Chapter XXV
PART ONE
[Eternum Calendar - Year 990]
“Before we start, why don’t tell us what your real intentions were behind this attack? I just hope you won’t say something like you’re attacking us simply because you ‘dislike us’, right?”
Taking charge of the situation I asked the three figures that floated majestically in the night sky. Looking down on us from on high, their positions and postures alone told me plenty of how they thought of us. Even after two billion years of life, this world simply cannot rid itself of the stigma that is classism, a rather sad thought, perhaps it is impossible after all, for sentient beings to view each others as equals.
Nodens stared down at me with a twitch in his eyes, could it be that he’s already forgotten about me after two long years? After all, from his position I’m nothing more than a mere human that he encountered long ago, but from my perspective he is the greatest hurdle to my life.
“You are…”
He responds, oh? Could it be that he actually remembers?
“Goodness, I thought you’ve forgotten about me. I’m honored that I left even a smidgen of impact to be etched in the deepest bowels of your memories.”
“So you continue to live.”
As an act of defiance I respond with a pleasant, false smile, the most arrogant and pretentious one I could muster up, the high god deserves nothing less. At this he winces at me in disgust, ‘I’m winning’ I thought as I see his reaction, it was rather amusing really. I mean I could’ve continued this on all day but then I remembered that there was a war to be fought.
“So? Are you going to tell us your real intent on this assault?”
I asked once more, all hints of pleasantry and negotiations wiped off my face.
“I would also like to know. Hostility between our two forces has existed since long ago, yet your side refuses to give an answer to these attacks, thus our only recourse was war. I shall hear it from you now, why do you antagonize us so?”
Coming to stand beside me is Admiral Ordwell, he adjusts his hat a little before glaring up at the three gods in the air, one with all the wisdom of however many centuries he has lived. The one who responded to the Admiral’s question wasn’t Nodens but Dagda, he flew down and stood in front of us with his large frame overshadowing us.
Looking down with a sly grin on his face he locks his eyes with the Admiral.
“What other reason for war is there than the glory of defeating your enemies?!”
Without even provocation Dagda makes the first move by throwing a punch. The Admiral, quick on his feet tried to block the attack but Dagda’s huge frame wasn’t simply for show but actually was as dangerous as he looked. The admiral was sent back flying past the gate and crashed into one of the buildings.
Dust and smoke started to rise from the aftershock. ‘How dirty’, I thought to myself, although admittedly I wasn’t the best person to be saying this.
That was the start of the war; the second heaven realm war had started.
PART TWO
-Cedric’s PoV-
The war had finally begun and everyone scattered from on top of the city’s gates. I took a few steps into the city to hide myself, though we had an unspoken agreement that we wanted to cause as little damage to the city as possible, thus it was important for me to leave from this spot immediately.

Still, my opponent was that monster who smacked away Admiral Ordwell as though he was an insect. However, I couldn’t help look around for Andras’ presence, she wasn’t with the gods so perhaps she was concealing her presence for a chance to get a sneak attack, no that wouldn’t be her style.
She’s more of a direct person than that. I’ll just have to trust Morgant and leave her up to him to deal with, it’s unlikely that he’d end up killing her, he doesn’t currently have the strength to do so.
Dagda stood on top of the city gates with a large eerie grin on his face. With such strength backing him up, it really would’ve been hard for anyone else to deal with him. As Morgant said, against Dagda who’s most prominent feature was his immense physical strength I may have been the best choice.
However that doesn’t mean that there were no problems in this match up. My body may have complete physical damage immunity but my armor does not, and its necessary for me to wear this suit to keep my humanoid form. In other words it is possible to remove a lot of my mobility be destroying the armor that holds together my form.
Another problem was that I posses a single weakness, that is my nucleus. Ordinarily slimes do not possess such a feature but most slimes also don’t have much of an intelligence and move only according to their instincts. In exchange for my intellectual superiority against my kinsmen I have a nucleus; a brain that acts as the basis for my sentience as well as my weakness.
So far the only person who has found out about this was Morgant. It was a few years ago when we first met he reached past his dominant hand and greeted me with his left hand, at first I thought it was a simple mistake but that wasn’t it, he knew about it.
