Chapter 7

Soul and Chance

Just a few hours ago Dr. Otto succeeded in one of his separate experiment and right now I'm in a glass tube filled with water, wearing an oxygen mask and lots of wires that are constantly detecting changes in my body. The DNA modification Experiment, It was successful which meant If a person is given an ability through various experiments, then from the result of my experiment, Dr. Otto will be able to modify that person's DNA with that ability in them and after that person mates with a female, a child bearing the ability without any experiment will be borne. Meaning I just helped them in giving a weapon, powerful enough to tip the whole power balance in their family system within few decades. They are now able to produce super soldiers with different unique abilities. As It was originated from me, it also means I have the same effect and much more.

Thanks to that octopus I can now finally sort out my plan. My body composition has changed so much because of the constant exposure to radiation, chemicals and Modification that I can be called a different species all together. My hair has also become silver and one of my eye is scarlet while the other one is abyss black. My brain capacity has also leaped directly From forty to sixty percent. And all those ability they were experimenting including the AI has been directly merged into my DNA or 'soul'. After my brain capacity increased my view of the world completely changed. I could sense all sorts of energy but I had no knowledge about them whatsoever. But after a while I found that These abilities have been directly infused in my soul. Soul can simply be said as the spiritual being of a person which consists of all the memories and qualities of that person. For me who can use cloning to make a duplicate this can be considered as good luck. Because before, I could successfully make copies of myself but they would always be hollow, without any memory, abilities or life. They would just die after few minutes. Every calculation was correct but the clone never came to life. It would die after few moments without fail, without even uttering a single word.

However after my brain capacity increased and I stared to sense the energy flow I found something peculiar. Every living creature had something like mass of golden energy coursing through out their whole body, But as I thought my clones didn't have that. After trying lots and lots of theories I came across the soul theory. If that golden energy is a soul than it would explain why my clones didn't came to life because if you consider the body as a car then the driver is the soul, wherever the soul wants to go the body will take it as the soul is a mass of pure energy which can't be sustained outside a body and a single soul can only control a single body. It was very hard to connect the dots as I had to think exact opposite of scientific that I was doing, into that of spiritual. Right now it was still a theory but If it is successful than I can transfer my soul which has all my memories and abilities from this breaking body into one of healthy clones. However if it doesn't I'm good as dead because I need all my memories enact with my soul and into the clone to escape from this place if it doesn't and I lose myself or my memory I will be a lab rat forever. But most importantly I need my abilities to transfer with my soul to the clone as the clone is just a normal body without any abilities. I couldn't understand the reason behind it as the clone had the same DNA as mine which possibly meant this experiment still had flaws but will I tell this info to the octopus, Never. Because It would only help them in increasing their forces which I don’t want to happen. However, Now I have to act even more cautiously as I’m being monitored constantly.

I'm sure I can freely manipulate my spiritual body but the main problem is, after creating the clone, I have to move my soul and adjust into the clone, which has many flaws. First, I would be defenseless at the moment of transfer of soul as I can't use abilities in that state. Second, The clone might die if I take too much time to adjust and I can't use others bodies because using others body means breaking in with force and I could only use that body for few seconds before it starts to break down and die, which also results in my soul releasing in the air and dispersion of my soul. And the most obvious is that I'm being constantly observed by so many people that are working under octopus, so It will be one hell of a job to create a clone and transfer my soul to it while avoiding above flaws. Even If I say that my brain has become far more calculating and combining that with my own personal experience and ability It won't be too hard to succeed but I need to wait for a chance or make one. I can't wait for someone non-existing being to come and help me, so Currently I'm Trying to make the later one successful. I need to make a distraction as soon as possible because this body of mine will only last for few weeks at maximum.

