Stain creating cream
Mortal tier recipe. No cultivation requirements
No-one believed me when I bragged about my adventures because I always looked pristine. I learned the value of the dirt then. The end result of my experiments was beyond my wildest dreams, yet no-one believed I was the one who invented it. Maybe it wasn't how I looked that made them dismiss my words - Ever-Summoned Demonic God Oskatat during their adventuring years
Ingredients and recipe Mindnode worm antenna, 2 pieces – natural gathering stage animal part Illusive dyeshroom, 1 mushroom – natural gathering stage mushroom Moulding slime, 50 ml – non magical animal part Any natural glue, 25 ml – non magical fluid Skin cream of your choice, 500 ml – non magical fluid
Do not use cream made of milk for this. That is a foodstuff and certainly not intended for skin maintenance. Aside from that, try not to pick anything expensive for this recipe. It would be a massive waste to spend lots of money on a nice cream only to ruin it for this recipe.
Mindnode worms can be hunted down in bug colonies, as they create a web of control throughout the hive. Naturally, this web analogy applies to spider colonies as well. Just buy the antennae to make your life easier. Although you will be crushing the thin antennae down, it is best to leave them intact until necessary.
Illusive dyeshroom have three discernible parts, of which we only need one. Cut off the stalk, preferably with gloved hands, and wash out all the spores with cold water. Take effort to not breath in any of these highly hallucinogenic spores. They incite a powerful euphoria onto anyone who breathes them in, leaving you in a state of extreme pleasure for hours.
Dyeshrooms themselves have no fixed spawning ground. Although, numerous data points show they somehow favour land with a myriad of colours nearby. Considering the mushroom lacks even a rudimentary consciousness, how do they understand the concept of colour? At my stage I know the answer, but it’s a fun thing to pose as a question for newer alchemists.

Regardless, we now come across an interesting gelatinous substance. This slime is the residue of any elemental slime, a creature heavily popularised in various media for being weak. Well, life is sometimes smaller than fiction, and these slimes are pathetic. A child could kill one by accident by simply walking on its instinct-driven body. The parts left over after its death, which is its coagulated leftover mass, is called moulding slime. We don’t care for the element here, so pick whichever you like.
Some people actually like keeping slimes as pets. I tried it once, but don’t really see the appeal. To each their own… I suppose.
Natural glue means that you will have to process some animal fat to obtain it, of course buying the glue is also an option. As long as it’s made from a living being, then you won’t find any problem here.
First we need to fix the texture of the slime, which means breaking down its gelatinous structure. To do this, place it in a pot and apply heat. It’s best to do this slowly as we have no need to boil the slime. You will know the process is done when you can use a spoon to remove just a spoonful of liquid slime.
While it is breaking down you dice the dyeshroom cap into small pieces. There is no strict sizing here, but try to keep it tiny. Smaller is better.
Drop this into the heated slime and leave it alone. Under no circumstance should you stir it. If the slime starts boiling then lower the flame instead, such that you do everything possible to not touch the liquid slime. You will know this step is going well if the slime is rapidly changing colours and the dyeshroom is slowly dissolving.
The dissolving process requires 15 minutes at minimum, while all my tests have taken 20 minutes at the least. Other reputable alchemists I know do claim to have done this in 15 minutes though, so maybe I did something wrong?

The recipe is correct at least, I guarantee that.
You start chopping the worm antennae into eighths as the dissolving process comes to a close. Then crushing the thin stalks to a mush, leaving white cloudy liquid alongside the flesh. Add it to the colour-changing slime once you are absolutely sure all the dyeshrooms are dissolved. You may stir gently now, if the rate at which colours change increases then immediately stop stirring.
This final process will mix that cloudy fluid with the unstructured slime, as well as pulling out any remaining liquid in the crushed antennae. This flesh will not dissolve though, so you pour out the fluid into a clean bowl after 10 minutes. This is ample time for it to remove all the antenna fluid.
The final step is hilariously easy in comparison. Add the glue to the alchemical mixture, and stir. Once the mixture thickens considerably you can add it to your base cream product. You will have to stir quite a lot here to ensure that the magical parts mix in properly, not soon after you will have a tub of stain creating cream,
Now, now, it does a lot more than just make a mess. The only things bounding it are your imaginations and any material above spirit forming stage.
Usage
Ideal for creating blood-stained clothes without having to cut someone - Ever-Summoned Demonic God Oskatat
The name is quite true in the end. This cream can be used to mimic the texture and colour of any texture of anything at spirit forming or below. The magical components simply lack the energy to go further beyond, whilst mimicking things like scent and taste require a far higher complexity. At that stage it is no longer a mortal tier product.
Illusive dyeshrooms to give it a variety of colour, and slime to give it a range of texture, all it’s missing is the activator. The mindnode worm antennae include a useful property that allows your thoughts to activate these effects. Simply imagine what you require the stain creating cream to look like and it’ll transform into the substance. If this fails then you’ve either not imagined hard enough or made a defective good.
It’s not like this thing can only make stains in the end. The only colour limit of dyeshrooms is metals. So, would a wooden trap door with the seam coated in this stuff not be near impossible to find for mortals?

Cycles of Ruin
Civilizations rise and fall. Kith build them up and monsters, led by powerful dungeon keepers, bring them to ruin. For three thousand years the cycle has been maintained by the Guild of Chaos and its endless hordes of minions who—in absence of their long lost creators—have taken it upon themselves to keep the realms of the universe in balance. The Guild has grown efficient at this task, but some among its ranks have begun to ponder the utility of a universe that has been robbed of the very possibility of change. Basil von Doom is one such dungeon keeper working for the Guild, leading an army of loyal minions from one conquest to the next; burning civilizations and sifting through the ruins in search of forbidden knowledge that the races of kith were never meant to possess. But having spent more than half a century in pursuit of glory and fame—trying to live up to the legacy of his father—Basil has grown indifferent towards his work. Desperate for a worthy challenge, but bound by his duties as a dungeon keeper, he has turned his mind towards uncovering the ultimate fate of the previous master of his house and the secrets that were buried with him. Now the young Master of House Doom must balance his growing interest in pursuing the trail of his father with the responsibilities that come with running a dungeon in service to the Guild of Chaos. To remain in good standing with the Guild, Basil has even accepted the task of mentoring an apprentice dungeon keeper, a young succubus named Elnora. It is at the tail end of her apprenticeship that the story begins; with a civilization poised to fall—its greatest heroes gathering for one last assault on the heart of darkness—and Basil striking up a conversation with his apprentice that will set into motion the unraveling of the universe. ***This is a rewrite and continuation of my story that was first posted on RoyalRoad a few years ago.
