《Dragon Ball X》Chapter 5: Universe Survival Saga Part 1

Shadow is training with Goku on King Kai's planet due to Goku’s Ki disorder passing, King Kai suggests that the two go to train on Beerus' planet, but Goku declines saying that “Whis is away and he can't teleport there.”
While eating, Shadow, Goku and King Kai suddenly sense Trunks and Vegeta's energy and realize that the two are fighting. Goku teleports himself along with Shadow to Potaufeu just before Copy-Vegeta finishes off Trunks and Monaka. The two saiyans are unaware of the current situation and believe that Copy-Vegeta to be the real Vegeta until he, while transparent and close to disappearing due to Commeson's effects, tells Goku to defeat the fake Vegeta, while wondering if they can. Goku, though confused, agrees and engages in battle with Copy-Vegeta, who is as strong as the real thing.
Shadow witnesses an impatient Vegeta begin to give Goku and Copy-Vegeta both tips, with them wondering whose side Vegeta is on. Goku transforms into a Super Saiyan Blue and to everyone's surprise so does Copy-Vegeta, and they continue their battle. As they both land a powerful blow, a bright light is created, and the core of Commeson attacks Trunks, as Vegeta steps in-between them. Monaka casually steps on the core, which crushes it, causing Fake Vegeta immense pain. Goku then fires a God Kamehameha, destroying Copy-Vegeta and saving Vegeta just in time.
Monaka’s luck is outright ludicrous. Shadow thinks to himself as Goku descends to meet with the rest of the group.
As Potage is resealing the core of Commeson, Goku praises Monaka for defeating the core, exclaiming how powerful he is. The group then say goodbye to Potage as they return to Earth. Shadow discusses Vegeta sucking on the key to the seal, which resembled a baby pacifier, and Vegeta is embarrassed as he realizes this. Shadow, Goku, and Vegeta then exclaim to each other that they “Will not lose.”

Peace having returned, Goku has begun farming again, and takes his latest harvest to a trader. While driving away from the farmer's market in a Capsule Corp. truck, Goku spots a man whose truck is stuck in the road. Goku agrees to help, but finds himself held at gunpoint by the man and his two companions who demand the truck. Goku refuses and renders all the robbers unconscious, except for one. The last robber fires a bullet at Goku, which scratches him. After knocking out the last robber, Goku looks at his injury and comes to the conclusion that he is getting rusty without a proper challenge. Goku then brings the criminals to the police station, where the sheriff pays him a large reward.
Goku goes to call Krillin to ask if he wishes to train, but he is busy with police work. Upon hearing this, Goku then calls Whis instead and he agrees to give him bean daifuku in exchange for more training. Heading home to put on his Gi, a toddler Goten asks if he can come along, but Chi-Chi forbids this, though Goku proceeds to sneak out while she is distracted, getting caught up in the lecture she gives. After picking up the bean daifuku, he heads to Capsule Corp.
After finding Vegeta, Goku asks him to come along to train with him but he rejects since he’s busy with ruling Planet Vegeta. Once Whis arrives, he takes Goku to Beerus' planet to train. Looking to fight stronger opponents once more, Goku asks Beerus about the tournament that Zeno was planning, but is scolded by Beerus and told not to get involved. Beerus threatens to destroy Goku, viewing his naive nature as a threat to the universe, but Goku tricks him and presses the button, bringing himself to Zeno's Palace. When Goku enters Zeno’s Palace, he sees Zeno playing a game with some other Zeno. While puzzled by this, he asks Zeno about the tournament and the other Zeno becomes excited by the idea of it, so the Grand Priest tells Goku that he will inform him of the details when they become available. Goku returns to Beerus' planet and tells Beerus what happened and asks Whis to take him to the Sacred World of the Kai.