In any case, if my nucleus was destroyed then most likely my personality would die as well, it could be that my body and life may not be taken away but to go back to living without intelligence like I had been, it is an unpleasant thought. Life without any thought, is that so different from death itself?
Dagda was starting to get a little annoyed that everyone else has started to fight without him. From the looks of it, he wasn’t as blatant as to join into fray of his ally’s battles but his patience was near its end. At this rate the balance of power will be tilted, thus I decided to go in for the engagement.
Texzatopekmetziluxotl, or else ‘Xotl’ as Morgant called him, the previous demon lord’s servant who was now currently serving under Morgant under the previous demon lord, Erendel’s wishes. We had strategized on how we were going to form our attacks and movement, in the end we weren’t as smart as the others thus decided on a simple ‘shield’ and ‘spear’ combination.
There was a reason why Xotl didn’t show himself at the current time. He was hiding and acting as the ‘spear’ while my role was to distract Dagda and act as the ‘shield’.
“Argh! Is there no one to challenge me?!”
Dagda shouts as he eyes the other combatants.
“Your opponent is me!”
I dashed straight into battle whilst activating a defensive skill known as [Fortification]. It was a skill that converted all of my offensive capabilities into defensive ones which literally doubled my already impressive defense. Of course this wasn’t specifically for myself per se, but to allow my armor to receive much more punishment.
As this skill makes my offensive stats near non-existent I threw away my sword and pinned my hopes on my shield. In the first place I didn’t have such naïve thoughts that I would be able to even put a scratch on this person. However, as expected of the one know as the ‘war god’, he reacted to my sudden presence extremely quickly and retaliated thusly.
He had no visible weapons but hurled enhanced punches towards me; his fists emitted a sort of golden, heavenly aura and every time it connected with my shield a large golden explosion ensued. I placed my shield in front of me to receive those attacks but each punch felt extremely heavy and powerful, even with doubling my defenses it wouldn’t be realistic to hope my shield would last too long against it.
Not only that, his attack rate and speed was absurdly fast and accurate, it almost felt as though his physical capabilities were a cheat. I held on to my large tower shield as though my life had depended on it as I moved backwards, thinking that defense alone wasn’t going to cut it I tried to dodge a few hits after I recognized his fighting patterns.
“Hahaha! This is amazing! You’re the first opponent that hasn’t broken even after all this punishment! FUN! THIS IS TRUE BATTLE! SHOW ME SOME MORE!”
He shouts out, the enhancements on his fists turn from gold to a menacing red color. His punches were now leaving large dents on my shield, figuring that it wouldn’t do well if my shield broke off there, I retracted from him a little by dashing backwards. However Dagda wasn’t keen on letting me escape from his attack range, and quickly he covered the distance between us; the power of his dashing speed was also unbelievable, extremely fast to even keep track of by the naked eye.
He continued to throw punches but eventually I managed to dodge one and decided to counter attack with a skill known as [Shield Bash], which was also a form of enhanced attack but using a shield. He received the hit and slid back a few centimeters. Taking advantage of this situation I employed a few more defensive skills.
[Stone Castle]
[Iron Defense]
[Warrior’s Tenacity]
[Art of Defense]
I felt my body become even harder that before, ironic as I was a slime in the end. Still, with this amount of defensive boosts it may even stop this monster. Or so I had thought but I was naïve, this monster was simply playing with me the whole time. The enchantment on his fists turned from red to blue. He covered the short distance between us and threw an extremely potent blow towards my unguarded abdomen.
His fist pierced past my armor and body and came out the other end. Luckily since I was a slime I didn’t feel the impact of the hit but my armor had burst open.
“Hmm~? What’s this… a slime? The inside is a slime?!”
He distorted his face for a bit in disgust, but returned back to his arrogant smile. As a slime I have no real solid form but I did have limited control over my own body so it wasn’t hard to stop my contents from spilling out of the hole in the armor, if anything it felt a little uncomfortable to be feeling breeze enter but I was fine.
“Hmph.”
I said as I took advantage of the fact that he wasn’t looking to attack with [shield bash] once more. However even though he wasn’t paying attention he didn’t budge from the position, it was as though I was trying to punch through solid diamonds. Just how strong is this monster?!