And To do so, I'm trying to obtain as much information I can using my AI. Right now Dr. Otto and few of his secret companions are observing me and my body for any type of physical or mental change that's why I can't do anything rash or suspicious. Currently they are gathering data from my AI to see my mental state which means I'm connected to their server. But if I to want gain more information without them knowing then that is going to be hard. Especially when my AI is in Degraded form like this. I'm using my AI by using a virtual keyboard inside my brain, just like searching for something on internet. However, in practicability though, My AI is much more capable. It doesn't matter if it's battle against someone or hacking a super computer as long as I can type the command clearly, it can do it, But that is the main flaw, I have to type it. It isn't efficient to close my eyes and type something in my mind in the middle of fighting someone because to type something you need to focus on every single keyword. And If I can't get the information, the way I want, whenever I want, then it more or less useless. So, I have been trying to upgrade it by using Psychometry for a long time. But Psychometry can only help in creating hypothesis, Program and techniques, at the end of the day, I have to correct and check for any errors myself which is not possible even with my sixty percent mental capacity, but that just shows how powerful my AI really is. Even if Dr. Otto try to merge another AI with a person using my result It will still fail because It was thanks to all those experiments which were indirectly benefitting each other but even if they find this I doubt many people will survive this, the fact that I’m alive is quite a miracle in and itself.

That's when a realization hit me, I have been trying integrate everything I expect an AI to do at the same time which makes it harder to detect the mistakes in the hypothesis as it becomes very large in size, But what if I integrate a single function at a time, that will not only make the program shorter but also easier to detect errors. Then using this method I first made a program on Auto-Modification, which will make the AI modify its functions itself automatically. I have to be clear on every condition to make it work, Like meaning of modification, Occurrence time, place, and other things like Why, How and What it modifies. Just like when creating a program on a computer. But if there are any unclear condition the AI will show an error. And after few trial and error I finally add it into the AI. However currently there are no other function so there is nothing to modify, however I made sure that If I add a function it will rapidly modify it to the maximum. After that I wanted to add a Personality that I can interact and command with just my mind or by using my physical voice, which can help me anytime I want. And I had the perfect ability for it, Psychometry, Which is literally the study of a personality So, I didn't have to do much. I made the program to have voice features, added gender of the personality, language it can comprehend which is almost all type in the whole galaxy and so on. After I modified the program created by Psychometry according to my preferences and I added it to the AI but as expected It displayed error at first. Soon after tinkering I successfully added it to the AI and as soon as the AI got new function the Auto-modify got to work by immediately applying different modification that will help the new function to upgrade itself But it seems It was going take some time. Well if it is successful than it will be worth the wait.

I was a little optimistic about it because I was more or less going to depend on it. But suddenly the whole ship started to shake a little. I peeked through my eye to see what was going on but the octopus and other scientist were totally ignoring it as if they expected it to shake a little. After few minutes the shaking subsided but for a moment I thought everything was floating but after a second everything went back to normal. I was curious as well as scared to find out what was going on. I didn’t have the full control of my senses even though I have more than sixty percent brain capacity unlocked. Well one of the reason is that I’m being continuously being drugged and other is the water inside this glass tube has the same effect of that drug that are trying to make my senses numb. But it isn’t like they can though because they still thank I have only unlocked my abilities around thirty to forty percent and that’s why I’m letting them think I am full under their control otherwise I’d be taken out and will be constantly experimented on. After a hour or so later the Personality fully integrates with the AI. However times like this I would be overjoyed but I couldn’t sense any of that. I only thought that came to me was I did some calculation and was successful. Nothing more Nothing less.

I again thought to myself ‘ I really don’t have any emotion, huh!’

Not only my emotion but it seems my personality was also getting a little colder as I had the urge to directly command the AI to get me some information. But I held it back. It was like me giving order to myself which will probably end up in an endless paradox so, first I decided to interact with it. The virtual keyboard which I used all this time was gone and if I tried I couldn’t get it back. Then suddenly I hear a voice.

“ Good Evening, Master! ”

It was a female voice which might sound like normal at first time but it had a slightly mechanical or monotonous tinge mix in it that was very chilling. I expected this as I had programmed it myself but now It is successful I can change and add any feature I want. So, I answered calmly or rather I was always unnaturally calm every time I spoke to others or to someone using my physical voice as it had become a part of my personality. Although I have a very tiny fragment of emotion, from what I used to be in the past, in myself I cannot express it outside myself and can only be heard in my mind. I saved that tiny fragment just when It was about to disappear and stored in the AI.

