《World of Telduria》Prologue

The world is ever-changing. The world never stops for a single person. No matter how powerful someone gets; there is always someone more powerful. The powerful laud over those without power. While some try to hide this fact, it is just that, an undisputed fact of the world. And the most powerful in the world, is the world itself. Or so it seems at least. Whenever a country grows too powerful, something always seems to happen. The Ool incident, the Protectorate breakaway, the extinction of the dragons. Something disrupts and changes the balance of power so that it returns to equality. This strange balance seems to be kept out of nowhere, it's absolute, or at least it's been so far.

In a cozy little house a young woman was sitting in front of the computer. She was working on her latest design for an airsoft defense system. It had been her pet project since school, to create a fully functioning IFF auto-turret for their airsoft games. She started designing her first prototype as her graduation project from her robotic engineering class. Her teacher had said that if she actually was able to make it fully functioning then there would be big money to be had. Both military and civilian contractors would be interested in such a system as long as it was foolproof.

The first design was a simple tube with a hop-up gearbox launcher fixed on a frame which could turn back and forth due to servo motors attached to gears and chains. The turret used a simple PLC program which said that IF target has radio transmitter AND within range, which was measured by a laser, move servos towards signal and open fire. Fire in bursts of a few seconds while having an ammo counter on the side. When it reached a certain number it would shut down for that round. It could also be shut down by shooting one of the many pressure sensors on the frame itself. Then a simple reset button would reset and ready it for the next round. As time passed the designs got more and more advanced, bringing her to the current prototype that was next to the woman.

She ran a hand through her blonde hair and groaned before closing the voice reader. "Why would you ever give the adventurers tips? I get that it's not supposed to be too hard; but why would you ever give them the whole solution to your puzzle? Bloody ell. Too many stories just give too much away. Not like that dungeon in a book about an Inn with an innkeeper with a disposition towards frying pans. Now that's a proper dungeon. No mercy, yet adventurers still dive for treasure. Greed in a nutshell. Especially the ones who reincarnate into a dungeon. Like, why does no one think of anything useful part from a few stories in which they exploit the system or uses the resources to it's fullest?"

Kim sighed and stretched her body before getting up from her seat. She turned her face and looked to her left at the poster on the wall. It was a printout of her favorite character that she had ever written. A woman with wings, and horns. Once an angel, but now nothing more than a fallen one. Kim smiled wryly before leaning down to the keyboard and pressed enter, sending in her work assignment. Another day of looking over the blueprints she had been sent by the company she worked for. It wasn't the most interesting task. Turn a 2D blueprint into a 3D model then send it along to the next person in the chain.

She wished her life was a bit more interesting than what it currently was. Day in and day out of simple jobs while tending to the house. It was nice in a way though. Having a simple job that pays relatively well while working from home. She was planning on doing this for a while longer during her studies. Just another year of engineering classes, and she'd finally be done with it all. No more school, no more homework or lectures. Finally, she would be able to go on her little trip for a couple of months across the world.

Suddenly a bright light enveloped her form while she was making her way over to the kitchen. "Please standby for summoning and character adaptation." The light got brighter and brighter until she could see nothing else. "Adapting from wishes and drives, granting appropriate power." Just as quickly as the light appeared it was gone, along with the woman.

When the light cleared from her eyes, and she looked around her new environment she could see the shocked faces of the people gathered. Kim guessed she was not what they were expecting. An above average looking young woman in her underwear, standing in what looked like a throne room. She raised a hand up to wave at them and was met with a wall of swords. "The summoning failed. Kill the daemon!"

Daemon!? What the heck? They're all humans as well. She turned her body slightly and it felt heavier and a bit weird. A whooshing sound came from behind her as she looked around the room. 'Shit!' She could see an arrow coming towards her from the corner of her eye. 'The heck!?' Her body moved by itself as something white threw itself in the path of the arrow. Ping! A wing of beautiful, white arrows with some gray and brown mixed into the feathers. Like the wings of a bald eagle.

She could feel a power welling up inside of her which she directed towards a nearby wall. An invisible blast blew out the wall and Kim quickly jumped out from the building. Her wings unfurled like if it was instinctual, and she quickly took flight away from these people. Both arrows and spells flew her way, but she managed to avoid them all through some miracle and that strange power she felt within her mind.

"Shit, damn. This is not how I expected things to go at all! Who bloody thought that adaptation would turn me into her? While I really like her, bloody ell, things are going to be difficult. She reached up towards the top of her head. She could feel two protrusions sticking out from the sides of her head. "Yep, the horns are there." She sighed deeply. "I wonder how much I am like her. The looks seem to be there. But will I change? My personality? What about her abilities?"

Kim flew towards some mountains that were in the distance. She wasn't sure how long she had been flying when she finally touched down and walked into a crack in the earth. Hopefully this would provide a good enough hiding spot until she could figure out just how much she had been changed. She felt like she was about to cry when her foot knocked against a black piece of something small. Kim looked down and saw that it looked like a shard of some kind. She reached down and grabbed it and inspected the item. It was glass like. "Obsidian?" she asked into the air.

Secondary abilities initiating due to suitable material found. Initiating dungeon core construction.

The obsidian shard flew out of her hand and into the right side of her head near one of her horns. "Oh come on!" was the last words she uttered before her screams of pain echoed throughout the crevice, making her black out from the sheer amount of pain she was experiencing.