“Hah, this is my first time fighting a slime as strong as you. They say that slimes have the special ability to negate physical damage. I see, so that’s why you’re my opponent, the enemy has done their research as well, I’m rather impressed. But still, relying on special traits alone won’t be enough to fight me! Prepare yourself. Slime!”
Dagda continued his flurry of punches, even more vicious and potent before, I had to mitigate the damage with a lot of dodging and become my body was that of a slime I was able to pull of some crazy positions to do so. I back dashed away from Dagda and sent a signal to Xotl to commence his attacks.
Dagda reacted obviously to my backing away and tried to close the gap, but because it was so easy to tell that he would do that, Xotl had a clear line of attack. An ominous black spear was thrown towards him, connecting with his right shoulder and piercing through to the other side. Even for someone as monstrous as Dagda, this really did some damage, enough to stop him temporarily.
“Pfftt~ hahaha~ interesting… I wonder how long it has been since I’ve actually been damaged like this. This is very interesting!”
Almost as though he was angry he pulled out the spear that had pierced his right shoulder. The oddest thing was that even as he did so no blood ever spewed out, was he undead? No he clearly wasn’t, but still.
He returned our attack with a bone chilling smile, etched across his face it was an ominous reminder of my own mortality against this opponent. Monster? No, that was far too kind to call him, he was even more of a demon than we were.
His power, it was a terrifying prospect, did our predecessors really fight against such an opponent? Is it even possible to win against him? Although my mission’s parameters were never to outright defeat him, but even if I stalled him here long enough for the others to finish up their fight; even with everyone’s combined strength was it possible to still win? It doesn’t seem like we’d come out on top no matter how I looked at it.
Does this being even have a weakness?
Like before we continued our waltz of defend, retreat, strike. Several more holes were drilled into him by Xotl’s spears yet he continues to move like they were small specs of dust. In fact the more he was damaged the more powerful his skills and attacks seemed to become, almost as though he’s entered into a state of ecstasy from the air of battle alone.
“Tsk, monster.”
I muttered as I continued to defend and avoid his strikes. He replies with a hefty laugh.
“Hahaha, why thank you! As fellow monsters we should fight more like one!”
He attacks become even more empowered than they were before, from blue to black, and slowly his attacks literally punched a holes through my tower shield. This wasn’t good, the structural integrity of my shield has already been breached making it almost dead weight. Perhaps only a few more hit and my trusty shield was done for.
There was no way out of this situation aside from trusting my allies, I just hope with their powers we can somehow overcome this monster.
PART THREE
-Arachna’s PoV-
Aer and I stood glaring at our opponent. A creepy guy drabbed in all black with a single disgusting mask on his face. Was he really that strong? He doesn’t appear muscular or particularly skilled in combat, even Astaroth said that he didn’t partake in the battle against the previous generation demon generals. Still, it may be bad to underestimate my opponent like this so I’ll take caution and set up before hand.
[Glacial Spiderlings], they were small, remote, explosive mines in the form of a miniature crystal spider that I could control and move around. The only problem was that they couldn’t go airborne so all I could do was set them up on the ground for when he lands.
“Then, I’ll go in first dear younger sister.”
Aer tells me while licking her lips in a seductive smile, what was she going to do, seduce the enemy? As she slowly approached Dian Cecht, in her black hands she held a small ball of magical energy, one a fiery red and one icy blue. Unlike me, Aer is extremely talented as a magician, able to easily [dual cast] magic.
“Now, why don’t we continue the conversation that my allies tried to make earlier, what is the real reason for your assault?”
Dian Cecht stands like a dead tree, without response, he doesn’t even acknowledge the threat Aer was trying to make with her magic. Aer breathed out a sigh of disappointment and without provocation shot the two magical attacks towards him. An extremely potent fire that burnt even parts of the ground into molten rock and frigid ice magic that froze the molten rocks on top of the fire magic.
After a direct hit a multi-colored explosion took place, engulfing the entire area in smoke and dust. However, far from being destroyed after the smoke and dust had cleared all that remained was Dian Cecht’s unwavering figure. As though he had taken no damage from that attack he scoffed underneath that mask as a black mist shroud surrounded him.