On the Sacred world of the Kais, Shadow is currently training under Shin and Elder Kai’s tutelage when Goku appears with Beerus and Whis and explains what has just transpired. Then the Grand Minister arrives and fills everyone in on the details of the Tournament of Power. Shadow and the others are shocked to learn that every losing universe will be erased from existence. The Grand Minister then informs Goku that there will be an exhibition match held before the tournament so Other Zeno can spectate a fight for the first time. Goku is instructed to find two other fighters within the next hour to join him in battling alongside three fighters from Universe 9 in the exhibition match.
This was bound to happen sooner or later. Shadow thinks to himself while sighing. “Consider me one of the two fighters, who do you want as the third?”
As the two Saiyans return to Earth, they ask Vegeta first, but he refuses. They then decide to recruit Gohan. Gohan hesitates at first, so Goku tells him about the stakes at play. Goku and Gohan agree to keep the universe erasure clause to themselves to prevent a potential panic. Goku and Gohan then turn to Shadow and plead profusely for him to agree as well.
THIS. IS. A. COLOSSAL. MISTAKE. Shadow thinks to himself as he concedes to their agreement. “BUT, I’ll have to tell #17 and #18 the truth when I go to recruit them for the main tournament.”
Having the two fighters needed, Goku teleports everyone to the Sacred World of the Kais. Shin takes everyone to Zeno's Palace, where they encounter their Universe 9 opponents for the first time. The Gods and Angels of the other ten universes arrive shortly after. The Grand Minister introduces Goku as the man responsible for the Tournament of Power and explains the rules for the Zeno Expo.
The first match is Shadow fighting Basil. As the Match begins with Basil immediately assaulting Shadow with a variety of attacks. Unharmed, Shadow shrugs and then proceeds to grin and laugh. “What? Is that the best you’ve got?!” Shadow shouts mockingly at Basil.
Angered by this taunt Basi throws several more attacks at Shadow, knocking him down while managing to actually injure him. Assuming Basil has won, Roh begins to gloat to the annoyance of Sidra. When Shadow jumps back up and heals himself, Roh, Universe 9’s Supreme Kai throws something into Basil’s mouth. A moment later, as Basil begins to grow more muscular with a sinister aura beginning to flow off him, Shadow can hear the gods from both Universe 7 and 9 argue.
“You can’t use that, isn’t that cheating! The 9th Universe are cheaters!” Beerus shouts while waving his fist in anger.
“I’m surprised to see you so angry.” Roh retorts. “I don’t recall you raising a stink when your warrior cheated to recover from the injuries he received from Basil!”
“He didn’t need to use some mineral to do that, it’s his own special power!” Beerus snaps back. “You’re all cheaters, you forfeit the match!” The Grand Priest then proceeds to immediately quell the god’s squabbling.
“In the Zeno Exposition Match rules are that two warriors fight until one is unable to.” Says the Grand Priest.
The match resumes with Basil launching a barrage of Howling Blasters at Shadow, but all are quickly deflected. As the balls of energy are sent flying in all directions, one is sent flying straight towards the platform that has the inhabitants of Universe 11. The one known as Top easily catches the ball and just as easily dissipates it. Shadow powers up and launches himself at Basil, both are throwing both punches and kicks at each other when Basil gets the upper hand and begins to mercilessly beat Shadow. Basil then jumps into the air and fires another volley of Howling Blasters at Shadow; the attacks all make direct hits, causing a smokescreen.

The dust clears to reveal Shadow picking himself up while he heals his wounds, Shadow then confidently looks towards Basil and says, “You’re good, but I’m just better.” Shadow powers up again and fires a Galick Beam Cannon, engulfing Basil in a stream of energy emitting a black light. Basil survives, but is unconscious, making Shadow the winner.
After witnessing Shadow's victory, Gohan goes next and squares off with his foe, Lavender and considers taking it slow so he can regain his fighting senses. Gohan and Lavender engage each other in rapid fire punches and kicks with Gohan driving him back. Gohan goes for an early knock out, but Lavender attaches himself to Gohan's arm and sprays him in the face with poison blinding him, allowing Lavender to batter Gohan around. Shadow worries about the poison but Goku says it could be bad but this is perfect training for Gohan as he has been blinded and can't sense his opponent and tells Shadow that Gohan is at his absolute best when he is backed into a corner like this and this is perfect for bringing back his fighting senses. Roh begins bragging that Gohan will die if he doesn't give up as his body will rot away.
Shin takes out senzu beans and is about to throw Gohan a senzu bean but yells at him to stop and says he refuses it and wants to win under his own strength to Goku's approval. Gohan then begins to concentrate and tones out Lavender's voice and using his ears is able to pinpoint his attacks and is able to block them, much to Lavender's shock calling it a fluke and tries again and Gohan blocks all of them and retaliates. Lavender falls back and bombards Gohan with ki blasts only to have Gohan block and deflect all of them. Lavender flies up and attacks from afar knowing how Gohan is sensing him. Shin is worried, but Goku tells him to relax and while admits this may be bad, he reminds them that the deeper the hole Gohan is in, the better for him right now as Gohan is remembering how to fight. Having been bombarded with numerous shots Gohan accesses his full potential and transforms into SS1 shocking everyone. The Zeno's are amazed at the form and call it very pretty and strong. While the God's present discuss the form, Top from Universe 11 says that the individuals from Universe 7 must be able to hide their true powers.
Lavender isn't impressed at the form and attacks again only for Gohan to deflect the blast and the numerous ones that follow, then Gohan suddenly charges him and attacks. Lavender assumes that Gohan is able to see again and begins to protest, but Gohan tells him he is still blind but his energy is telling him where he is. Shadow and Goku are impressed by Gohan. Gohan attacks and overwhelms Lavender and throws him to the ground hard, with Lavender barely able to stand. Gohan flies in for the final blow but the poison accelerates to Gohan's heart nearly killing him and powers him back down to normal. Lavender begins to batter a dying Gohan around more, Gohan not done yet stands back up and powers up once again to SS1, ignoring the risk to his life much to Shin's protests and attacks once again.
After another exchange Gohan fires a Kamehameha at Lavender's attack and begins to overpower him, but the poison reaches Gohan's arms and Gohan is overwhelmed by Lavender's attack and Lavender tries to kill Gohan with another blast of his poison breath. Gohan having had enough of Lavender's games flies straight through the poison to everyone's shock however Gohan emerges unharmed and grabs Lavender in a full nelson. Gohan flies straight up high into the void and turns upside down and flies back down to the arena floor as fast as he can. Lavender attempts to escape, but Gohan being far physically stronger is able to restrain Lavender and piledrive him clean through the arena floor knocking Lavender out cold. A near dead Gohan rises to his feet declaring himself the winner and then proceeds to pass out.
The Grand Priest moves in to inspect the damage and says that, “Since both fighters are unconscious the fight is a draw.” much to everyone's disappointment. With the fight over, Goku goes to the floor and gives Gohan a Senzu Bean and tells Gohan the news.
Goku tells Gohan that “You’re amazingly strong and I’m proud of You.” And says that I’m genuinely excited from watching you fight and can't wait for my own match now. Gohan, seeing how excited his dad is, cheers him up and stands up saying he still wants to become stronger. Goku's fight is up next and before leaving the ring the Grand Priest repairs it. As Goku gets ready, Gohan wishes his father luck and Goku and Gohan fist bump.
Goku is paired against Bergamo, who declares Goku as the enemy. Bergamo convinces the two Zenos to rescind the rule stating all losing universes are destroyed if he defeats Goku, to which the Zenos agree.
Bergamo allows Goku to hit him, which increases his size and strength. He goes SS1 and continues to hit Bergamo, making him bigger and stronger. Becoming a SSB, Goku fires a 10x God Kamehameha which overpowers Bergamo's Wolfgang Penetrator and defeats him. Goku is then challenged by Top of Universe 11. Goku starts the fight off in SS1 and Top is able to gain an advantage over him until Goku turns SSB. The two fight a destructive battle and Goku does damage with an Instant Kamehameha. They prepare to fight at full power before the Grand Minister ends it. Before they part ways, Top reveals that there is a being in Universe 11 even stronger than him. Shortly afterwards Goku and Shadow both return to Earth where they begin to put a team together.

