Chapter 34: Dracaryx Unleashed!

This is the third round of the Dragon Knights Tournament. From the first round which originally have sixty four contenders, they were cut into only thirty two to fight in round two. Now, there are only sixteen participants to fight in the coliseum for round three.

Rudolf and his lover Kyrie stood modestly in the center of the arena, facing their two enemies. The dragon knight is a buffed guy with impressive set of biceps, which makes his white tux uniform fitted. He has a lot of tattoos on his arm, primarily of Japanese characters. I think those words translate to “Unleash”, “Prison”, “Discipline” and stuff.

His dragonoid is a petite lady, maybe even shorter than Duchess Corasell. She has a dark complexion, yet there is a sense of wealthiest on her. She’s wearing frills, and there is a diamond tiara on her blonde white hair.

“This is our first battle in this Sunday! Rudolf Azregon versus Adrian Kruszewski.” The Emcee shouted. “Let the battle begin!”

The two knights unsheathed their swords and dashed to each other. The macho Adrian revealed his buster sword, which is about as big as his whole body. Buster swords are the heaviest kind of swords and would weigh above fifty kilos each. Wielding those would mean you will be sacrificing your attack speed for attack power.

But in this case, Adrian seems to be keeping his speed up. Everytime Rudolf makes a slashing attack, he is able to block it in time. He’s only slower than Rudolf for a quarter of second. But his timings are very good, but not enough. Rudolf managed to shave off three percent of shield every time he makes wonderful combos of side thrusts and swift hacks.

“Activating Vesryn Pulse!” Adrian shouted. It is the ideal timing since his Shield Plate only have around 40%. Rudolf is currently winning with his shield for 87%.

Rachel (Adrian’s dragonoid partner. Airi told me her name a few seconds ago.) transformed into an eight-meter dragon. This dragon has no legs nor arms, but it has three paris of tattered reddish wings. It has the head of a skull of a tyrannosaurus, and its body is mainly a gigantic series of chains. Chains, up to the extent of its tail. That is why this type of dragon is obviously called Chain Dragon.

To his arrogance, Rudolf didn’t use Vesryn Pulse. He ordered Kyrie to stay at the back and just support him with her magic. He may be boastful but his power is enough to take down the two. Especially with his Voice of the Emperor. Talk about imbalanced power.

The Chain Dragon opened its mouth and nine chains chased Kyrie. Rudolf managed to cut those chains with his reflexive sword defense, but additional chains continued to release from the dragon’s mouth as if those steel ropes are endless! In the end, the Chain Dragon got both of Kyrie’s arms constricted.

Rudolf clicked his tongue. I know that he underestimated his opponent. Adrian is also a forced to be reckoned with. That guy will not survive until third round if he is not outstanding. Rudolf has to use Vesryn Pulse after all.

“Activating Vesryn Pulse!” He shouted. Kyrie finally evolved to the powerful Chaos Dragon. The chains dissolved as soon as the Chaos Dragon emitted a dark aura that coated her own body. That Chaos Aura is like a flame that can even melt steel beams.

His macho opponent was impressed, but he held a confident smile. “As I thought, a Chevalier Knight is a powerful opponent.” He said.

“You’re powerful too.” Rudolf smiled back. “There are only two opponents where I needed to use my Vesryn Pulse.”

Then he turned to me, who happened to be watching from the bench. He keeps his smile, saying that I’m the one he’s talking about. Why? Yes, I’ve fought him and his Chaos Dragon when I am the Black Phantom. I don’t remember fighting him and using Vesryn Pulse. Maybe he already caught me. Darn.

“DRACARYX!” Adrian immediately shouted. The Chain Dragon is now absorbing particles of light from its mouth! “Activating Iron Maiden Imprisonment!”

Suddenly, there was a long tremor. The audiences lost their composure and started to become terrified. Duchess Corasell, who was watching along with us, hung onto my arm in fear. Airi also hugged my other arm in jealousy of the duchess. It felt so awkward to me that I just never reacted to these girls, making me look like I’m a womanizer.

Countless gigantic chains broke open the arena grounds and wrapped Rudolf and the Chaos Dragon to completely immobilize them. But what’s surprising is the chaos aura seems to have no effect on the chains! It can’t be dissolved by magic, nor can be broken by brute force! Those are certainly destruction-resistance chains. It seems that the more force exerted to destroy the chains, the more it hardens!

I was astounded. So this is the power of the Dracaryx. It was such an amazing power. I turned to Airi who seems to have her eyes sparkling on the view of the power of this divine magic. We wanted to have that kind of power too. If only we know how to unlock it…we would’ve had no problem fighting the Chevalier Unit…maybe…

Meanwhile, the Chain Dragon reverted to her humanoid form, which immediately lost consciousness. The only drawback of the Dracaryx is that the dragonoid’s heart will completely stop for a minute, thus cancelling the Vesryn Pulse.

Adrian walked slowly to the constricted knight, who is struggling not to pass out. The chains are seriously suffocating Rudolf, and for some reason, the Shield Plates are not affected. His shield is about 80% but without the ability to move a finger, he can’t continue this fight. Adrian can just secure free hits until he depletes Rudolf’s shield.

Victory is at hand but then…

“DRACARYX!!!” Rudolf shouted with all his might. “Activating Swords of Eternal Light!”

The Chaos Dragon was converted into a glowing ball of golden light, and then it surged towards the skies! The heavens opened and then fifteen golden swords, about three meters in length and half a meter thick, started raining on the winning opponent!

There was a series of crashing noise and thick smoke that makes it appear like a warzone. A few moments later, the center of the coliseum made it clear to see the standing victor. The macho dragon knight is there lying unconscious in the dusty ground with his shield plate at 0%. All the chains are finally gone for good.

Rudolf is the last man standing, carrying the humanoid form of his love. I can see in his eyes that he wanted to fight without hurting Kyrie, but he has no choice. He has to win no matter what.

Now that I think of it, what’s the reason for him in winning this tournament? Both of us decided to join in order to fight stronger opponents and savor the thrill of battling, but is that it? I doubt he doesn’t have to use Dracaryx and should’ve used his Voice of the Emperor instead.

I have a feeling that he used his Dracaryx to show it to me. To show how powerful he really is.

“The winner of this awesome fight is Rudolf Azregon!” The emcee shouted in enthusiasm. Then the crowd went frenzy and loud.

The first battle of the third round is certainly entertaining to watch, especially to General Kyle over there, which is having that lunatic smile. He’s proud of his subordinate who is able to defeat almost anyone in this tournament.

Now, Kyle’s other subordinate- Reina will fight in this very moment.

But then another plot twist surprised us.

Reina entered the stage as usual. But her partner…is not Eva.

Her partner is now tall man with a black spiky hair, with a tattoo of omega sign on his forehead. As we saw this very man, Airi and I jumped in confusion as we looked at each other.
