《Azura the Slayer》Chapter 22: Park

The guards, seeing their exquisite clothes, didn’t bother them and only stood steadfast.

In the park there were many beautiful flowers and neatly arranged trees which were all blooming, a myriad of colours appeared before them.

The paths all had their own unique coloured tiles leading around the park, starting from the entrance where the path was a rainbow.

In the center of the park was a grand fountain. In the fountain were different animals all spewing water from their mouths, while in the center was a large gargoyle on a pillar with faces on all sides of its head. It’s eyes glowed red as they moved, looking at everyone who entered and stayed in the surroundings.

“That thing is so creepy, if it weren’t for the fact that it can stop any thief and pervert I would’ve gotten my father to demolish it a long time ago!” An arrogant voice sounded, causing everyone to look at the source.

Behind Azura, a group of teenagers mostly composed of young girls entered the park.

At the front of the group was an arrogant and intimidating girl dressed in a red frilly skirt beside a timid and curious girl in a somewhat plain blue dress, that upon a closer look was actually very beautiful.

Suddenly the group stopped. The girl in the red dress stared at Amelia with a glare and looked towards the back of her group. “Bran, come here.” She barked to 1 of the 2 boys in her group.

Bran with a constipated face came forward. The girl locked her arm with Bran and leaned her head against his shoulder.

By now, the entire park, which was usually full of chatter and laughs was now silent. Everyone stared at the group.

Slowly passing by Azura and Amelia, the girl gave a provocative glance at Amelia before pointing her nose into the air and ignoring her.

Before long, the chatter of the park returned, only everyone was discussing what had just happened.

“Wasn’t that Sofia Lenzt? I thought that she went back home?” A scholarly boy asked his friend.

“Yeah, yeah, that was Sofia! She’s so~ beautiful! Hey, do you think I have a chance? Who was that next to him anyway, how dare he be so close to her!” His muscular friend asked in turn.

“Why would the heir of the Lenzt Dukedom even look at you, a small count. That was Bran Burgundy, though it’s strange. Isn’t he meant to be Amelia’s Fiancee? Scum!” The scholarly boy spat at him in disdain.

Hearing the boys’ exchange, Azura looked to Amelia with curiosity.

Seeing Azura look at her. She waved her hands quickly, “It’s fine, it’s fine! Me and grandfather are planning to call off the marriage. He only wanted me and him to marry to live a good life anyway, not because we’re in love. Only Azura can protect and care for me now~” With a big smile she explained as she hugged Azura’s arm.

“My arm is going to be numb if you keep hugging it like that everytime.” Azura’s smile twitched as Amelia ran back to hugging the same spot.

“Let’s go to my favourite spot in the park~ It’s along the blue path!” Azura nodded as she saw the blue path leading towards the seemingly artificial, yet beautiful lake with a pier.

Sitting on the pier, both of them took off their boots and socks, putting their feet into the water.

Azura expected the water to be somewhat cold, even if it was summer, water was usually cold. But surprisingly, the water was mild and felt very comfortable.

“You see those red spots at the bottom of the lake? Those are Fire Crystals, they keep the lake warm and it helps fish and other aquatic life grow here.” Azura looked at the small red spots that made the lake much more beautiful. Even if the lake was quite deep, it was very clear, allowing her to see them.