It was a kind of magic that I’ve never seen before, if it was even magic in the first place. The black mist that surrounded him seemed to move according to his will as he directed it back and forth. Intrigued by it I stared a bit but in my daze I had failed to notice that the black mist was creeping up at me until it was too late.
Intercepting in time was Aer’s [flame bomb] attack that exploded before me and dispersed the slithering black mist.
“Arachna you idiot! Pay attention, we’re at war!”
My older sister reprimands me with a fierce stare and loud voice. It brought me back to reality and prepared myself by casting a [glacial mist shield] around myself, similar to Dian Cecht’s black mist, mine was a frigid white color. Aer also prepared defensive spells in the form of a [heat mist shield], which was similar to my [glacial mist shield] but was a fire element shield and thus red and orange in color.
Dian Cecht seemed to be up to battle now as he spread his wings and took flight. Unfortunately for me, I was incapable of flight, I wasn’t that kind of demon, but Aer on the other hand was entirely capable of it. I shot her a glance and understanding my intentions she gave me a nod and spread her wings. Her large brown and black wings majestically took flight in the night sky whilst all I could do was stay grounded and provide support.
Dian Cecht flew closer and lunged an attack with his black mists, I wasn’t entirely sure what kind of element was attuned into those attacks but for the time being Aer’s [heat mist shield] was able to successfully defend against it.
To be honest, sky battles between two magicians were rarely that exciting, at most it was just the two throwing magical attacks back and forth. The reason for this was that concentrating on magic spells and flying were extremely difficult; to maneuver around the enemy’s attacks took much more effort than simply defending against it. For that reason it was actually more advantageous of me that I was on the ground and had many more options to attack Dian Cecht from.
Aer and Dian Cecht was exactly in that kind of battle, the two flung magic attacks at each other. Aer with her fire and ice magic, and Dian Cecht with his mysterious dark magic, is he really a god with the divine affinity?
I recognized most of Aer’s spells.
[Flame Bolt] - a standard intermediary fire magic. It was the most common attack that Aer threw at the enemy, it didn’t have any gimmicks attached to it but it was a reliable basic attack.
[Plasma detonator] - a delayed explosion magic, it’s more aptly described as ‘air mines’ as they were placed all over the place in case Dian Cecht chose to move about. The explosion radius was extremely large so even a small step into its effective range could be fatal, so far Aer set up around 20 but Dian Cecht was careful about where he was moving and was aware of the effective range.
[Eruption] - it was an advanced fire magic that was better used on the ground, it shot a pillar of magma from the ground and up to the sky, most likely Aer was trying to make Dian Cecht move into the range of the [plasma detonators].
[Glacial javelin] - a standard intermediary ice magic, it was also a common attack that Aer threw, mostly in conjunction was [flame bolt] for a [dual cast] magic spell.
[Frozen Domain] - an advanced ice magic spell that froze the area of combat, the purpose of this was to strength the power of ice type magic as well as hinder the enemy’s movements. As expected of Aer’s magic, it could even slowly down a God’s movements to a noticeable degree.
On the other hand Dian Cecht constantly threw out black mists to defend and attack, his attack didn’t deviate from that but even that single spell was extremely potent as none of Aer’s magic ever got through that shield but Dian Cecht had already landed a few hits.
An amazing display of technicolored explosions took place in the sky. However it was not time for me to huddle around on the ground without doing anything, I quickly moved to a better location and commenced my ground barrage. I had transformed back to my demon spider form, a form that I wasn’t exactly fond of using, it reminds me that deep down that I was different from everyone else.
The insect demon race was a rather unique race as only one demon with a specific form exists at a time. While we’re all born from the great cocoon and we’re all technically siblings we all have different forms. In my case I was the spider demon, the only spider demon in existence, another will arise after I died but whilst I was alive there would be none like me.
The same principle applied to my siblings, my sister also, her form is entirely unique to her.
I shook my head, it really wasn’t the time to be thinking about that. In any case, this arachnid form was special, it enhances my magical capabilities while lowering my mobility. Long ago I had gained the nickname ‘the walking artillery’, an apt description. I prepared my magic spells and several blue magic circles appeared before me, ready to fire my spells at my command.