“Good Evening. It might be a little difficult to interact without any name or body. How about a name first?”

“ If that is what you wish.”

“Very well then. From now on You will be called Mei.”

“Thank you very much, Master ”

“Now for your appearance. You might not be visible to others but you can express to me in any form as you wish. You can also choose someone from memories, as you might have already scanned through them, except for ‘her’ though.”

I had many girls in my memories but most of them are anime girl. She could choose anyone she wishes. But I told her to not to use the appearance the girl I loved and because of my memories I’m probably sure she already knows, but still I know it will only harder for me to focus.

“I will choose this then. I might want to change to others appearance as well but for now this is sufficient.”

She says after appearing before me in a maid uniform. She had black hair reaching down to her waist, blues eyes just like mine but even prettier, and she also had medium sized cleavage on her chest that can be seen a little through her uniform. Her curved body combined with those pretty eyes and perfect face made her seem like an beautiful angel. It seems she had just combined them all together. I thought to myself.

“It suits you well, Mei.”

“Thank you, master ”

She said slightly smiling.

“Now then, What day is it today, Mei?”

“Today is Galactic Year 2034 November thirty-first. ”

“So, it’s been nearly five years since I was captured. And What is our current location? ”

“We are currently seventy light years away from Your Original planet, Earth and constantly increasing. The destination however is unknown.”

“Oh! It has finally begun then. Mei, Are there any traces of battles in these five years?”

“I cannot directly access the system as that would make them aware of my existence but from the small amount of data I gathered, It seems there is a faint trace of war.”

“What makes you say that?”

“Amount of Soldiers killed or injured, Medicine and food usage and lack of personnel in many places, It all hints to that. It seems that your foresight is correct.”

“You can tell, huh!”

“Of course, Because it’s you, master.”

So after the start of my experimentation In where between these five years, one of the royal family under ‘that’ powerful family must have come to earth but because the Chloros family’s whole force is on and nearby earth, the Chloros family must have won against the family sent by that powerful family. But now that they have won they are now trying to directly confront that powerful family directly. Are they Overestimating themselves? Or Do they have a way to turn things around? It’s probably the latter. But what should I do now? I have no way to return to home but there isn’t anyone waiting for me either. The number of problem I am facing have increased by a lot at once.

Currently My body is breaking down rapidly and doesn’t have much time. I have to figure out a way to escape before that. But now that I am in space and the Chloros family is going on a full-scale war it won’t have much of a meaning even if I were to destroy this ship. However, If ‘that’ family is powerful as the rumors say than I might be able to even wipe the Chloros family with their help as they are currently fighting each other. But the problem is how do I escape from this place without anyone noticing? And even If I were to escape How do I contact or even reach that powerful family? It seems there is only way to solve this. I really didn’t wanted to do this because it might cause more problems than it’s worth But I have to risk it all.

“Mei, How much information can you gather on our destination and time of arrival without them noticing?”

“It might take a while but it isn’t impossible. ”

“Very well and what about that powerful family that was saving earth till now?”

“It depends upon their firewall and security to detect threat but if it is classified then it is impossible without getting noticed.”

“How much time would it take, to get all the classified information, if you were to go all out though.”

“Only few minutes and in that time I could even take this ship under my control, If I use my full power that is but I’m sure you already know this, Currently Your body and mind cannot handle that. ”

“Yes I’m aware but not for long. Before that though I need you to find our destination and time of arrival. I’m sure you know what I want to do.”

“Yes, Master. It shall be done.”

Saying that she disappears but I can feel her in my mind. Now then the most important issue at hand, How do I convince them I am in their side and not their enemy? Well, we’ll know when the times come.

But now that I’ve been given such a wonderful chance I wonder how far will I be able to go? We just have to wait and see.
