《Life of the dark god》Chapter 17 Royalty

“You may rise.”(Sam)
We stood up and I checked him. He was a lion beastman with bright yellow-brown fur, almost gold. He wasn’t that big for a beastman, standing probably only 1, 90 m tall, but he had quite the sharp look. I looked into his golden deep eyes and I felt like he could see through me.
It felt like he could see every secret with his gaze alone about me. It was really uncomfortable so I tried to look or move away but it didn’t work. First it was only a second but they got longer 2, 3, 4 and 5 I was unable to move. When I felt that he would see my inner darkness, the black sphere vibrated in my mind. When it did I could finally move again.
“Sigh” (Me)
I let out a sigh and Kylie, who didn’t know what happened looked at me in an awkward way. When I focused back on the King he was on one knee and was in pain. It was more of a mental pain than a physical. Then I realised that the cause was my black sphere.
After a few seconds the King was back to normal but he refrained from using that strange eye.
“I am sorry that I have tested you. It seems like something in you really detested my analyse magic. I hope you may forgive me for my rudeness.”(Sam)
I forgave him because, man he was the king. I couldn’t not forgive him or I’d be the enemy of all beastmen and I am not that strong yet. Kylie who just realised what happened looked at me with a stupid and innocent expression like she had no idea what we were talking about.
“I invited you for 2 reasons. The first is to ask you if you are interested in working for me. The second is a simple talk between us two. If possible, I would like to have your answer and the talk at today’s dinner because I am very busy at the moment. I will assign a maid to you and she will guide you around.”(Sam)

With that he turned around and left the hall. I didn’t have any time to reply to him so all I could do was stand there and look at him leaving. I would never work for someone so my reply for his question was already clear.
Shortly after we were introduced to a little maid that looked similar to Kylie. She had black cat ears and a black tail. It was really hard to tell those two apart. Before we could roam around freely in the castle we were shown to our rooms. The castle was really big and probably over 300 people could live there.
Our rooms looked exactly the same, equipped with a large bed, a wardrobe and a set of a desk and chair. It was not really somewhere I would want to live but our stay wouldn’t be that long so I didn’t care. I had some things I wanted to do in the castle because I had the opportunity to do so.
First, I wanted to visit the library. Unfortunately I would need a permission from a royalty to visit the royal library. To my bad luck, the king was busy, his wife passed away, his son was away on a mission, while his daughter was visiting a friend. So for now, no entrance to the library.
I wanted to train with the guards and knights. But again my bad luck. Only beastmen, loyal to the king are allowed to the train in the special technique of the beastmen. I wasn’t even allowed to watch from afar. For now, no chance to have a physical fight.
I wanted to train with magic. Guess what. The fucking castle was surrounded by an anti-magic circle so I couldn’t use magic. The question I asked myself though was, how the king could use his analyse magic. But he was too busy to answer and I bet he had no minion who would tell me.

So, first no books, second no chance for gaining fighting experience, and lastly no magic. I had a really bad day until then. What were my options to kill time till dinner? After I finished the tour through the whole castle, which was also boring, I sat down in my room and meditated. Actually there were some rooms I wanted to go into but, again I would need permission. I was so bored I almost died but Kylie told me some stories before I did. She probably understood my situation and had mercy on me.
“Now that I think about it wasn’t your mission also to visit the guild master?”(Kylie)
“Yeah you are right but it’s probably too late for that now.”(Me)
Just when I finished my sentence, the maid knocked at the door.
“Sir Darkness and Companion, dinner is ready. Please follow me to the dining hall.”(Maid)
“Why am I always only the Companion?”(Kylie)
She was really displeased with how things turned out and I had a hard time to keep my laughing to a minimum.
“Don’t worry it doesn’t matter. By the way if you are unsatisfied just tell them I am sure they will understand.”(Me)
“Mmh.”(Kylie)
I didn’t know if that was a yes or just a reply showing me that she was annoyed but I told her my opinion and she had to solve it herself.
The maid guided us to a huge hall with a round table. Seated in the finest chair was obviously Sam Lionheart the king of the beastmen. To his right was an old man I hadn’t seen before. His left seat was empty and a lot of other seats around the table were taken. A lot of the people present looked like veteran soldiers or experienced merchants. When I entered he winked me to his left side. As I saw that Kylie would have no seat for her, I demanded another chair from the maid for her.
Wait a second. Didn’t Sam say that he wanted to talk with me alone? With that the conversation on a hot topic started.

Tales of the Willful Autonomous Nanobot Generator
Due to over-engineering and poor parenting; a nanobot generator is sent into the wider universe, ready to solve any and all problems...though probably not the way that was intended, or even hoped for. This story is a first time attempt to use a literary device I came up with, where I use 4 randomly selected songs to write short stories. As such there really won't be any cohesive story thread between chapters. If this gets traction, the likelihood for reader polls to influence the next story are high.