I waited for an opportunity until I had a clear line of attack that didn’t interfere with Aer’s attacks. The last thing we need is my attack to interrupt Aer’s and have Dian Cecht take advantage of that. Even though air battles between magicians were supposed to be rather static, as expected of high level magicians, there’s no unnecessary movements, they’re moving just enough to either dodge or block the attack.
Though unfortunately I’d have to say that Dian Cecht has the upper hand, which is of course why I was here. I prepared my spell, [Glacial cutter], a thin beam of ice had propelled itself at great speeds towards Dian Cecht’s location, and since he was too preoccupied with his air battle with Aer I was able to land a direct hit.
Perhaps it should’ve been expected but I really thought my attack would’ve penetrated through his shield, but it didn’t. it was an absurdly strong shield, my attack that could’ve pierced even a mountain was blocked by a thin veneer of mist, not to mention I was in my spider form.
Aer launched a barrage of [glacial javelins] towards him at a concentrated rate to break through his shield but it was probably not enough. He simply floated towards Aer with a smug figure and placed his hands through her [heat mist shield] and went directly for her; like lovers they were locked into a fierce competition of strength with their fingers entwined with each other.
Like this Aer was incapacitated and unable to do anything, if she even slightly deviated her mind off her hands to prepare for a magic spell her hands would be crushed and she would probably die soon after.
Noticing that I did everything in my power to pry him off.
[Glacial Javelins] of my own. A more highly concentrated [glacial cutter]. [Ice Golems], [Frozen Web], [Ice bomb], [Glacial Drill], many more magic that I could think of I tried to use but none of them were effective. For what purpose were we even fighting against an opponent that we couldn’t touch? This was already at a level far beyond ‘out of our league’ the enemy were at a realm of their own.
No, I knew why I was fighting, because it was Morgant’s wishes that we do. If it was for his wish then I’d be glad to fight till I died but this situation was already beyond hopeless. Were we all just going to die here? Perhaps it is our fate, in the end justice triumphed over everything, like nothing else mattered and everything else was just garbage. The beings who represented light and justice had sent down their judgment upon us.
At the peak of my despair I had remembered something that Morgant had told me. Before this battle had started he told me something.
‘Don’t you want vengeance? On the people responsible for taking away your dear brother?’
Honestly, I didn’t even know how he knew of my past, but most likely Aer was the one who told him some time. At remembering those words I could only wryly smile to myself, yeah, that’s right I really wanted revenge, to those who took away my dear brother I wanted nothing more than to tear them apart. Those very beings were right in front of me, we were even fighting them, how could I give up here?
‘Justice, it is what the gods deem themselves to be, they also deem anyone against them as evil. If that is the case, then what need is there to fight fairly? If we are evil then let us show them the power of evil.’
He said. For a ten year old boy he sure can spout out those lines filled with malignant intents with ease. I can only shudder to think about what he’d grow up to be. With renewed determination I disregarded what I was trying to do and adopted a different strategy.
[Glacial Javelin], boosted both by my spider form and Aer’s [Frozen Domain], it didn’t work before and it probably won’t do to attack him again. Then I just need to shift my target, to my dear sister. I’ll just attack her instead.
I lunged two javelins towards them, and both scored a direct hit through Aer’s arms tearing them apart. With that she was able to finally escape from Dian Cecht’s grasp, better her arms being destroyed than her life being taken, I thought. Her arms can be repaired with magic later but for now it was imperative to defeat the enemy with whatever means. It looked extremely painful but I grit my teeth as I saw her expression of disbelief as she fell, unable to sustain flight.
I shouted towards her.
“Transform!”
Hearing my voice, Aer came back to her senses and through the tears of pain and disbelief she got herself up again and sustained her flight. Blood spewed from her arms but she disregarded it as a bright light engulfed her, giving the city of perpetual night a temporarily sun. The light grew more intense and larger with each passing second until it subsided only after blinding everyone.
What escaped from the light was a giant moth, larger than any being I’ve seen. Of her six legs, two of them were clearly gone, no thanks to me.
