《Life of the dark god》Epilogue Life of the dark god

In an unknown and dark place, two men stood next to each other. They were surrounded by millions of books and bookshelves, but it didn’t look like a normal library. There was no light, nor any workers or other people. It was like a huge maze, which seemed to host no way out.

The one to the right wore a white training suit and his chaotic blue hair looked unmovable. He had a smile on his mouth, while always leaving his eyes closed. On one hand it seemed creepy, but a normal person would think of him as a careless and naïve person.

The other one had brown hair and looked like he hadn’t slept for a very long time. He only wore a brown robe and had no special features on him, which would differ him from other people. In his right hand he held an open book and with a serious face, he completely focused on reading it.

“…” (?)

The one with the robe seemed to be finished reading and closed the book. The title shined in the darkness and the words [Life of the dark god] could be read. He took a deep breath, as if he had to swallow all the information he just got.

“Are you for real? What shitty ending is that? This isn’t like you at all, Hikaru.” (?)

After finishing reading, all he did was throwing complaints about the book at the other guy. It didn’t seem as an insult, but more as a comparison to other books.

“You don’t like it?” (Hikaru)

The one with the training suit opened his eyes for a short time. He made a face as if he’d start crying at any moment.

“Gross. Spare me that. I know you’re just making fun of me.” (?)

“Eh? But it’s so much fun teasing you Time. You’re always so serious that I can’t hold myself back.” (Hikaru)

“Sigh. Are you still going with that name?” (Time)

“You received the title of time from me, so I call you time. What’s the problem?” (Hikaru)

Time didn’t have any answer, so instead he held the book in front of Hikaru’s face and changed the issue.

“So… Why did you want me to read it?” (Time)

“Hmm?” (Hikaru)

Hikaru had a strange look, as if he forgot something important. He pressured his forehead a bit and tried to remember.

“Why indeed… Sorry, I totally forgot.” (Hikaru)

Time couldn’t believe what he just heard. It seemed that this wasn’t the first time that such an event occurred though and Time snapped out of it really fast.

“I hope you’ll at least still stick to your promise.” (Time)

“What promise might you be talking about?” (Hikaru)

Time seemed really angry at first and almost lost his cool. A normal person would have, but there seemed to be a hidden connection and Time remained calm and answered casually.

“About granting me free access to your library.” (Time)

“I’ll think about it if you tell me what you think about this.” (Hikaru)

The book which had been in Time’s hands a few moments ago was held against his face this time. There had been no chance to take it away, but Hikaru still held it in his hands and asked with a smile as if nothing happened.

“Ok, fine.” (Time)

Hikaru’s smile seemed to be irritating him, but he could still answer normally.

“I’ll start with the book itself.” (Time)

“Go ahead.” (Hikaru)

Time intensely stared at Hikaru and changed his line of sight to the book afterwards. As if he searched for an answer that would be satisfying to hear.

“Well, in my opinion, you partly failed in writing this book…” (Time)

Time made a pause to see Hikaru’s reaction. He continued as soon as he saw that there was no change in his expression.

“It lacks a lot in information and diversity. It is more or less only about you and some minor thoughts of yours, as well as the events, which you talked about.” (Time)

Time made another pause to sneak a glance again.

“You don’t have to look at me every time you make pause, you know. Just continue.” (Hikaru)

Time didn’t predict that Hikaru would instantly yell at him and was startled for a second.

“Then on the other hand you talked about people unnecessary, because no one will ever remember them.” (Time)

“I will though. Most of them helped me out in my childhood.” (Hikaru)

“You probably only wrote it to remember them. The only ones who made it past the eclipse anyways, were the five symbols as well as the princess of freedom.” (Time)

Hikaru seemed in a melancholic mood. Time left him those moments and remained quiet until he thought he could go ahead.

“The story has some heroics in it as well, but barely any literature. It’s like a report about the past.” (Time)

“Yes, that’s because I wrote it in the age of darkness.” (Hikaru)

“Well that would explain a lot. But why haven’t you corrected it then?” (Time)

“I feel like it wouldn’t be the same anymore.” (Hikaru)

Time nodded and agreed to Hikaru’s views.

“So, do I have permission to use your library?” (Time)

Time finally did everything Hikaru asked him to do. He had his hopes high.

“Hmm. I’m currently writing the next season, so if you help me write it, you can come and go whenever you want. I’ll give you a key with which you can enter and leave once for now.” (Hikaru)

“I…” (Time)

“Don’t worry it is much better than the first.” (Hikaru)

“It’s not like I have an actual choice, do I?” (Time)

“Nice. I’ll go out for a while. Take good care of this place in the meantime.” (Hikaru)

Hikaru seemed to know exactly where the exit was and headed straight ahead.

“Take your time reading as much as you want. It’s the god’s library, so you’ll find plenty of interesting stuff here.” (Hikaru)

After turning around one last time and saying those final words, Hikaru disappeared into thin air and left the depressed Time behind.
