《The Divine Mortal》Chapter 22: Entrance Examination Day

"Master, Marja would like to seek an audience."
Marja Moon's crisp voice propagated in.
Amidst the immortal mist, her long dress fluttered softly. Marja Moon looked no different from the image of an immortal girl the mortals had conjured.
When she completed her sentence, the lightning within the mist ahead quietened down. A path appeared within the mist and led directly to the Supreme Palace.
In a blink of an eye, she arrived at the Supreme Palace.
In the main hall.
On the surrounding walls, there was a total of 99 treasured swords shimmering in runic light.
They were immortal treasures used by martial cultivators. Many of which are Middle Earth-Grade, and only a few High Earth-Grade.
Thum, thum, thum
Those treasured swords seemed just like trapped beasts that were struggling, but they were still unable to escape.
"Since the day that old servant died, I have been observing him for a week." she said respectfully.
"As for the information regarding the new boy, that's all I have."
Marja Moon lowered her head in respect.
The Sect Leader, Ida Drough, was standing on the tall platform alone, and beyond him was a bottomless abyss. He was recalling the scene where he saw a certain young man and wasn't paying attention for a moment.
His face was cold; his thick, black eyebrows were like two inclined sharp swords, and his gaze was as calm as a pool of still water, without any waves of motion.
He dressed in black from head to toe. His long black hair reached his waist. Stiff and pale complexion with glassy eyes without a hint of light. Coupled with his aura that had no life in it, he resembled a true devil that would devour any beings down to their souls.
"Master, how should I deal with him? Should I snatch his strange encounter As the saying goes, ‘a man's wealth is his own ruin by arousing others' greed.’ You have taught me previously that the Immortal Dao is a path of pillage." she said with a sharp glint in her eyes.

Ida Drough turned around and his expression instantly turned stern. A majestic aura arose, intimidating Marja Moon to take three steps back.
He said, "Marja, the path of I, Ida Drough, is the strongest path in this Mega Mountain Range! You, who receives my inheritance, are basically getting the strongest inheritance."
"Why is there a need to cast your eyes on the strange encounter of a servant? If you follow my inheritance properly, I can confirm that you will be able to reach a higher realm and the height of your master!"
Marja Moon understood.
She lowered her head with respect. Amidst her beautiful eyes, the glow of thought was shimmering. The roar from her master was an enlightenment for her.
"From hereon, Marja will definitely be entirely focused in cultivating Master's immortal path of the sword!" she said with utmost seriousness.
"Good. My disciple must practice the same path as me and have the ambition to look beyond the entire world! Although the Immortal Dao is filled with perils, we have to be accountable to our conscience! With a clear conscience, the path ahead will be smooth," said the supreme Sect Leader.
"In my Supreme Sword Sect, one is free to have a strange encounter from past ancestors. If he can retain it and become a talent, that is also his luck. If he can't protect it and loses his life, that is also what he deserves. You are an outstanding disciple of mine. You have to think this through beforehand. If you are snatching someone's inheritance, you have to snatch the inheritance of a strong expert. That is the Immortal Dao!"
"Your disciple understands." she responded politely.
"You can take your leave." he said with a strange glow in his eyes, while showing a glazed look.

Towards the end, the supreme Sect Leader waved his hands. The surrounding longswords seemed to have experienced his might and had surprisingly stopped shaking.
And at this moment, Roy followed Bubu and arrived at the Holy Garden once again. The one week of resting time had already passed. Based on the rules, he still had to do his chores in the Holy Garden from today onwards.
It was a peaceful day. Roy was chatting casually with Bubu as the time quickly passed.
The day had finally come.
Although Bubu and other hesitated, upon seeing Roy extraordinary bearing, they did not comment further.
Immortal Jade Mountain!
The most lively place in the Mega Mountain Range on this day. Whether the internal servants' examination, or the externally invited genius examinations, it was all held there. If one passed, one was destined for the path of a heavenly immortal cultivator.
From a mortal to a martial cultivator.
It was Roy's first time making such a long trek through the Mega Mountain Range. Today was a huge festival for the brothers of the servants. Many had departed before the sun had even risen. The real examination would actually only take part at noon.
"You are really something aren't you?." Seeing Roy easily traverse the mountains and he did not seem the least bit fatigued, Bubu and the other were very surprised.
At that moment, they suddenly heard a strange noise behind them. Turning around to look, he saw hanging on a big tree not far away, a half meter sized creature whose body was violet in color and had light blue eyes.
“A monkey?” Roy was astonished.
Seeing Roy looking at it, the little monkey grinned and squeaked ‘Zhi zhi’, his hands gesturing towards Roy. Then it turned around and ran in the direction of the deeper parts of the mountains.

If nothing else, plagiarising - ahem, learning new spell structures by observing the local mages should prove entertaining. Sure, there were new dangers in this foreign world, but they wouldn't be anything a fancy bit of spellwork couldn't solve. Though, he would appreciate it greatly if someone could explain to him just what this 'cultivation' business was, why the local Mages were all muscle-brained freaks obsessed with immortality, and why they all seemed to lack any appreciation for the finer details of Essence manipulation. That would be nice.
