《Finding Stardust》Chapter 40 - Learn To Wait And Be Patient Like Haoran

Emma didn't have time to think about how she could suddenly read Haoran's mind because a feeling of euphoria was slowly overwhelming her mind. As they kissed, Haoran's lips were so soft that she couldn't hold back and nibble it a bit.
She didn't know a man's lips could taste sweet and fresh like this. Ah, Emma really liked it!
Haoran noticed Emma was enjoying their kiss, so he attempted to go a bit further. He pulled her body against his chest and claimed her lips with burning passion as he slowly thrust his tongue through her slightly open lips and explored her mouth.
Emma quickly learned and responded to his initiative. For a few minutes, they stayed in the same position as the two enjoyed their heavenly kisses—Emma's arms wrapped around Haoran's neck, and Haoran hugging her waist.
Minutes went by before they finally let go. Haoran was a good swimmer and could hold his breath underwater for a long time, while Emma... well, she could control the air.
Their bodies were moving in harmony, so when Emma broke free, Haoran also did at the same time. The two gazed at each other with their faces only inches away; their hearts' thumping on their chests.
'You're so beautiful...' Haoran lovingly stared at Emma with full of admiration.
"Thank you..." Emma said softly, her cheeks flushed red. She knew she was beautiful, but this was the first time she had felt happy being complimented for her physical appearance.
"Thank you for what?" Haoran asked in bewilderment.
Suddenly, Emma realized Haoran had uttered nothing; she had rather read his mind. Emma appeared stunned as she tried to find an excuse so Haoran wouldn't be suspicious.
"Ahh... thank you for thinking of me and helping with my problems. You make me feel like I'm not alone anymore," Emma said, hoping she had managed to find the right excuse.

"Oh," Haoran nodded and smiled. "Thank you also for... the kiss... Ahem! Ahem! My headache's gone now."
"Is it really gone?" Emma tilted her head slightly and tried to remember something she had read about people kissing. "Maybe it's gone because when people kiss, the oxytocin hormone flows into your brain in large quantities, which can relieve pain and reduce stress."
Haoran chuckled at Emma's statement. He knew Emma was a genius and knew many things. The girl could even talk about chemicals released by the brain when people were kissing right after they did it.
"You must be right," Haoran said, nodding. He released his hands off her waist and sat properly on the sofa. Emma also let go of her arms around the young man's neck and took the laptop from the table and placed it on her lap.
"I'm glad to hear that your headache is gone," Emma said, before shifting her attention to Haoran's laptop and examining its contents. "You said you've found references for me to read?"
"Oh, that's right. I took some notes and links on my laptop. Let me show you."
Haoran leaned over and opened a document on the desktop. There were many links and even short notes on various materials she might need. The girl nodded and smiled when she read the notes.
"It's very comprehensive. Thank you!" She touched Haoran's cheek before focusing again on the laptop.
"Please read it and check. It seems like, this summer holiday, we'll all be busy. The boys and I will have to take summer classes to improve our total exam scores to get into class A, while you go to NUS to take a summer course on computer science, "said Haoran.
"You've thought of everything," Emma commented.

"Well, I have. Remember, I'm a thorough planner. I've even made plans for the next six years," Haoran answered. "I'm a very patient person when I really want something."
Emma tilted her head to Haoran and smiled slightly. She admitted Haoran was indeed patient. For nearly the four months they had known each other, Haoran did nothing special to approach Emma. Although they had spent a lot of time together, Haoran didn't show openly that he liked Emma.
He kept his distance from Emma at school, respecting her wishes, and during the tutoring sessions, they were also always with the boys, but Haoran didn't try to flirt with Emma romantically. Somehow, slowly but surely, he managed to plant a deep impression on the girl.
Now, on their last day in Paris, he could even get a kiss from Emma, without the initiative of his side. Ha!
"You are a patient person," Emma agreed. "I want to have your patience."
"If you want to be patient like me, you'll have to be with me often," Haoran said casually. "As the saying goes, 'you are who you surround yourself with.' That's why people who have lazy friends will become lazy too."
Emma didn't reply because she knew Haoran was right.
"Please, make yourself at home, I'll go pack my suitcase." Haoran fixed his clothes before excusing himself into his bedroom and started packing. Meanwhile, Emma buried herself in the references Haoran had prepared for her. Occasionally, she would make her own notes.
Time went by so fast when people were busy. Suddenly, it was already noon, and Haoran ordered lunch in the suite. The two enjoyed their meal while chatting about their summer class plans.
"I guess, with your latest test scores, it wouldn't be difficult for you to enter Class A," Emma said, sipping her fruit juice. "But I don't know about the others. They might have to settle for moving to Classes B or C. Do you think they'd mind?"
"We'll see about that," said Haoran. "I still want them to try and not give up now."
"I agree."

At exactly 3 PM, the students from St. Catherine had been gathered in the hotel's lobby and were preparing to leave for the airport. Some students took their last pictures together and uploaded their experiences on social media.
Emma felt a little sad when she boarded the shuttle bus. Although she did find information about her parents and also obtained most of her memories, she still wasn't willing to leave France.
This place, after all, was her second home, where she was born and enjoyed the first few years of her life with her parents. A piece of her heart permanently stayed in Paris.
"Come on, Emma. Don't look back. You'll be sadder if you keep thinking about it," Haoran whispered. "We can go to Paris again, but now we must go home."
Emma nodded. She did have to go back. They still had a lot of things to do once they were back in Singapore. She must learn to wait and be patient like Haoran.

The Priest of Genes
Meet Seth, acolyte in the Church of Virtue. He’ll be a Priest like his father soon, he just knows it. Sure he didn’t inherit his mother’s preaching power, but he doesn’t mind being the secondary priest at whatever temple he is assigned to. Just as long as he has a library. Meet this genetics textbook. Hmm, that doesn’t belong here. It must have come from somewhere far away, I guess something happened to its owner. I’m sure a studious young man who likes healing could go far with this information, whether he wants to or not. This is my first time really writing anything, so I hope you like it! Please let me know if I make any mistakes; I have a new R&D tech job at a genomics company, so I probably don’t edit as much as some people. I’m shooting for two thousand-ish word chapters released on Sundays, since none of the webnovels I read ever seem to update that day. Underserved Market! Genre is fantasy, possibly progression fantasy. Maybe a tiny bit litRPG if you wait a while and squint really hard, but that’s the most I’m prepared to claim. Hedged my bets on the content warnings, nothing that bad. Cover art from A. W. Gelman