With each flap of her wings a hurricane blew past with glittering particles that were mixed in with the wind. This was Aer’s special ability, [Magic disruption], it doesn’t outright seal the opponent’s magic but it does disrupt them, the effects of which include making it harder for the opponent to cast magic, making the opponent’s magic consume much more mana, making the enemy’s magic weaker.
Against a magician, this monster of a sister was the worst opponent. In fact it was already taking effect as Dian Cecht’s black mist shield was starting to dissipate and fluctuate without being able to keep a solid wall up. Taking this opportunity, Aer flew all over the place at extremely high speeds for a being with that large of a body frame, as she did she started to spew fire from her mouth, not even needing to prepare a magic spell.
I also took liberty to strike while the enemy’s defenses were down. This time I activated my own special ability. [Venenum Arcanum]. Poison attribute magic, of course this doesn’t mean I have access to poison type magic, such a thing likely doesn’t exist, but this special ability adds the poison elements in my attack. If Aer can disrupt the opponent from the outside, then I can do so from the inside.
[Glacial Javelins], I launched several of them and thanks to Aer’s [magic disruption] ability I was able to get in a direct hit. Due to the impact of the attack and the poison that was applied to my attacks starting to eat at him from the inside he was unable to continue his sustained flight and fell the floor.
Of course during which my prior set up [glacial spiderlings] swarmed at him and proceeded to explode. The result was a badly beaten up so-called ‘god’. His mask was starting to slide off revealing a menacing golden glow from behind along with an extremely pissed off look.
“If you surrender now we’d be willing to consider sparing your life.”
I started to bargain with him, but he only glared at me with a pained expression. It was the poison, even though he was knocking on death’s door he didn’t seem to even care about my negotiation.
He readjusted his mask and casted some sort of light spell. It wasn’t even a holy attribute magic either, some sort of soothing light that I’ve never seen before. His powers really confuse me, sometimes they don’t even seem like it’s magic but it has to be if Aer’s [Magic Disruption took effect.
Soon after, before my very eyes, Dian Cecht’s figure started to heal at an rapid rate. All of the damage we had struggled to deal with healed off in an instant, all the strength was drained from me, and my spider form undone.
This was impossible… we can’t win.
Before we were about to resume our fight Dian Cecht shifted his gaze towards the enemy leader, Nodens. He tried to escape our fight and rejoin with him, that was obviously going to be bad so I tried to stop him with my magic but I was interrupted before I could do so and he had escaped.
“M- Ms. Arachna.”
I heard a voice from behind me, it was Lilith.
"Lilith?”
I asked, what about her fight? Was it already over? No, standing behind her was a female werewolf, most likely the traitor Andras. Figures, I didn’t particularly think that Morgant and Lilith were powerful enough to defeat an average demon general with strength alone, they must’ve won her over with words.
“Lord Morgant wants us to regroup.”
Aer, who had also had her insect form undone listened in. I gave her a look and nodded to which she also nodded and we decided to listen to Morgant’s orders to regroup. She looked extremely tired and battered, her usually neat hair was a mess and covered one side of her face.
“Looks like Andras is back.”
Aer says. Having decided that we went back to Astaroth who was also beaten extremely heavily, her figure was bloody by the enemy’s attack. Everyone else was there as well, at first I was confused as to what was happening, was it a truce but there was a single person missing from this group, that was Morgant himself.
We were hidden within the walls of the city, I asked why we were just hiding here but everyone shook their heads as they answered it was Morgant’s idea. I sent one of my spiderlings to check up on that front and see what it was. I could telepathically see what my minions saw.
The enemy leader, Nodens, was staring down at Morgant who was alone with extreme malice. Behind him were Dagda who had a rather satisfied smile on his face and Dian Cecht who silently stood behind.
Just beyond the gate was the entire enemy force of nearly 500 000 soldiers. I looked around to see if it meant that our force were defeated but I could still see the lights at the far ends meaning that we had them surrounded, though little good that would’ve done us.
I don’t know what they were saying up til that point but the situation didn’t look good.
I was about to jump onto Morgant’s shoulders and ask him why we had paused the fight but I noticed an incredibly evil grin etched across his face, so bone-chilling that even an ice spider was frozen from fear. Was this really the expressions of a ten year old?
