“I don’t understand.”(Lidus)
“Isn’t it quite funny to see a person spying on you getting beaten up the next time you see him?”(Me)
He still needed some tips but he understood that I saw through his act. When he realised, he started smiling. After looking me in the eyes again and after confirming I wasn’t bluffing he dropped his act completely.
“Well it was quite hilarious to see it, Hikaru.”(Lidus)
“I see, so you have already looked into my background?”(Me)
“Yes.”(Lidus)
“And, were you disappointed when you found nothing about me?”(Me)
“I found some smaller issues, but all in all, the answer is yes.”(Lidus)
“Man you are no fun, you know.”(Me)
“It would be nice if you could start talking to me with respect.”(Lidus)
“Not happening Mr. Brownie.”(Me)
“Guh.”(Lidus)
Calling Lidus Mr. Brownie did annoy him a lot and that made me super happy in my situation. I could laugh, even with the condition my body was in.
“So Mr. Lidus, or should I call you Sir Lidus, new martial arts teacher, what do you think about that rumour?”(Me)
“About the dark continent?”(Lidus)
“Yes. What else could there be?”(Me)
“Honestly, I think this is all only a small part of a big plan. That group which appeared, the connection to the dark continent, as well as the tournament in 1 month. Everything fits perfect for an individual group to wreak havoc.”(Lidus)
There were some new aspects, which I hadn’t heard of yet. Perhaps Takeshi skipped some important things which he deamed as unimportant stuff.
“I don’t understand?”(Me)
“Eh? I thought you listened to the conference?”(Lidus)
“Most of the things I know come from Takeshi.”(Me)
“There was another one, I knew it.”(Lidus)
“Hmm. Well yeah me and Takeshi. Didn’t you notice?”(Me)

“To be honest, I only noticed that 1 person was watching from afar and turned in that direction. If you hadn’t told me, I wouldn’t even know who stalked the meeting now. I had about 5 suspects, but thanks to you, I saved a lot of time and effort.”(Lidus)
It was a good feeling knowing that I hadn’t let down my guard, but Lidus just acted on impulse and noticed us by more or less coincidence. But then again, I felt really stupid for directly telling him that I was the culprit.
“Well now to the important part.”(Me)
“There is something more important than the recent incident?”(Lidus)
“Sure there is. You said something about a tournament, I want to know more. Tell me about it.”(Me)
“What?”(Lidus)
His reaction seemed rather strange in my opinion. Also his gaze. He looked at like he would at a little child who doesn’t know anything about the world. Well I actually was a child, but he didn’t need to look at me like that.
“That tournament you talked about in your theory, or whatever it was. You should know that I am new here and I have no idea of school related things.”(Me)
“Well every normal person does know about most of the tournaments hosted by the human continent. And one of the most famous ones is called the annual school tournament and as the name implies, a lot of schools send their best students to fight against each other in a tournament system. There are some other events too, like the team battle and the magic battle, but the most important 1 is the 1 vs 1 tournament.”(Lidus)
“Aha, and?”(Me)
“It will take place at the beginning of the 2nd month of the school year, so students won’t be able to relax during break and always train to improve themselves.”(Lidus)

“Aha, and?”(Me)
“Has anyone ever told you that talking to you is really hard?”(Lidus)
“Yep.”(Me)
“Sigh. The school of the winner of that tournament gains a lot of fame as well as a prize.”(Lidus)
That price piqued my interest. If that tournament was that important than there would be a precious prize for the winner.
“Which is?”(Me)
“A secret technique from Sir Pendragon himself! Can you believe it?”(Lidus)
“No, not really.”(Me)
“You don’t seem that impressed.”(Lidus)
“Well I have no idea who that Sir Pendragon is.”(Me)
In the next second, Lidus made a face like his world just crumbled.
“Alex Pendragon, 2nd reigning king of the human continent as well as the first human to be able to use magic and adapt it to human standards.”(Lidus)
“A you mean that Pendragon.”(Me)
“I am not stupid. Don’t act like you knew him, after admitting you haven’t.”(Lidus)
“Dammit.”(Me)
Thinking about meeting another king, my mood went down a lot.
“The prize sounds really nice. It would also be nice to talk to a king.”(Me)
“Who said anything about you receiving it? You only get little fame, the school behind you receives everything else.”(Lidus)
Stupid rules.
“Why would anyone compete when the only thing they gain is fame?”(Me)
“Mostly because of pride and honour.”(Lidus)
“Sigh. Humans are a really stupid race.”(Me)
“Most humans are yes, but there are special individuals.”(Lidus)
“Not many though. By the way how could that tournament even be connected with the recent incident?”(Me)
“Huh? Ah. That’s a secret sorry. Just know that humans and beastmen have a history filled with conflicts and battles.”(Lidus)
“First you bait me in and now you won’t even tell me why?”
“I assume you have more or less recovered, I’ll carry you back to Sir Armstrong now. Even if you can’t participate in today’s lesson, you will be at least able to learn a few things from his lessons, student.”(Lidus)
Without waiting for my reply he did so. I silently accepted what he told me, because even if he hid some things from me, it wasn’t like he knew anything about me and I could understand him not playing all his cards from the start.
The remaining lesson, I just sat quietly next to Lidus and watched the other train. As he said, I learned quite a lot moves to dodge, attack, defend, etc. with only using my physical body.
This freak definitely trained a lot to get such a strong body.
I could only be in awe. First his training method was really harsh, but at the same time it was more efficient than every way I could think off.
“To be able to move like that, I wonder how often he got broken.”(Me)
I jokingly said to Lidus.
“Pray that he doesn’t hear you. His punishments are even worse than his training methods.”(Lidus)
“Hahaha.”(Me)
When the training ended, I was more or less able to walk again and went back to my room. With that, the 5th day of my school life was over. I said 1 last sentence before falling asleep.
“This will get interesting.”(Me)
