《Life of the dark god》Chapter 43 The 4th court magician (4)

Silence filled the room. I waited for some sort of reply. I couldn’t avert my eyes from the expressionless king.
“Hahahahaha.”(Arthur)
His sudden laugh filled the whole throne room. No one knew what got into the king
“I like you kid. Pledging your loyalty without any hesitation.”(Arthur)
“Does this mean…”(Me)
“Yes, sure I will grant your wish. Who would ditch a promising youngster, anyway?”(King)
I was relieved. I thought I would have to go through some sort of trial to be accepted, but it turned out much better than I expected.
“If it would be possible, I would like to become an official magician.”(Me)
Miedes twitched at my wish. I understood that I made a mistake of asking another thing of the king. I quickly bowed down and hoped he would ignore it.
“I would have used you as 1 anyways. Miedes take him to the magician’s training grounds and conduct a mana test.”(Arthur)
“As you wish.”(Miedes)
Miedes stood up, made a deep bow, took my hand and pulled me out of the throne room. When we were at the huge golden door, the king gave me some final words.
“Let’s see what the nightmare has planned for us, shall we?”(Arthur)
Miedes still pulled my hand and we left the throne room. He didn’t let go of my hand until we reached the training grounds.
“Sigh. Luckily, Arthur didn’t seem offended. You should be thankful for that. What got into you?”(Miedes)
“I’m really sorry.”(Me)
“Sigh. It’s ok, I guess. In times like these, we humans need every single promising individual we can get.”(Miedes)
We went inside a room filled with all kind of stuff, I have never seen before. Miedes took a crystal sphere from 1 of the shelves and put it onto a table.

“Focus your mana into it.”(Miedes)
I put my hand onto the crystal sphere, but hesitated a bit.
“Miedes can I ask you a question?”(Me)
“Sure go ahead.”(Miedes)
“What did the king meant with his last words?”(Me)
“You mean the plan of your big brother?”(Mides)
“Yes. I have never said anything of a plan, so I don’t quite understand what he meant.”(Me)
“Hahaha. You are far too inexperienced, which makes it easy to get information out of you. Even now, you try to hide it.”(Miedes)
“I don’t understand.”(Me)
“Just by watching your language, you won’t be able to keep everything you want, hidden. Gestures, facial expressions, even slight mistakes in your way of talking can be fatal. Especially when it comes to Arthur.”(Miedes)
Miedes talked with quite some motivation and had to make a pause to catch his breath.
“He is considered as the weakest king amongst all of them, but he is able to stand on par with all the other kings, do you know why?”(Miedes)
“Because of his wisdom?”(Me)
“Hahaha. That is why I said you are still far too inexperienced. Just because I told you Arthur is tricky, you thought they fear his wisdom. Sure, it is certainly important, but what the other kings fear is his unpredictable nature, as well as his adaptability.”(Miedes)
“Why?”(Me)
“Perhaps I’ll tell you some day, but let’s do this test for now and see what your elements and mana capacity is.”(Miedes)
So many things were new for me, but I tried my best to learn from everything.
“Why do we need to do something like that?”(Me)
“What do you mean why? Naturally to see your affinity to all elements, as well as your mana capacity.”(Miedes)
“Well, I understand the mana capacity, but it is not necessary, I already know all of that.”(Me)

“Is that so. Have you done this test before?”(Miedes)
“No.”(Me)
“How are you able to know your affinity as well as your mana capacity then?”(Miedes)
“I… Wait.”(Me)
I thought of a good idea.
“If you tell me what I did wrong and how you were able to know that big brother had a plan, I will tell you.”(Me)
Miedes face was expressionless.
“Hoo. You want to negotiate. Are you sure about that?”(Miedes)
The situation seemed tense.
“Hahaha. I’m just joking. But you sure learn fast.”(Miedes)
“Sigh. So where did I mess up?”(Me)
“Hahaha, were you that nervous?”(Miedes)
I was ashamed of myself, but waited for his explanation.
“Well, you messed up a lot of times, but the worst was that you said, that it was your decision to come to the human continent.”(Miedes)
I was confused.
“You made a mistake in choosing the wrong words.”(Miedes)
“I still don’t understand.”(Me)
“Why did you have to leave the Dark Continent in the 1st place?)
“I…”(Me)
“I don’t believe that the nightmare would kick you out. You wouldn’t have tried to hide something about him then. The answer is simple. He told you something like: go out and gain fame.”(Miedes)
“How did you know?”(Me)
“Do you really don’t know or do you just pretend to be ignorant?”(Miedes)
“I really don’t know.”(Me)
“From the beginning, your destination was the capital and the thing you asked of the king was to work for him as an official magician. Why would you do something like that? You could have asked for a save and easy job, money or anything else, but you asked for something, where you could become well known by everyone, in almost no time at all.”(Miedes)
Everything Miedes said made sense. I never thought, that such trivial things could tell others so much.
“Now its your turn.”(Miedes)
“Sigh. Big brother told me.”(Me)
“Did he use some kind of item?”(Miedes)
“No he didn’t.”(Me)
Even if it was only for a split second, I saw discomfort in his expression.
“Is it that strange?”(Me)
“Well, not strange, but rather impossible.”(Miedes)
“Why?”(Me)
“I am sorry. This would require a very long explanation and I am tired. Can you tell me your affinitiy and mana capacity and we leave the topic for some other day?”(Miedes)
“Sure. I am quite tired myself. This day was definitely exhausting. My affinity is Darkness and Light and my capacity should be around 5000.”(Me)
Again, I saw discomfort in his expression.
“Is something wrong with that?”(Me)
“Sigh. I knew you were talented, but if what you say is true than this is just; You are at the same level as a court magician.”(Miedes)
“Is that something good?”(Me)
“It would mean you are the 5th strongest person when it comes down to magic in the human continent. Is that something good?”(Miedes)
I smiled embarrassed.
“Well I saw what you are capable of and as a fellow magician, I admit my inferiority. Just what kind of training did you do to get to this level at such a young age?”(Miedes)
I smiled and answered proudly.
“I went to hell and made it back alive.”(Me)