“Child of evil, what do you think you can do against beings far beyond your comprehension?! You are nothing but a mere human against those your infinite greater! My biggest mistake was not killing you when I had the chance!”
‘Idiots’, Morgant muttered under his breath with extreme glee in his eyes. Then he spoke words that I didn’t understand but as he did everything my spider saw went white.
“Commence Orbital Bombardment.”

Reality Grants One Chance
Some people are lucky, some aren't, some - have terrible luck. Our "hero" is of the latter kind. During young age he got into an accident, which allowed him to learn the fact that he belongs to a rare group of people.. People diagnosed with lung cancer, which he, however survived. Can't say he's lucky, as his life went downhill from that point... Our story happens years later, when his fate decides to make a loop and throw him in the same kind of accident. He gets hit by a truck. Surviving the crash, suffering just a few scratches, he is ultimately "lucky" to find himself out of the hospital in no time.. however every bit of good luck always brings him terrible luck afterwards. This time pushing him maybe a bit too far.. How far? Making him vanish without a trace and find himself in the middle of an unknown forrest. Doesn't sound bad? He can consider himself lucky? Just wait and see...It can always get worse.. always.. .... Congratulations, you've made it through the intro and into the author note! If you by any chance missed the tags and didn't read the warning, please do that now. I really recommend you to. Before you jump to reading, and unintentionally scar yourself, do mind that the story is about a dark, unforgiving world, a world in which you have more opportunities to die a horrible death, than take a piss. Hero doesn't have great luck, he has dumb persistance, he doesn't go through any trial with a breeze, he pays the price of blood, flesh and tears to live..and will be paying for every mistake.. No one outright explains anything to him, just as us for the most part - he is not sure what the hell is going on.. Some real survival tactics are used as a base of the descriptions, they are as important to the world and character as any other element.. Mind that the story starts really slow, but as the stone starts rolling downhill - the pace gets faster.. Every tag for this novel has a reason to be there, so if you don't see the particular element there, don't panic.. it's either well camoufalged, subtle or simply not encountered as of yet. Big thanks to Hobbo, Enyhrye and Hveth! ...not only pointing that the description could be better, but providing invaluable input.. and being patient enough to give fleshed out advice.

There is a common line of questioning that falls upon students within their first moments at Kingsly. “Why?”. The student asks, “Why am I here?”. This is a futile line of questioning. There are those who remember, and those who do not. I’ll spare you the technical explanation — that’s what we have teachers for. The jist is as follows: those who remember are... how do I put this... more likely. They occupy more time. and the space that time has allowed them — the pertinent amount — is experienced no matter what. Allow me to offer you a bit of personal information: I am not one who remembers. There is no time relevant to me, no space that I occupy. I exist by carving myself here, and continue to exist in the same fashion. You would do well to follow suit. Why am I here? Because I force myself to be. Because the universe, the universes, for all its kicking and screaming, cannot escort me out.
8 237Eliot Ness for Mayor
An everyman tests his mettle when a Voodoo god, in the guise of a kindly crackpot, thrusts him back in time and into a violent riot. Ironworker Frank O'Brien digs his life: great wife, tight family, and a job he loves, raising skyscrapers for a firm whose owner he respects. Smooth going until his boss, the owner's grandson, stirs racial and labor tensions. Soon, Frank's fighting the good fight, and standing tall seems to work. He even manages a few allies until a Voodoo god mucks up the works, knocking Frank back to 1966 and into the center of Cleveland's Hough riots to test his mettle. Needless to say, getting back to see his little girl's youth orchestra recital's gonna be a bitch. ELIOT NESS FOR MAYOR is a short novel of magical-realist fiction, a stand-alone book in the Shantytown Cycle. Written for National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo), I will be posting revisions as I complete them and should be done by early 2022, though I am making major changes so the timing may be longer. This book is cross-posted on two websites: Wattpad and Royal Road. Both are reputable, high-quality sites. Do not trust this book on other websites. They "scrape" material from reputable sites, posting the stolen material as an original to lure users in, but contain links that include malicious code.
