《Life of the dark god》Chapter 29 Roles reversed

“What a stupid name. I don’t know what the boss is thinking, but he was never wrong before and we all believe in him and his plans. Isn’t that right guys?”(Leader)
After a loud cheering, I could only have feel pity for them. It was a stupid thing to trust their “boss” that much. If he was really that nice, why would he send some small fries to deal with an SS level danger? It was like sending them to their deaths. What a nice boss he was.
Moreover, if they would have just stayed quiet, perhaps I would have let them go. But well, after they showed some nerves and made me angry, I knew I couldn’t just let them walk away. Their boss knowing Kylie was also a strange matter and I had the urge to meet him. The first thing I’d do, would probably be punching him in his face, but afterwards I could think about working together with him.
“It would be really nice if I could meet your boss.”(Me)
“You are still here? I think I need to translate what I said so you can understand too. I said scram kid!”(Leader)
His underlings laughed and felt really strong. I was totally unfazed by them and with a monotone and bored voice I asked.
“Eh? But I still have unanswered question, you know?”(Me)
“I somehow have this feeling that you want to die today. I will not answer your question.”(Leader)
“That so?”(Me)
I summoned a sword out of my [space inventory] and with 1 single movement, I covered the distance of 5 metres, moved in front of him and pierced his heart with my sword. Everything happened in mere seconds, and due to him being a normal human, he had absolutely no time to react. It was an instant death and blood was spilling out of where I pierced him.

His underlings hadn’t realized what just happened and before their leader’s dead body could fall to the floor I turned to face the next person and asked again.
“I still have some question will you answer them for me?”(Me)
I had already anticipated that they would go crazy after seeing such a performance. In order to skip them running all over the place, I pierced the person I asked the question and moved to the next.
“Will you provide me with an answer, or will you try to run too?”(Me)
He was much too scared to answer, so I killed him too. I hadn’t even shed sweat yet, but 3 people of their group already died so easily.
“Eh, guys let’s do this a little bit faster, I don’t want to waste any more time. I’ll kill everyone, except 1. Whoever answers me first will stay alive and lead me to your boss. Don’t bother trying to escape, as I am also able to use magic, you will not be successful.”(Me)
Their reaction varied. Some gave up on hope and just sat down on the ground, some still tried to run away, while only 3 of them accepted my offer and waited for my question. 1st I shot some fireballs after the guys who tried to escape. They burnt to death and after some time, nothing of their corpse remained. 1 of them tried to continue running even when his whole body went up in flames.
“Sigh.”(Me)
The 3 people, who hadn’t given up hope yet, nor tried to escape, silently watched their comrades die and patiently waited for my question. They stood in a small row in front of me.
“How does your boss know of the name Kylie?”(Me)
“I don’t know! You would have to ask him.”

It was the first answer, which came from the guy on the left. He probably took my “whoever answers me first will survive” too serious. As it was not what I wanted, I sliced him in 2 halves. Both halves of his body fell backwards and the other 2 just watched, without saying anything. It was a frightening scene, but they were the ones who caused it so they should take responsibility.
“Anyone else with such a stupid answer?”(Me)
The remaining 2 shook their heads. While doing so, I noticed 1 of them averting his look a little to the side and with my next movement, his 2 halves also landed on the ground. He probably wanted to use the following situation to flee, so I killed him before he could do so.
After that, I turned around and fired another 5 fireballs into the direction he looked and at everyone else. I didn’t even need to see that some of them were desperately trying to flee, as it was quite obvious that they would do so as soon as I would look away and because I would have finished them off anyway.
“Congratulations, you are the lucky winner.”(Me)
I said and acted like he won some price.
“Let’s go, lead the way.”(Me)
I was lucky that he wasn’t a loyal dog. Because if he would have refrained from guiding me and I had to kill him, I would have had to search for their boss myself. To my surprise, the survivor, didn’t lead me outside of the forest, but even further in.
Their hideout was located underground and the only way to get there, was through 1 of their 5 entrances. The thing was, all those entrances were hidden and I would have never found them if I didn’t have a guide.
“Can I go now?”(Survivor)
The remaining man asked when we reached the entrance.
“Eh? No way. I said I’d let you live, I never said I’d let you go. You still need to play my hostage.”(Me)
If he hadn’t given up on hope before, he had at that moment. He decided to rather die by my hands than him becoming an official traitor and facing his other comrades.
“Brave choice for a coward like yourself.”(Me)
I admitted before I cut his throat.
“Let’s see the abilities of their trustworthy BOSS.”(Me)
I said and entered their hideout.

The General Core {The Sphere}
The life cycle in the Sphere is on the brink of collapse because one of its elements, the Dungeons, have been exploited too much by the mortals. The group who created the Sphere already tried and failed with several modifications, because the original computer-like dungeon cores are too inflexible to handle changing approaches. So they try another type of solution – taking souls from other worlds to try to find a solution before the Sphere Cycle breaks down completely. The General was one of the best soldiers of his world, rising from the ranks of a private through Officer School to the highest command with honors. But when his world faced a zombie apocalypse, even that was not enough and he had to make the ultimate sacrifice. Now he is asked for a repeat performance of planning and controlling a dungeon and its spawns in a world that he knows nothing about… But what is the Sphere really? What is that [Xenotic conversion] he has to go through to even enter the Sphere? Something is really strange and he will have to find out what is going on to get to his promised rewards – whatever they will be. Being a soul in a dungeon core means that the General has better chances of finding hints to the truth about the sphere – a knowledge that would help him survive. And no, the sphere is NOT a virtual reality – the key to its secrets is the place where it was physically constructed (Author’s hint). This is a dungeon core story - but there are quite a number of things that I will do differently than common to those stories. 1) I will describe the floors when they are explored, NOT when they are build. Yes, that will mean it will take longer to get to those parts - but I think describing floors both when they are build and when they are explored destroys quite a lot of chances for suspense when adventurers enter the dungeon. After all, if you as the reader already know where the traps are, then you can't really be surprised when the surfacers encounter them. 2) How the world works (and how not) is an integral part of the story, so it will be explained I'm a world-builder first and the Sphere is NOT a regular world (as hinted in the synopsis above). Things will work differently than in your 08/15 default dungeon core stories - as the General and Gunny have already learned in the second arc (and more of that is already scheduled for the next weeks (July/Aug 2019) when the Sky Arrows continue to explore and evaluate that strange dungeon) If you don't like these premises, then I'm sure you'll find a lot of other Dungeon Core stories more to your liking. But if you are interested in more than "Dungeon builds another room and corridor in medieval earth" and are not afraid of a longer and slower story, then go on. I have two more stories in the Sphere, although they both have lower priority than this one: Shaleen the Wanderer (Adventurer, NSFW) (currently on hold after some chapters) Info's on the Sphere (System Docu and Short Stories) (irregular updates when needed) Current Status reports have been moved to a new discord server: https://discord.gg/EaHkXCfm9y

Beta Test
I'm sure I'm in for some colorful criticism, But if even a few people enjoy this, I'd be happy. As of right now the story is set in Delaware around 2005'ish'. A young man from the streets, aquires a beta test invitation in an unorthodox way. The plan is to have a comical adventure in an experimental virtual reality game. I can easily transition it to a full story if its well received. If not I hope atleast one person kinda likes it. P.s. This is a work of fiction, with made up characters. Any likeness is coincidence.
