《Life of the dark god》Chapter 7 Guild

We were at the entrance of Merrill town and our goal was the adventurer’s guild branch. I had high expectations and tried to think of how the system would work. I had a few ideas but I wanted to know it from the receptionist first hand.
Kylie and I went through the town and I noticed that it was a lot bigger than the village I was before. She showed me some shops were items she knew of got sold but we didn’t buy anything. Actually I wanted a sword when we went to the weapon shop but the price was really high.
We had only 4 Silver and 50 Copper Coins left and the sword would cost us 30 Silver Coins so I had to wait till I learned how to make them myself or till I had enough money. I would prefer the first option though because it would save me a lot of money.
After we were through a lot of shops we arrived at the central of the town where the Guild building was located. I have to say…
…I had my hopes up much too high. The building looked like every other normal house. There was only a shield with the word [Guild] on it.
“That is all?”(Me)
“Don’t worry, the Guild buildings in the cities are a lot bigger and eye catching. For now let’s just go inside, ok?”(Kylie)
I nodded and we entered. The inside looked like a bar of an inn with some counters on the left and a board with some papers on the right side. Yes I know now what an inn is. I had a short introduction earlier in the other parts of the town.
“Now is your opportunity to ask about everything you want to know about guilds. The person at the counter should be able to answer your questions.”(Kylie)
She pointed at the counter and I looked there. Behind the counter was a woman in her 20s, I’d guess. She had rabbit ears and noticed that we were looking (I was staring at her and drooling because I wanted answers to my questions) at her direction.

“Can I help you two kids? I haven’t seen you in this town before. Are you new by chance? Tell me if you need something, ok?”(Rabbit-woman)
Kylie noticed that I was drifting away. She hit me on my shoulder and answered for me.
“My friend here wanted to know about the basic guild system as well as the adventurer guild and wanted to register with it.”(Kylie)
“My my, aren’t you a bit too young to be an adventurer? Ah, never mind that.”(Rabbit-woman)
I came back to normal. After that short dialogue she started explaining. I listened to every single word and made sure to remember everything.
“As you may know, there are 3 different kinds of guild types. All 3 can be found all around the world. I think it is even the only thing every continent has in common. First the richest and the one with the most influence the merchant guild. Second the one everyone looks up to and wants to join, the mage guild. And last but not least, with the most members, the adventurer guild.”
She told us that she would only explain the adventurer guild system because she didn’t have the permission from her boss to tell about others but she said that the other two guilds had similar systems.
“Outside of towns and city walls you can encounter monsters, which also includes some wild animals as well as most types of beasts. Every type of monster has a different danger level because of the chaos and destruction their kind can produce. Going from the weakest F rank normal slime Monster to the strongest ever recorded SS Monster, a chaos dragon.”
Kylie than explained to me that even though dragons were an intelligent race there are some who would lose their mind and go berserk in order to gain power.
“Another thing you should be aware of is that Monsters are often more dangerous because they have various evolution levels and you never know when they will rank up. For example a goblin can evolve into a hobgoblin. No one knows why Monsters evolve but for further information on that you can buy the Monster guide from the Adventurer Guild.”

I will definitely buy this guide if I have the money and I will do my best to get to know the requirements for the evolutions. Wait, did she just say the last line on purpose?
“The higher the rank of a target you beat, the more money you can get from our guild if you bring us proof of your victory. Also for adventurers there is also a rank system. It goes from F to SSS. If you finish a quest or you achieve something extraordinary we will note it down and after some time you can raise your rank. Everyone who registers would start from rank F but if you are successful on, let’s say a B rank quest, you would be promoted to E rank instantly.”
But after that came something I really wanted to try at least once.
“Sometimes a dungeon or a new territory will appear because of the mana density at one place and if you can bring back for example the dungeon core you will get a lot more rewards than you would by simply finishing a quest. This also depends on the level it is categorized in. If you want to know more about dungeon please buy the dungeon guide from the adventurer guild.”
The last sentence she said with a smile. I already calmed down and put my poker face (normal face) with no emotion on again. She really did that on purpose. Now I know how they make money.
“How can I register with your guild?”(Me)
“You would have to pay a registration fee of 1 silver to register with us, after that we will conduct a short test to make you a guild card. Rest assured other people can’t use your personal card and would only see your name and race. If they wanted to get more information from you they would have to do it in another way.”(Rabbit-woman)
That’s a really convenient and save thing. I asked Kylie to give me 1 Silver coin and gave it to the woman. After that I followed her into a room behind the counter to do the test. Kylie had to wait outside.
When I entered the room I could see a small table with two chairs and a weird crystal ball on the table. I guess that will be used to test me.
“Please sit down and put your hand on this crystal ball. It will scan your level and produce your guild card. Don’t worry as I said before I would only be able to see your name and race nothing else.”(Rabbit-woman)
I nodded and put my right hand on it. The ball shone bright and when the light dissipated I was holding a card in my hand.

I looked at it. Isn’t this situation bad? If someone would see this card he or she would see my race. I needed to calm down. Inhale, exhale. No matter how I looked at it the information showed on this card was quite accurate.
I didn’t know what some of those things meant but I had someone who would hopefully explain everything in details sitting in front of me.
“I am sorry could you please explain me this card. There are some things that are really weird.”(Me)
I played the cute and innocent kid. It won’t work though because I showed no emotions when I said that.
“Sure. Is it ok for me to look at your card, so I can explain some things?”(Rabbit-Woman)
I nodded and held the card in front of her showing that she could take it. I was really nervous because I didn’t know how she would react when she would see my race.
But this never happened, because before she could take my card, a loud scream as well as a loud boom interrupted her and we went outside of the room to look for the cause.
