Attention focuser
Mortal tier recipe. No cultivation requirements
Whether taken orally or by injection, this cheap to manufacture drug is perfect for taking on that extra night shift or finishing that paper due for tomorrow. One of the greatest issues plaguing any civilisation is sleep, namely that it takes up time you could be awake and working. However, thus far we have only looked at the harsher and less used varieties of waking drugs. So the natural objective is a far gentler effect product.
This stuff does exactly that, which is why it’s a huge business, although the crash afterwards is just as horrible. The current industry leading patent alone is valued around the 10^40 range (in universal Qi crystals). To avoid copyright issues I used an older unprotected recipe.
Ingredients and recipe Oskat beetle powder, 5 grams – non magical powder Aqueous diffuser, 1 unit – natural gathering stage crystal Clean blood, 20 ml – non magical fluid Rootcell, 5 grams – non magical plant Low-tier enchanted water, 50 ml – natural gathering stage fluid (Optional)
Oskat beetle powder is one of the few non magical items with sleep-staving properties, naturally it is put to massive use in mortal tier recipes. Unfortunate that its extreme effects mean that raw use is almost impossible. Even these products do nothing to reduce the resultant crash after use, but at least you’ll be perfectly fine whilst it’s active.
Calling Aqueous diffusers a crystal is a bit of a copout. Technically, on an atomic level it does form a crystal lattice, but on a macro scale it feels like a marshmallow. When added to any aqueous solution it will forcibly diffuse the solution through any non-watertight walls. This means a product made with this will not escape a vial, but can easily pass through cell walls which normally stop diffusion of such large particles. No, it does not physically affect the cells.

A unit of this crystal is approx. 5 micrograms.
Clean blood is any blood that anyone can use. This blank slate of hemomancy is widely used through the medical industry, quite literally saving lives on a daily basis. It does not conflict with blood types, nor is it affected by a species barrier.
Production is all done in labs to ensure purity. Don’t bother making it yourself unless your precision is at the atomic level.
Rootcell is a plant which forms an intricate locking mechanism at a microscopic level. By coating the Oskat beetle powder in rootcell powder we can reduce the rate at which a body absorbs the former, thus reducing the side effects by spreading it over a longer period of time.
Begin by doing exactly this. Grind up dried rootcell and add it to the beetle powder. Mix properly and add the clean blood. Mix once again and leave to absorb this fluid.
The dry rootcell cannot make use of its microscopic cages, but any hydration is capable of bringing it back into full force. Clean blood is simply used to kill two birds with one stone. As any being can receive an influx of clean blood it makes perfect sense for an injectable drug to be made of it, this works in tandem with needing a fluid to rehydrate a rootcell.
Do not worry about a sediment forming, and instead give half an hour for proper rehydration and locking. It may take up to an hour depending on the room’s temperature. It goes without saying for all recipes thus far, but I have assumed a standard set of living conditions. If you are someone who lives in an extreme environment then I’m surprised you made it this far. Mortal tier recipes are pretty much impossible in your location.

Testing for fully hydrated and locked rootcell is easy. Take an inert stone spoon and pull some out. Drain the blood and observe the rootcell directly, which should be dyed a deep red. You will know the process is over if all this rootcell powder clumps together like wet sand. The cages will be intertwined to a small degree, and this aqueous diffuser stops that.
Add the fleck of crystal and seal whatever is holding your mixture as tightly as possible. A vacuum-sealed container is ideal, but even just a glass test tube with an adequate stopper fulfils this requirement. From this moment on just opening the container will weaken the product, as such you should be quick and decisive.
Over the next few minutes one can watch the sediment slowly disappear as it equally diffuses over your clean blood. This is now a finished product.
One final optional step is transforming it into a potion and it is simply a matter of mixing in some enchanted water. The taste is not ideal though, but if you’re scared of needles I can see the problem.
Usage
Keeps you awake for 12 hours, afterwards you’ll endure a strong crash lasting 6 hours. It is highly recommended you just go to sleep during the crash, even if you don’t the mental exhaustion will push you to faint eventually.
Injecting the liquid is as simple as filling a syringe, making sure there is no air inside the needle, and plunging it into a vein. I cannot stress this enough, but you cannot repeatedly take this product and you definitely should not overuse veins.
Drinking it is even simpler. You drink it, what were you expecting?
The moment this colloid enters your body it will forcibly pass through most membranes. Your entire body will be coated indiscriminately, but with the rootcell it causes no immediate damage. The magical nature of aqueous diffusers means that it will not damage cells whilst pulling this powder through the membranes.
Enjoy your 12 hours, hope you get all your work done in that time though…

Shades of the Moon
I'm rewriting this story! I have taken down Arc 2 and Arc 3 already to avoid spoiling my new novel. The only reason I'm keeping the first 10 chapters is nostalgia; the writing is awkward and the story is not plotted out properly, but it's here if anyone wants to compare it to the new one. If you'd like to read a more professionally written version of this story, I highly suggest checking out my Synergy. Synopsis version too-many-to-count: “I see,” Kiona said. “But . . . you’re changing once again, aren’t you?” The entity considered her question, lifting a clawed hand towards the night sky. They observed the back of their hand idly, watching the glowing orange veins pulse alongside their pitch-black exoskeleton. The wind picked up right then, and Kiona shivered—just as much from the cold as from the savage grin on the creature's face. “That’s right,” the entity said, clenching their hand slowly into a fist. They let out a quiet laugh, staring defiantly at the Moon as it rose from behind the clouds. “We are shades, yet not exactly. Not like the others. Here, in this world, we've become something more. We are the Shades of the Moon.” There was a heartbeat of silence, during which Kiona joined the entity in their skygazing. The light-green Moon loomed over the city, shining like the entity's eyes. It promised otherworldly knowledge and terrible secrets. It promised progress. It promised change. In that moment, Kiona couldn't have imagined anything more beautiful. “Shades of the Moon, huh?” she said, smiling a bit. It had a nice ring to it.

For now i will publish small chapters for i am not very confident in this, but as i write more and gain some experience i will release longer and better ones. Also English isn't my mother language so any advice or correction is welcomed.