Ravyn's Nights - Book 2
Claire's life led her to love. Love led her to death. Death began her eternal struggle to retain both her love and her humanity through 5 centuries of endless nights. Book 2 covers the 18th century. "Ravyn's Nights" is a six book series, with each book covering a different century. Book 6 was actually started first, and it takes place in the near future, bringing the story to a final conclusion. I then started writing the rest of the series when I decided that I wanted to share the details of the life that made her into who she is in Book 6. At the time of posting the first chapter of the series, books 1-2-3 are completed and books four, five and six are in various states of completion. There is currently a novella following a side character that does include a few crossover chapters featuring the main character. The novella will be included in the completed versions of books 4 and 5.
8 197The Vagabond
A dark evil threatens the world that Kass recently found herself in, but she is no hero, just a girl that is trying to survive another hour. Join Kass on her journey through hostile lands and dark dungeons where she will come across all sorts of trouble as well as the occasional loot. If she's lucky, maybe even epic or legendary! It doesn't take long for Kass to realize her spot on the food chain with hungry monsters at every turn, but through thick and thin she begins to learn just what it takes to survive in this new world. She is but a lone wanderer. A Vagabond. This story is written as a LitRpg. It contains class systems, skill trees, and of course, lots of loot. (Don't be alarmed to not see any class systems in the first few chapters, they'll be there soon enough)
8 75The Complete Alchemyst book 2
Continuation of the Alchemyst book 1 Sometimes to be the good guy, you gotta be the bad guy. This is a story about Louis, a guy that was just trying to get along before he got kidnapped and forced to play cook by a Cartel. He's no Heisenberg, however. Now that he's out of Prison and put a beat down on some of the folks that put him away, he's facing the real pressures of Life as a single-person superpower: Everyone wants to use him for their own purposes. Along the way he's met a few girls, some good, some bad. He's looking to save the world, establish an evil empire, secure a future for the people he considers his, and maybe finally kill that damned superhero that started it all. This is not 'the boys'. Not all superheroes or supervillains are evil, The 'super' world is expanding to include aliens, magic, and the children of ancient deities and legends. This is NOT a superhero genre deconstruction. Many heroes truly are heroes, and they don't all need to be destroyed to make a good story, but it does look into the dark side of superpowers and the unreasonable and often contradictory demands placed on exceptional people. Please note that this book has extremely graphic and sometimes gross fight scenes, heroes as villains, villains as heroes, opinionated and often politically incorrect characters, some graphic sex scenes, dad jokes, dirty jokes, realistic depictions of romance and flirting, bondage and dominance themes, and more than a few cuss words when they are really appropriate.
