《Reverse Scale: Draconic Rebirth》Chapter 2: Wolfs and Lizards

I haven't even figured out how to use skills, yet I am thrown right into combat.
Oh god!
I duck down under the attacking wolf and roll to the side. The wolf snarls at me as I get up.
["YOU STUPID FUCK! I AM JUST TRYING TO SURVIVE!"]
I can barely keep up with the wolf's speed. Whenever I blink, I am in danger of dying.
The wolf snaps at me, but I somehow manage to dodge, but after a short extent, it manages to maul my arm with its huge fangs.
DANG, IT HURTS SO MUCH!
The pain residing in my head slowly turns into anger. I feel my blood dripping down my left arm. The rage dwells up even more as the wolf tries to rip off my flesh. Suddenly the skin on my arm turns black and scaly. The maw of the wolf has forcibly opened by the hard exterior of my arm, and its canines break.
This intense rage also fills my other hand and turns it into a black claw.
["YOU BASTARD!!!"]
With hatred-filled eyes, I smash my right fist against the head of the wolf. With a splattering sound, the wolf's head has been split open. I pully my red hand out of his brain mass and wipe the leftovers off on its fur. It seems like I just mastered my "Draconic Scales" -skill.
Oh, I am currently naked, so let's just use the fur to cover myself!
I extend my claws and begin cutting off the wolf's fur and cover myself. Since I am level I, this wolf shouldn't be high leveled, so I'd better not meet one.
Oh, right, I forgot to mention. My exp bar is almost filled, so this wolf gave me a lot of exp!

Ren continued to venture through the vast and lush plains of Ashor and defeated a multitude of wolves, which eventually granted him a level up. On his wolf-hunts, Ren also learned to control his other skills. At first, he had no problem with food since he ate the meat of the wolves or gathered fruits from trees, but eventually, there were no more wolves to hunt, and only fruits couldn't still his hunger.

After few days of near-starvation, Ren spotted a town on the horizon.
He dragged his tired and exhausted body to the border of the town, where he collapsed.
One of the guards spotted him while on patrol and brought him inside.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Man... I whited out again. Seems like my habit of whiting out continues even in this world...
[???: "Jill, you can't just bring a human into our village!"]
A man with a raspy voice. He seems like he's some elder or something.
[Jill?: "But Elder Mu, He was unconscious right outside the village wall, and besides, I don't feel the presence of a human from him! His presence resembles that of a dragon a lot more!"]
A pleasant smooth voice, probably a young woman.
[Mu: "Ah, He's woken up!"]
I open my eyes, and there they are. Lizardmen. Blue scales covering them. Instead of hair, they have majestic feather crowns, and their clothes look tribal.
[Jill: "Hey, do you remember anything? You looked pretty bad."]
Yep, you can definitely tell that she's a female. Her features are a lot slimmer and feminine.
[Huh?! Oh, that's right. I walked for days in search of people. But I couldn't find any, and then I found this village."]
Dude... what shampoo do you use for your feather?! Every model agency would hire this buff-looking lizard for his majestic feather crown.
[ Mu: "But what does a human so far into the plains?"]
Oh yeah! I according to this game interface, I am not a human anymore...
["I am no human though..."]
[Jill: "See? I told you so!"]
[Mu: "I see... Then I must apologize. My name Is Mu. The elder of this village. And this is Jill, one of our hunters."]
["Nice to meet you, the name's Ren."]

[Mu: "But still, it's very impressive for any kind of being to survive out here in your... current state..."]
["Oh, well... I just ate the wolves."]
[Jill: "So that's why we've spotted so few of them lately..."]
Really? To believe I could decimate an entire wolf population...
[Mu: "So then, if you aren't human, what race are you?"]
["I'm not entirely sure of that either, but if you can believe this status window, I should be a dragon..."]
[Jill: "But Elder, the only dragon in this region was the Dragon Emperor, but I heard he's been slain!"]
[Mu: "Yes, I also heard that Fafnir was slain... Peculiar, very peculiar..."]
["Oh, if that's the case... then this Fenrir might be my parent..."]
[Mu: "Okay... wait... WHAT!!!"]
["Yeah, next to my name, it says *son of Fanfnir* and it is true that I woke up next to a huge dragon-corpse."]
The elder began a maddening laugh which in retrospect is kind of understandable.
[Mu: "GUAHAHHAHAHAHA!!! To think I would meet the descendant of one of the most powerful beings to ever walk on Ashor!
Ren, please feel at home in this village. It would be my honor."
["Ehh? Alright... I'll take you up on that offer!"]
----------------------------------------------------------------------
And so Ren spent a few weeks at the village of the Lizardmen before a messenger would arrive...

