《Azura the Slayer》Chapter 30: Strange Well

Azura raised an eyebrow at him while she put on a pondering expression. Turning around, she waved her hand which removed the paralysing effect on him.
Slow stretching, Han Su stood up and closed his eyes.
“My mech, Pandora, is on it’s way here. Since you’re the closest thing I have to going back home I’ll stick with you.” He reattached and sorted his items as he spoke.
“You said that a man with a black crystal did all that?” Azura turned around and asked.
Freezing slightly, he nodded. “Indeed. The only notable feature apart from that was his pitch black eyes.”
“Black eyes.. No.. He’s too young..” Azura muttered as she frowned.
“Well, it doesn’t matter anyway! We’re leaving now right?” Amelia hopped up from the chair. When she heard the story, she felt chills that only disappeared once the atmosphere relaxed.
Azura nodded, slightly distracted.
Seeing Azura agree, Wilhelm also stood up and packed his items before walking out and towards reception.
Not long after, they gathered in front of the hotel as they waited for their carriage.
As they waited, they noticed many more city guards patrolling the streets and searching every building. As a squad approached them Han Su lowered his head.
The guards merely glanced at them and proceeded towards the hotel and asked to see all the guests.
“Quickly.” As the others were too distracted, a burst of wind hit them as Artemis ran to Azura.
With a slight smile, she petted her and hopped on. “You guys go ahead, I want to check something out.”
Azura patted Artemis as a barely noticeable white light flowed from Azura and into Artemis. Revealing an expression of ecstasy, she turned into a silhouette as she galloped to the city wall and in one jump, jumped over the 20 meter wall guarding the city.

Letting out an expression of delight, Azura hugged Artemis as she glided to a nearby forest.
As the trees below them grew bigger and bigger, Artemis slowed down and began to prepare to land in a patch of clear land.
Letting out a light snort, she braced her legs and left deep pits in the earth as her speed decreased.
Circling around the patch and coming to a stop. Azura happily brushed Artemis' navy mane with her hand and hopped off.
Looking around, Azura saw a lone, decrepit well at the edge. The grass around it had been turned red and wiggled like worms.
Approaching the well carefreely, she plucked a grass from the ground which quickly withered and disintegrated in her hand.
“Huh?” Letting out a voice of surprise, Azura picked up another grass, which quickly turned into nothing.
Following behind Azura, Artemis suddenly felt an itch on her legs. She let out a startled sound as she started jumping and ran out of the red area.
Azura let out an annoyed expression as she stared at the grass extending and creeping up her legs.
“Fire.” A blue flame appeared around her which quickly burnt an area around her which became a deadzone.
“I.. I’m just going to stay here..” Artemis let out a whimper as she gnawed on her legs trying to get rid of the remains of the grass.
Nodding, Azura turned her attention to the well which, upon closer inspection, was filled with strange symbols.
Putting her hand to the symbols, she slowly traced them, and everywhere her finger passed, the dirt and moss disappeared.
After she traced the symbols on one side, she took a step back. The symbols glowed with a green light due to the material the well was made of, creating a beautiful contrast between the dirty well and the clean, glowing symbols.

“This is a weird well.. Why would someone make a well from these precious looking materials?” She muttered and looked at the shutters being locked in place with a slab of rock with a symbol that looks like a door.
“Open!” Azura let out a small shout and the entire well trembled. But that was it. It only trembled.
“Oh?” She looked to the slab of rock which now had deep cracks, but all of the cracks seemed to go around the symbol, as if it was an island.
“Interesting!” Azura let out a big smile as she kissed her finger and pressed it down on the symbol, instantly cracking it.

My Isekai
For those not familiar with the isekai genera, this story is about a man waking up in an unknown world. The story follows his journey and life in this world, which does not only look different on the surface, but the common norms and values of this world are very alien to the modern western mindset. How will this average western person respond to such a world, and how will it change him. For those familiar with isekai, this is a western take on a predominantly Japanese story format. It draws a lot of inspiration from Japanese isekai, but it also tries to tackle a lot of tropes that might be annoying to the western mindset. The story is not written for young boys as the story tries to take a mature take on some typical clichés and assumptions made by both the typical writer and reader of the genera.
