《The Divine Mortal》Chapter 20: New Legacy Title

His battle strength had risen substantially.
Till late at night, Roy was still practicing these martial arts and movement techniques!
Puff, puff, puff!
Cracks spread from the center of a huge tree under the impact of Roy's relentless exercise. After which, the cracks quickly multiplied and the huge tree fell down in the end.
Pa, pa!
"Darn it. I was too engrossed and had forgotten to pay attention to my surroundings." Roy's heart skipped a beat as he looked to the side immediately.
"Huh, somehow I feel there's someone watching.." he scrutinized his surroundings before eventually shrugging it off.
As it was quite late, Roy also felt quite exhausted, so he planned to end this training session and going back to get a rest.
What he did not know was that a white-robed female youth had already been following him for half a day. She had already been next to him ever since he had started his little training.
However, she was a heavenly immortal cultivator, the one and only Marja Moon. Her expression revealed a look of faint astonishment. How could Roy be able to sense that someone was watching him?
Leaving the valley, Roy did not take any detours, heading straight to his small house.
By the time he reached the wooden hut, it was already dawn. Just as he stepped into his small courtyard, he sighed looking at the dull orange color adorned the dark sky.
"Ugh, I guess I don't have time to rest now. " he recognized the appearance of indirect sunlight being scattered in the sky's atmosphere.
"Junior brot- Senior Brother Roy!"
In the early dawn, Bubu and a few fellow servants hurried over.
They were the only ones familiar with Roy and the late Uncle Wang. They used to chit-chat together when break time and had formed quite solid chemistry with each other in the past few days.

"What has happened?" Roy was about to enter his wooden hut. He was aiming to complete the mastery of his newly acquired skill by today, after taking a little nap.
"I heard that Kicu and a few others were killed outside the mountain range last night! This incident has drawn a lot of attention and discussion, and all the servants are spooked. Rumor has it that a demon from outside has snuck into the Mega Mountain Range to seek revenge against these righteous men!"
"Eh. Is that so?" Roy absentmindedly said.
Serves them right !
Roy naturally bore resentment towards those people for what they did on that day. After all, that Kicu guy was the one who accused him of poisoning one of the Sky Crane owned by that Joke person. If only he shut his foul mouth, any of this wouldn't have happened.
Roy couldn't help but reminisce about the little time he had with his late Uncle Wang.
Uncle was a good person. Why?
He sighed and shook his head lightly to the side.
"Oh. I get it now." one chubby servant said, pointing his index finger into the sky.
"The world is getting chaotic." he looked sternly at Roy before continuing, "It's so chaotic these days. It would be better if Senior Brother Roy don't head out to relieve boredom. There isn't much time left for rest. You should stay in your room and take a good break."
Roy was speechless, they kept calling him senior brother despite being the earlier ones into the job, not to mention their age was more than double his age. He had told them to call only by his name like when they first met, but they persisted on calling him senior brother.
They were truly treating him very well.

"I would still like to go out and take a walk."
"Don't worry, I'll just wander in the vicinity of the back mountain." naturally, Roy insisted.
In fact, there were several times when he wished to tell them about his current situation. However, after giving it some thought, he would still like to keep his business a secret for his own good.
After all, sometimes it's better to left things unsaid.
...
After Roy took a bath and change his worn out clothes into a new one, he prepared to go out to his 'training ground' again.
"Haa.." he stretched his body after a good little nap, "Today is the last day of my days off." he said drowsily.
Roy made his way through the dense forest, before finally arrived at the back mountain.
Within the forest, the morning sun had already risen up from the east.
Layers of mist and haze engulfed the Mega Mountain Range. Even if one stood at the highest point, he would probably still not be able to see the edge of it.
Writhed in immortal mist and under the illuminating rays of the scorching sun, beautiful colors of the rainbow could be seen.
Countless Immortal Cranes were flying in the air, and countless rare and precious beasts roamed within the forests.
Rays of light reflected off from the swords of the immortal cultivators intersecting in the air, forming images of flowers or a thousand beasts.
At the hottest spot under the scorching sun, Roy was only wearing a pair of pants while forging his 'golden' bones. Under the hot sun, the young man had his hair tied up into a bunch. Golden light leaked out from his exquisite facial features from time to time.
After the end of the first tier, Forging Muscles, his flesh had reborn. The new flesh and skin were fair and white. At the same time, one could vaguely see golden lights streaming within. After starting on his training once again, his aura had changed and he was already a handsome man that had a radiant glow.
Amidst his eyes, the natural and disdainful aura was especially eye-catching.
All the rays of the sun gathered into one column and was injected into the body through the symbols.
Forging Muscles! His body was made up of golden tendons that formed a network and nurtured the growth of golden flames in his bones.
After succeeding, his battle prowess had increased substantially once again.

