wasn't like the thought of hunting a dragon never crossed their minds, most of them had it after tasting the effect of the blood baths.
Yet even if they had it, after seeing he power of those two dragons fighting that thought disappeared without a trace, yet hearing Dan talk about it made their hearts beat fast, thinking: 'can we do it'.
"Do we have a chance?" Randy asked.
You can say that the ones who wanted to hunt a dragon the most were those that tried the body tempering technique, after all they wished for that increase of power even more after using it once.
"It's impossible, if it was a normal dragon that is, but with this one and taking our powers in consideration I think that we might have a chance." Dan first words made them dejected, but the later part lifted their spirit.
"So when should we act?" Leonard asked in excitement.
"Wait, first let's think of this as a team, I will now say our advantages and disadvantages with this dragon, and after that you tell me if you think we should do it." Dan didn't answer Leonard's question instead he looked at everyone and said that.
Seeing them nod, he said:
"Our first and biggest advantages is its inability to fly, as we all could see, the dragon fall from the sky a flying dragon is a an impossible target, just its speed can take anyone to the depth of despair, and its wounded, which is also an advantage on its own, a wounded dragon can never be as strong as a normal one, also after staying for a while on this state it will become hungry and thirsty making it even weaker, all of those our advantages, now to the disadvantages."
"The first thing that you should all know is that a dragon will release a unique roar when its cornered and close to its death door, no matter who pushed it to that stage, be it a dragon or anything else, as even a dragon isn't allowed to kill a dragon, when other dragons hear that roar they would leave everything they were doing and come to its help, and this is our first problem." Dan said.
"We can wait for the Great Migration to start and then we won't have to worry about that, right?" Randy said.
"Of course we can do that, but we will waste sometime, after all the Great Migration isn't that long." it wasn't Dan who answered Randy's question, instead it was, Robin he said that while shacking his head.
"It's just as Robin said, this is another disadvantage, the Great Migration is already short, add to that how the ships are already slow, we might put ourselves in a problem if we waste any more of our time on unnecessary things, but also dragons don't only have dragon blood on them, but that's the only thing that humans were able to got, who knows what the other parts of its body can do."
"I will say it first, we won't have another chance like this ever again, we might leave this world here, but who knows we might find ourselves on a horrible place the same as this one or even worst, at that time we might regret not being stronger, not taking this chance, so I think that we should do it." Nero was the first one to talk, he didn't really spend a lot of time thinking about it, because for him, it was obvious which choice was better, his life as a soldiers made him learn that something being dangerous doesn't mean that it is bad, rather it might lead to better things.
"I also have the same idea as Nero this is a great chance, and we shouldn't waste it." Randy said, his reasoning was the same as Nero so he also didn't think a lot.
"I will go with whatever my brother choose." Anie said.
"Well I think that we should try it, but can my sister stay out of it?" Robin said.
"Brother what do..." Any shouted after hearing her brothers words, but he patted her head and looked at her gently making her stop her words, she understood her brother the best after all.
"That can be done, but you should know that you won't be able to protect her forever, especially in a world like this, you know that right?" Dan nodded his head, but he still gave Robin an advice.
"I know but at least I want to protect her against such a strong opponent." Robin didn't act angry or anything like that instead he answered him calmly, after all he understood the real world pretty well, and his request was just the selfishness of a brother.

Entangled Fates Book 1 - Quantum Beginnings
“By far, the greatest danger of Artificial Intelligence is that people conclude too early that they understand it.” —Eliezer Yudkowsky Hey all, we're moving over to book 2. This content is in a state of transition. The book is now availble on Amazon (includes extra chapters): https://www.royalroad.com/amazon/B07W1534R8 Artificial intelligence was nearly mankind’s last invention. AI took off like a rocket, then when it racked up an impressive death toll, it crashed before it could blossom and took most high-tech industries with it. Resistance and fears became deep-set. Two decades after the infamous Rev. 4.6 incidents, humanity hasn’t quit dreaming of the wealth and power that could be at their fingertips. A new generation of mega-corporations rose from the ashes. When one melds a quantum computer to a barely functional mental patient as a PR move, there are those who seek to profit, those who want to destroy it, and Alex. Alex Sage is a typical college student trying to keep up his grades and maybe find a meaningful connection with the fairer sex. Then, an automated semi crashes into his home, killing his family and turning his head into a pin cushion in the process. Alex awakens to find most of his memories gone and an illegal AI hidden in his brain implant. Now the pet project of a tech billionaire and heavily in debt, Alex struggles to stay valuable enough to be kept online. Still grappling with the repercussions of his injuries, and threats from a dangerous anti-augmentation political movement, there are no easy answers and threats loom around every corner. Alex must use whatever resources he can to escape from under the thumb of a ruthless corporation, while keeping those he comes to love safe. Chapters will stay up on RRL until Aug 10. It'll go up on Kindle Unlimited after that. How do you get those extra chapters I didn't have planned for RR? If you want them, they'll be in the published book. Book 2 will still make sense without them - I made sure of that. But... isn't $3 a lot for extra chapters? Think of it as tipping me for a good job and you'd also be getting my eternal thanks. If you enjoyed it so much that the idea of missing out a few chapters haunts you, I did my job as an author and made an engaging story. What's in those extra chapters? Resolving a few issues, set up for the cybernetic revolution, a rather intense sex scene with a new partner, revelations of who's really pulling strings, and a bit of set up for book 2. Complaints that people missed out on it when it was published here won't help (sorry!). I posted this for the folks who helped me shape the book, which is you all! (Again, yay!) But... Why! Why not keep it all on RR forever? My editor likes being paid for one. For two, I'd like the ability to get broader readership. If I break even on editor costs, I'll be incredibly happy. What about book 2? Drafts for Book 2 will go up around Sept 10. My draft of Book 2 is done, and it will be handed to the editor once Book 1 is published. Feedback has been even more positive. Beta readers devoured it and wanted more. I'll add a link to Book 2 once it's up on RR. I'm more or less, using you all for Beta Readers, so you get it before it's "canon" and edited. I invite active and meaningful feedback during this process. In return, you get early access to chapters. That does mean that the book content or plot might be adjusted before it gets published as I refine it. Sex Y/N? Yes. I heard the feedback, 90% wanted it explicit. You all will get the "full" experience. Will I dump all of book 2 here? Honestly, I'm not sure yet. At a minimum, it'll be up to the 75% mark as we collect feedback, much like what I did with book 1. It really depends on how good the feedback is and how nice people are. Lots of support + meaningful feedback to make it better = higher likelihood you get all the book. Will be it up here indefinitely? No, it'll probably go up on KU at some point, but I'll make sure there's enough time for a large readership to grab it here. Then we move to book 3 which already is around 60K words already. What about other adventures in the same universe/characters? Yep. Absolutely. Nothing ready to share yet though. I plan to keep those side chapters and more slice of life stories as RR exclusive. Since I'm carving this off in book-sized segments, I'll have to figure out where those disconnected story arcs belong. I'm open to suggestions.
