She raised her hand and was about to stab down.

“Young miss. Calm down.”(Fire)

Luckily, that shook her up a bit and she put her hand away from my neck.

“Why do you save him? He’s an intruder to our house.”(Lucy)

“It’s not really a house anymore. It’s more of a ruin.”(Me)

I accidently said that out loud, which angered her even further.

“See, he even insults us.”(Lucy)

“Young miss. Listen to me…”(Fire)

She was flustered by the demon’s behaviour.

“In all those years you have never betrayed me, but now because of one single invader you…”(Lucy)

“You should listen to him first before jumping to conclusions.”(Me)

“What do you know?”(Lucy)

“More than you think.”(Me)

“Shut up. You’re starting to get on my nerves.”(Lucy)

“Young miss, listen to…”(Fire)

“You shut up as well.”(Lucy)

The situation went out of control a bit, so I had to do something against it.

“Did father spoil her too much?”(Me)

Both of them went quiet and waited for the other to say something.

“Hm?”(Me)

“It’s actually the opposite.”(Fire)

Lucy was still confused about why Fire and I seemed so friendly, but at least she listened to us now without interrupting.

“The master left one year after you leaving the young miss behind.”(Fire)

Something was wrong with his statement. Father wasn’t a cold-hearted person and he would definitely not leave his one year old daughter behind.

She got too impatient. At least, she was less aggressive. That didn’t mean she let me go though.

“Ah. Right. Are you gonna tell her or should I?”(Me)

“I will adjust to what the young master wants.”(Fire)

“Fine. Lucy let go of me now. I need to tell you something.”(Me)

“Why should I?”(Lucy)

I was relieved, because it sounded more of a childish reply than that of an enemy.

“Cause your big brother is telling you to do so.”(Me)

I got no reply. I looked at Fire, who replied to me with a forced smile.

“Hahahaha. That’s a stupid lie.”(Lucy)

“What stupid lie? I’m serious.”(Me)

“Gods cannot have siblings.”(Lucy)

Ah right I forgot there was a saying like that.

“Seriously. Why is every of you so sure that we cannot have siblings, I mean I am right before you.”(Me)

“Young master it’s not like they can’t have them it is more like every time a new child is born, the oldest child of the family has to die, so the Masters and Mistresses refrain from getting more than one child.”(Fire)

It was the first time I heard a more detailed explanation about that stupid rule.

“Has to die?”(Me)

“It’s like an event set by nature. Either in an accident or someone will kill the oldest child.”(Fire)

“Yes and my brother died the day I was born.”(Lucy)

“More like you killed him.”(Me)

“Again. Who are you and why do you know so much?”(Lucy)

She got serious again. Some things just slipped out of my mouth.

“My name is Hikaru and I am part of the Demon family.”(Me)

“And I already said that’s a lie.”(Lucy)

“Well. It is actually not a lie young miss.”(Fire)

I finally got Fire’s support.

“Hä… Bu…”(Lucy)

I was surprised at how fast she believed his words.

“He is certainly of the Demon family and you are as well. I can verify that.”(Fire)

“But what about the rule?”(Lucy)

“Even Master couldn’t explain it. He thought that the young master would die somewhere on the sea.”(Fire)

Perhaps he was more cold-hearted than what I remembered him to be.

Well. I actually almost died.

She finally let go of me and I was able to see her properly for the first time. She had long blond hair, which went to around her waist. Even if she looked small and fragile, I knew her body resembled that of a fierce beast.

“Are you that afraid of almost dying again?”(Lucy)

“Not really. I have small barriers around my neck, so you won’t be able to hurt me anyways.”(Me)

“I can nullify magic though?”(Lucy)

My mind worked at max speed again after hearing the words nullifying magic. I failed to learn that magic a lot of times in the past, but I saw some hope again.

“You’ll have to teach me later.”(Me)

“Why later? I can teach you now.”(Lucy)

She seemed really excited as soon as I asked her to help me.

“I want to know what happened here first.”(Me)

“I… This…”(Lucy)

I don’t know why, but as soon as I asked, Lucy looked really sad and depressed.

“More important is you said something about every one of us before?”(Fire)

He saved her from explaining for the time being, with that reminder. On the other hand, I knew that it had something to do with her for sure because of that.

“Ah. I forgot. I came here with four others. Hopefully they don’t meet the other demons working here, because we are on bad terms with the demon continent at the moment.”(Me)

“Don’t worry, we two are the only ones remaining.”(Fire)

“Eh?!”(Me)

He just leisurely said that. Meanwhile Lucy hid behind him, so I couldn’t ask her as well. I was interested in what happened, but it looked like it was better to wait a little bit before asking about that as well.

“As long as they don’t destroy anything it’s fine.”(Fire)

“They are not that kind of people.”(Me)

“Then it’s fine.”(Fire)

“I will return to them and will come back with them, if that’s fine.”(Me)

“If they are the young master’s friends we will warmly welcome them, right young miss?”(Fire)

Like a shy little kid, she just nodded from behind him.

“While you are away, we will prepare the mansion. When everything has cooled down, we can have a talk afterwards.”(Fire)

It was a good idea and the best outcome for all of us.

“Then I’ll be going now.”(Me)

Even though I just returned home after such a long time, I had to wait a little time longer to be able to enjoy it.
