Roy curled his lips. He then turned around and serenely stated: “Via Arum… You can stand up.” Roy nodded.
“Yes, thank you, Sovereign!” Via Arum stands up, her attitude respectful to the extreme. And Roy could tell her respectful manner was sincere from the heart and not a mere pretense.
“How did you get here? Who injured you?” Roy asked after thinking for a moment.
“Replying to Sovereign, this servant went into this lower world to find the inheritor of the Conqueror of the Abyss's Legacy, The Sovereign. And was injured on the way here by natural turbulence in the spatial teleportation." She said feeling a little embarrassed.
"When I was awoken there's only this little monkey who helped me in reaching this place. It even plucked that black fruit for me to eat, and was shocked to find that my external injuries were healed in just a few hours," she added.
"Eh? Wait!" Roy was shocked at this revelation.
"Lower World? You mean this world is.. of lower quality or something?" he asked curiously.
"Yes. There are countless lower worlds in the universe with naturally lower natural spiritual qi, and this world is one of them." Via said slowly while gasping an air.
"So," he touched his chin in a thoughtful manner, "There is a higher world out there?" he directed his gaze into the blue sky, seemingly in deep thought.
"Yes," she responded respectfully.
"As for the upper world, this servant couldn't give too many details, as that was meant for the Abyss Gate's Inheritor, The Sovereign, to discover it himself as a trial for assessing the qualifications. The rules have been passed down from the Ancient Era."
Having heard Via Arum’s explanation, it became clear to Roy why her meridians were broken, and her body had such severe injuries.

“Lay down, let me first treat your injuries,” said Roy after pondering for a moment. He wanted to know more about the Abyss’s Gate and its current situation, but with Via Arum’s serious injuries, it was more important first to stabilize her condition.
“Sovereign, my body’s broken veins…” Via Arum hesitated before asking.
In general, broken veins were incurable unless he could find those legendary elixirs.
“You don’t need to worry.” Roy waved his hand, and said, “I can reconnect your veins, it’s just that it will take about a few months.”
“Sovereign! You can reconnect my broken veins?” Via Arum was very shocked; it was not that she doubted Roy, but she felt it was too bizarre! Could it be that the Sovereign was in possession of a legendary elixir?
“Sit down first.”
Via Arum’s heart was filled with questions but she dared not defy orders. She answered respectfully and lie down. Once she lie down, Roy put his palms on Via Arum’s stomach and circulated his spiritual energy from the Voidweaver Ring, thereby transferring it to Via Arum. In an instant, Via Arum could feel warm energy enter her body; she quickly refocused her attention and coordinated with Roy, guiding the warm energy to nourish her body.
More than one hour passed.
Roy stopped, his face slightly pale.
Although his Body Strengthening training had reached the middle stage, the spiritual qi that he could draw from the ring was a bit too weak. However, after having spent more than an hour of transferring spiritual energy to Via Arum, she was now able to circulate the energy on her own to recover her strength.
Roy watched Via Arum circulating internal energy to heal herself for a little while.
“I greet Sovereign, I have the honor to remain The Sovereign's most humble and obedient servant!” she got up and immediately knelt down on one knee in salute. After Roy had helped her to treat her injury, her demeanor became even more respectful towards him.

“You can stand.” Roy nodded, smiling wryly. Though he had been somewhat accustomed to this salutation thanks to his predecessor's memories, at the same time he felt weird receiving such a greeting.
Only then Via Arum did stand up respectfully.
“Via, when others are around, address me as young master.” Roy muttered in a low voice: “Also, stop lauding ‘Sovereign unbeatable throughout the world!’”
Every time Roy heard the sentence ‘Sovereign unbeatable throughout the world! as well as the weird salutation’ he felt depressed even though he knew it was a rule set by Heller, the previous Sovereign.
Via Arum paused for a moment, then said, “Sovereign, ‘Sovereign Unbeatable throughout the world’, this sentence during salute was set by the previous Sovereign if we stop…?”
Roy waved his hand and said: “I know that this rule was set by Master years ago, but rules are established by people. I’m the current Sovereign, and I say this rule is now abolished.”
Master? Via Arum had been curious about Roy’s relation with the Old Sovereign. Hearing Roy refers to the Old Sovereign as the Master she now knew. Right, who else but the old Sovereign’s pro-disciple can be the Sovereign of Abyss’s Gate?
Via Arum Immediately responded: “As Sovereign ordered!”
“How’s your recovery?” Roy asked.
“Replying Sovereign, your subordinate’s injury has recovered about seventy percent, in a few days my wounds should fully recover, but my veins…” Via Arum’s words stopped here.
“You needn’t worry about your veins. Now, tell me about the current situation in Abyss’s Gate.”
When Via Arum heard that, her expression became complicated.
“What is it?” Roy frowned.
Seeing Roy’s expression she knew that Roy had misunderstood, and quickly said: “Sovereign, it’s not that your subordinate is unwilling to report. Honestly, it’s just that subordinate is not very clear.”
“Not very clear?” Roy was startled.
“Yes.” Via Arum nodded, she then explained to Roy. Via Arum entered Abyss’s Gate twenty years ago, and she had never been to Abyss’s Gate headquarters. Thirty-five years ago she met an Elder from Abyss’s Gate and was taken in as a servant, and that was how she entered Abyss’s Gate. Her Master never talked to her about sect matters.
“But Master did mention that after the Old Sovereign had disappeared seventy years ago, there was an internal struggle for the Sovereign’s position, resulting in Abyss’s Gate splitting into two factions.” Via Arum said.
“Split into two factions!” Roy’s brows creased, asked: “Where is your Master now?”
“Five years ago we separated and, since then, I haven’t seen Master. Back then, Master said she had found some clue regarding the old Sovereign whereabouts in some lower worlds. Therefore, this servant decided to go to help her searching for the old Sovereign.” Replied Via Arum.

The Devil's own sins
Writer updates available for free on patreon. The following account, dear reader, is a recollection and retelling of the story of the first imp. The last devil born from the original primordial pit at the dawn of time, and the lowliest speck of that first generation. It recounts the tale of Thozronnath the pitiful and his steady rise from obscurity, perpetually stuck as a punching bag for his betters until the day hell itself spat him out. The information presented here is pieced together from eye-witness reports and second hand hearsay, sometimes from creatures with more than two hands. I can not tell you with any degree of accuracy how much of it is true as it begins long before our time and it's true ending lies far unto the future still. I can tell you one thing though, it was confusing as hell. Cover: Illustration for John Milton's Paradise Lost by Gustave Doré (1866), a thankfully public domain image. Currently on hiatus.