Meek
After failing as an apprentice cooper and a town guard, Eli finds his place at the Rockbridge archives. Sure, he's the oldest 'junior scribe,' but he likes the job. And he's good at it, too. Then he completes an apparently-insignificant project, and the brutal reaction shocks him--with consequences that eventually shake the world. Eli gains powers. Rare and inhuman abilities. He progresses slowly, steadily, and not without setbacks. He changes, too. Is he a hero, a villain, a human, a monster? Depends who you ask. Meek is an epic fantasy with elements of progression. The basic magic is simple: five Paths, each with a different powerset. However, complexity arises from combinations, and the protagonist wields a magic all his own. Meek is set in the Valley, the only (as far as anyone knows) human empire that survived a Final Battle against a terrible foe. The Valley is warded against infiltration, but the enemy learned how to warp human souls, to foment discord within. However, another soul is also ... changed. Perhaps even 'warped.' And that soul is starting on a long (long, long) path that might, one day, prove that the Final Battle wasn't so final after all.

The Last Science [SE]
[SE has the same content as the original story, split into smaller chunks for easier reading. This story is on a temporary hiatus due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. I work in healthcare and unfortunately no longer have the freetime to continue posting on a regular basis. As soon as our workload decreases, I will return. Thanks for reading! 💙] No one ever knows the whole story. Deep in the forests of the Pacific Northwest, the fading town of Rallsburg stumbles upon an amazing discovery—magic itself. Faced with potentially world-shattering power, the people of Rallsburg keep the secret for themselves. Led by Rachel DuValle, a perpetually underestimated college student with grand ambitions, they seek to found a new society. The world beyond suspects nothing, but magic cannot stay hidden forever. A train arrives in Rallsburg carrying Alden Bensen, a directionless high school graduate. To him, magic could represent meaning for his life, an explanation for his empty existence. This potent force offers anyone the power to change humanity forever—or send it cascading into swift and total annihilation. The Last Science is an ongoing science-fiction / low-fantasy web novel series, focused on the modern world with a twist. New societies bud and grow, but the people who make them up are imperfect and flawed. The story includes elements of mystery, action, crime, interpersonal drama, relationships, philosophy, sociology, politics, and much more, all centered on the perspective characters driving the tale. This is the "Scraps Edition" of the story, where the chapters have been split up into bite-size chunks (roughly 1500-3000 words), for your convenience. The prose has been edited from its original form, with some improvements, but there are no content differences from the original. New chapters will be posted throughout each week starting on Friday and appearing on multiple days thereafter, depending on the length of the chapter. Content Warning (by request): This series delves into some topics and situations which may be upsetting for some readers. In American rating parlance, the narrative would be rated PG-13 (except for language), but some have noted the story can get pretty dark on occasion. Please use your best judgment, and don't be afraid to take breaks and come back later. I'll still be here! [Discord] - come hang out and chat! Encroaching Darkness
Ashford Meyers used to be a general practitioner, living out his days in peace while he expanded on his hobbies. This all came crashing down when the world changed. Creatures from myths came out of the ether to wreak havoc on the world. He uses his smarts and additional powers from the system to create a place for the remnants of humanity to flock to. He starts training those who want to protect the weak in this new world until everything changes with the arrival of the outworlders. So, this fiction is something that I have been working on for a few weeks, and as such, I have about 75 pages already pending. On another note, chapters will be released every week on Monday and Friday, 8:00 am EST.

The Polyglot's Rune
Fear. Regret. Memories. They all flashed before my eyes as my life began to fade away. I felt a darkness encroach upon my heart followed by a sinister foreboding. Within that moment I was asked a single question by a powerful, mystical being. “Brave being, do you wish to accomplish a great deed in your life?” “No,” I refused, but the voice did not listen. It summoned me to its world only to try to have me slaughtered. But then, I was saved by him, the princess who disguised herself as a man. He was hellbent on revenge, and he was determined to drag me down with him. This story is meant to be a bit of a mix of genres and cultures, so there are some elements that may seem xianxia like, but it's not exactly the same so I didn't tag it. It also has multiple lead characters but is written in first person. Schedule: Dropped Normal Chapter Length: approximately 3000 words Warning: Tagged [15+] for Strong Language and Violence (Gore and Profanity aren't very prevalent, but I added the warning tags just in case).
