《Life of the dark god》Chapter 16 Capital

We were on our way to the capital Ragnar of the beastmen continent. We didn’t want to cause a commotion so we took an escort quest in a nearby town and went with a merchant. It had been silent and we had no bandits who would steal any merchandise. Probably because he had 2 wagons with 5 guards and 5 more adventurer to guard them.
In only 2 weeks we arrived at the capital. During that time I trained silently in the night but had no major breakthrough. Probably because I didn’t train seriously. I was really excited to visit the capital.
Kylie and I parted way with the merchant and his group and went in separately. As usual we paid the entrance fee. For Kylie it was 3 gold and for me 5. It was really expensive but with our last reward that much money was no problem at all.
Before we would go to the central district of the capital to go to the king we wanted to look around and enjoy the capital. The big attraction the Colosseum of Ragnar was a must for us. First we went shopping. I gave Kylie 1 black Gold Coin and we would meet each other at the entrance to the Colosseum.
She would probably buy lots of food and clothing with it. My goal was primarily books and weapons. I didn’t want armour because it would only hinder my agility. I walked through the streets and passed a lot of shops.
The capital was really big and so was their shopping area. It took me about 4 hours to go through the whole market. I only stopped at one shop to buy more paper though. For a capital they sold awfully few books.
I needed to ask a lot of time for directions to reach the Colosseum. When I looked around, I could see Kylie with a little bag around her waist. I went up to her and asked.

“What’s in there?”(Me)
“Secret. Can you store it for me please?”(Kylie)
“Is it not possible to carry it?”(Me)
“Just store it please.”(Kylie)
I sighed and put it away in the white space. Afterwards we paid a total of 4 gold for a day ticket for the Colosseum. It was a round building and inside were a lot of seats. They could probably hold more than 10.000 people. In the centre of it was a stage far below the seats. At the edge of the stage were a lot of iron doors.
A lot of beastmen were already seated and looked down on the stage.
“Welcome with me the current champion of the Colosseum of Ragnar. The man who barehanded beat 100 enemies in a battle royal. Dewolf!!!”(Announcer)
When he finished one of the iron doors opened and a big wolf beastman could be seen walking into the arena. Loud roars and applause echoed through the whole Colosseum.
“His name fits perfect right?”(Kylie)
She giggled and I just nodded. It was really the perfect name. He looked like a wild wolf standing on 2 legs. He had black fur and a muscular body. He jumped a bit and fought with air to warm up. After a short while the Announcer was heard again.
“He has only been in the arena for about 3 months but he hasn’t lost ever since then and now he is challenging the champion. In addition to his name he is a jack of all trades. He can use every kind of weapon as well as only his strength to beat an opponent. A loud applause for the challenger Jack!!!”(Announcer)
Same as with Dewolf, another iron door opened and Jack went out of it. The cheering was loud but not as loud as Dewolf’s. Jack looked more like a demi-human. He had brown dog ears and a brown tail. But races didn’t matter in the Colosseum.

“Let the fight begin!”(Announcer)
When he shouted that both fighters were storming at each other with a roar. They fought each other barehanded. Dewolf used his strength and speed while Jack focused on technique. He tried to make a counterattack every time Dewolf would attack. I was focusing with everything I could on their fight. In the end it came down to who would last longer and Jack would stand no chance in stamina nor endurance.
With wounds all over their bodies they fought. Both had blood flowing down everywhere but the crowd just cheered louder with every injury one of them would take. It looked like no one would surrender or fall back. Jack gave his best not to fall but it was for naught after he received a kick to his face. He flew a few meters and landed on the floor. He couldn’t stay up again and the winner was announced.
“And the winner of this exciting match is our champion Dewolf!!!”(Announcer)
It was a really good fight. I learned a lot of it, like how I could use my speed to my advantage or new techniques to bring the opponent off balance. Satisfied we left the Colosseum. We had some more time so Kylie suggested that we should go eat something before we visit the King. We went to the most expensive restaurant we could find and in the end we paid a high sum of 60 Gold Coins for our food.
After filling our bellies, we set for the centre of the capital. When we arrived I saw a huge castle and another big building right next to it. I focused my senses on the surroundings and could feel a gaze coming from the strange building.
“What’s that?”(Me)
I pointed in the direction the gaze came from and the person fled.
“It’s called school and young beastmen visit it regularly to learn and train. If you want to visit a school you should go to a human or demon school though, because they have much more knowledge. In this school you would probably only train physically and learn common sense.”(Kylie)
I looked at it for a bit and we went to the castle gate. We were here to visit the king and the adventurer guild master not to go to school. Before we arrived in front of the gate I went into [black form] and we handed the invitation to a guard who bowed and led us inside the castle.
The castle itself was huge. We were led into the throne hall. The king hasn’t arrived yet so I looked through the hall and it was decorated with a lot of gold. The throne was far above the ground. I wanted to look around the castle more but before I could do so, the king arrived and we had to knee. It was a common ritual that you had to knee before the king and we were no exception.
“Welcome to my castle adventurer Darkness and his companion. My name is Sam Lionheart, the king of the beastmen and I am happy that you accepted my sudden invitation.”(Sam)

The Hunt
Cecily's blade swung, hitting its mark as always. The man's arm fell to the cold grass of the prison with a familiar thud. He let out a blood curdling scream. A warning to the rest. Stay away, the Hunter is here. That's the name they'd given her, the Hunter. After she cut off the man who tried to rape hers masculinity, they stayed away. She'd made it clear anyone who tried to touch her would be hunted and slaughtered. Cecily kneeled down, pushing the man's face into the dirt so she could use his back as a seat while she trifled through his belongings. "You're hurting my ears," she told him, no remorse in her voice. "Quiet down before I really do kill you."The man but his lip, well aware that she wasn't lying. Sobs shook him, making for an uncomfortable seat. She, however, didn't particularly feel the beed to kill him. It happened, not often, but it did. "Oh, hush up," she hissed, taking out a bag of rations with her metal hand, "it doesn't hurt that bad."With her good, human hand, she dropped the plastic bag of food into her own bag. She pushed up, off the man back. As she was about to walk away, bag slung over her shoulder, brushing against her autumn colored braid, she turned back to him. "Consider yourself lucky," she said, no hatred in her voice, there never was. "Consider yourself lucky that you didn't do anything stupid. And even luckier if one of the scum bagged criminals in here feel a little light in their hearts and help you. Consider yourself luckier if you die there."With that, her old black and white Nike sneakers carried her off into the brush of the huge prison.