Nora and the Search for Friendship
Ellie is excited to go to university and finally make friends after a difficult time at high school. However, she’s a little worried when the book club has her read a really awful historical-fantasy story about what sixteen-year-old Eleanor gets up to at a “prep school” for the children of nobility. Still, she’s hopeful since the other girls seem nice, and they surely want to make fun of the story, so she’s in high spirits on her way to the meeting. Then she dies. Eleanor de Kent, beloved second daughter of a duke, slowly comes to terms with her memories of her past life as Ellie—including that she’s apparently the lead character from that book. Her childhood has its ups and downs, and loneliness seems to be inescapable. Now sixteen years old and attending the very school from the book Ellie had read, can she finally escape her fate and make friends?

Khaldir's Observer
Markus Kuberski, a 21-year-old mechanical engineering student at the Vienna University of Technology and a weeb, is bored by life. He has no girlfriend he cannot meet up with his friends because there is another Covid-lockdown and getting a side-job is also unsuccessful. Therefore, he has started to write a web novel. “If I cannot be the main character with magical powers and a harem full of cute girls in real life then I will create my own universe and be its protagonist.” Although that has been his first thought, he neither dare to use himself as the main character’s template nor write a harem story. “I am not that desperate!” he muses to himself. Little does he know that he will get more than he asked for when a mighty existence becomes interested in his story and makes it a reality. Hello, this is my first attempt at creating something like a novel. English is also not my native language, so expect some grammar and punctuation issues. I am using Grammarly to help myself in this regard, but in some areas, the free app cannot correct everything. There is currently no fixed schedule, although I believe that two chapters per week should be reasonable. Depending on how much time I have, I can write more.

Flame Beneath The Snowfall
Alto is a world governed by Tones. Magic, as one might call it. Manifested through deep mental and physical conditioning, one can control the Tones in a way that is unique to them. The power to store items in gems, transfer life, affect a person's mind, and even the more primal abilities such as control of the elements. Those who have these supernatural abilities are called 'Vassals.' People that fully manifest their abilities are not as common as one might think, and not all Vassals acquire their ability through practice, given if conditions are met. In fact, those who had received much trauma manifest the Tones more frequently, albeit spontaneously. However, the rare kind of Vassals are those who manifest it from childhood. A gift, but not without its repercussions. Alto is stuck in a transitional era, where the line between modern and dated technology is blurred. One can travel to a city that has a tall skyline, bustling with people in sophisticated clothing, or a mere town governed by a lord, all the while riding on a powered vehicle. Cultures vary: Some turn to the more dated practices such as castes, others are more inclined to set equal footing on their people, led by nobility. Some are dedicated to become scholars, studying Alto's Tones, while others set foot on hunts, protecting lone towns from the creatures of some of the still-untamed lands. And the Vassals? Those willing are took under The Organization, an elusive group, its presence said to permeate all throughout Alto, taking care of Rogue Vassals that abuse their abilities and other businesses related to their side. But what is this story all about, you may ask? Well, set your sights on the upper portions of this huge landmass that is Alto. Yes, the 'whole' world is called Alto, but that is because the majority of the known people live on this large continent. Relieve yourself of the worrying tensions everywhere, and see the white snow. Trace the piercing mountaintops and focus your eyes between the valley. A town sits there. Mido. After realizing that the memories only left in his mind was the night of his town's imminent destruction in flames, a boy finds himself grasping for every fiber of his life as he lays down flat on the ground. Beneath him was soot mixed with the white snow. Fortunately, a group of investigators, who were supposed to answer their call for help, saved him from his sorry state. With a newfound second wind, but hampered by his loss of memory, he must solve his own case: Who had the audacity to set Mido, his town, aflame? Flame Beneath the Snowfall focuses on action, with a sense of adventure, but mostly the discovery of an outside world, and the protagonist's exposure to it. Add in a whisk of soft magical elements, and you get a story that I hope will be interesting to the readers. That is not to say that my work is without the sense of unnerving atmosphere, however. As a forewarning, there are elements of gore, horror, minor elements of mental trauma, etc. so it is not for all audiences. *The book is already completed. Although I have plans to continue the story (it would have to involve much larger scope in terms of world-building), I have yet to decide when to start the next entry.
