《Manablood Mellie》Chapter 18: Lich my ass

Upon her creation, Mary was a favorite of the lich. Elves were rare and her fire spells were entertaining. Arlich Shroder was a lonely man who had no talent for social graces. Due to Mary's elven heritage she maintained her beauty in death. Both these things pleased the man. He could have at least given her a shirt.
As Mary blended in and slid around her former undead companions, she tripped on a root from a tree, and they began to notice her one by one. A group of five Dumb Zombies, levels 10 to 12 immediately began shambling towards her. She began backpedaling, throwing weak fireballs as she dragged half the horde away from Mellie. The this wound up counterproductive because by doing this, she was accidentally trapping the Mellie at the entrance to the lichs lair.
Mellie shadowalked through the forest, zombies on her heels. She was surrounded on all sides. The fairy was throwing her water and nature at the horde with no visable progress. It restrained them and impaired them but they just kept coming. No matter which way she walked she was landing in a horde. She punched Dumb Zombie lvl 10 in the face and it caved in around her hand. +1 Strength! Level up! When her hand retracted, shattered bone and brain fragments covered it. When the body dropped, the horde frantically consumed it.
There was a stone mausoleum in the center of the horde and Mellie shut herself inside, throwing the latch across the doors. She turned around and focused on her surroundings. It was just an empty stone room with a casket. The caskets lid was askew and there was light shining from below. Mellie proceeded down the steps inside the casket, closing the lid behind her.
She descended the marble steps to a dirt tunnel. Luminescent Wonderbugs between level 1 and 3 ran across the walls, lighting the way to the double doors. Mellie looked at the fairy on her shoulder, took a deep breath and opened the double doors to a handsome young whitegrey skinned man, smiling at a desk like he was about to make a business deal. Mellie was astonished. She had no idea what was going on.
Alarich was seated, smiling at the prize that just walked through his door. All he wanted was a conversation, and if she was who he thought she was, his quest for completion was underway. The girl stumbled by the door, shocked at the man sitting at a desk in an office under a crypt. Mellie shrugged it off. Everything in this world was ridiculous.
Alrich Schroder Lich lvl 50
This man was well beyond her level capacity, and being entirely too friendly. He looked like the cat that got the cream and this unsettled her. She was trapped, outleveled and alone save the little creature slinging distraction spells as her aggressors. Mellie squared her shoulders, walked up to the desk and sat down in the chair across from his, waiting.

A minute later a zombi- no, a woman burst into the room. It was the same woman who had collapsed on the beach after eating her. She had tied her dark brown hair back with a torn piece of her now shorter skirt. Her bouncing breasts barely wrapped with a swatch of fabric ripped from that skirt. The Lichs' face shocked as he looked into her living eyes. His eyes traveled down her body, noticing the skin tone changes on the body of his former favorite.
Arlich Shroder finally realized what this magical fatechanger was. He stood from his seat, shock and glee bounding from his every action. Mellie jumped up and back as Arlich kneeled. "whoa there fella-" Mellie began as she saw him put his fist to his heart a way she had seen before and he began speaking. Polyglot lvl 7!
"For centuries we have waited for the Church of Darkness to return. My kind have all but died out, my savior. I am only but half a man without the lifesblood of your kind. The last Church of your people is in Eastern Nort in the Darkriver forest. My people sealed it for when yours returned. If you help complete me, I will pledge my loyalty and support in any of your upcoming battles" he breathed out, finally looking up at her waiting for an answer he had needed his whole life.
"Complete you? That seems like a lot of commitment for someone I don't know." She stated, wondering if she was understanding him.
He looked at her incredulously. " The lifesblood given to the church of darkness liches was stolen and destroyed by the kingdom. When my rebirth was scheduled the blood was all but gone, making the ceremony half complete. Help me complete the ceremony with but one drop of your blood and I will find a way to return the favor."
Mellie thought about what he said. One drop of blood for a favor? What other choice did she have. If he chose to lock her in a cage she would have to comply. If the zombies came and ate her she would hope to reform somehow out of the black void in one piece. She thought about her skills.

Mary hissed, "After what you made us into, and made us to, you dare to ask her for a favor? The Dumb Zombies could have torn her apart! Don't listen to this creep! He defiled my body!"
Arlich slowly stood to face her and reddened, "I didn't think you could have been reborn in this lifetime. I humbly apoligize for my actions, and hope some of your undead memories were pleasant", he half pushed looking up at her. "And if not for your undeath you would have never met the savior and have had a chance at new life." he concluded motioning to Mellie.
Mary huffed, crossing her arms under her huge breasts, causing one of them to slip free. Arlich drooled like a pervert as she slipped herself back in place, fuming. "You could have at least given me a shirt!" Mary chided. Arlich grinned.
Mellie, ignoring the bickering couple, walked over to one of the bookshelves, grabbed a knife and a glass and started filling the cup. "Can you forget we ever met? Tell no one of my existance." she reasoned. Arlich nodded solemnly. As she finished the lich stared, stumbled and fell to his knees.
"I, Arlich Schroder pledge my life and fealty to you. I vow to protect and serve you in this life and the next."
Mellie shrugged. "Can you get your zombies to leave me alone? Also, I need directions to that forest. Can I go now?"
Arlich stood and took the glass from Mellie, tears in his eyes. "You have saved my people again, my savior. I cannot repay you enough. I can send smart zombie escorts to the edge of the Darkriver forest from there follow the forest to the ruins. The church is by the mausoleum."
"Leave the Smart Zombies, I will protect her." Mary kneeled, copying the same vow the lich gave Mellie.
"I, Mary Pruitt pledge my life and fealty to you. I vow to protect and serve you in this life and the next." Mary swore, owing this woman her life. The explanation of her existance in the hands of this mysterious woman alone.
"Its just a little blood and you guys are signing over your lives. I don't need all this." She looked at Mary and Arlich "I just want peace." She exhaled.
+1 Intelligence!
"Then that's what we will give you." Concluded the lich as he guided her to the door. "If you ever need anything, follow the zombies and the liches will help." He handed her a large silver token with a rune on it. "This will help you speak to any liches to seek refuge. They may ask for a donation but they will not hurt you. Best of luck my Savior. Stay alive."
As Mellie and her fairy walked through the double doors, her heart hammering, she half expected the corridor to be full of snarling zombies. She was pleasantly surprised. She began walking down the corridor with Mary in tow.
"Maybe I should walk ahead? I know which way to go." Mary stated. Mellie nodded. "Yeah. Lets find you some clothes in town first." Mary shuddered, "Well at least he was attractive, and its not like I wasnt eating corpses for a month." She dry heaved for a while. When she stopped they proceeded to town and went into thr Fashion Boutique.
"Well youre back to yourself now, lets get you feeling like a new woman." Mellie smiled at her. The girls packed up some attractive sleveless shirts and skirts. Mellie didn't want to wear a skirt but they had no mens pants. She went into the house next to the boutique to root through dressers. She found a knife and some food before she came across the childrens corpses. She went back to the boutique and settled for a dark burgundy medievil dress. She may have willed bad people away, but that kind of evil she had never seen.
True to his word, the lich sent his zombies back through the dungeons to settle down. The man was sitting at his desk, staring at the beautiful liquid of life. He began rushing with it to his workshop to preserve it in stoppered vials. Many liches would awaken over the next decade.
Arlich sent a missive to the Necromancers guild about awakening their necromancer disciples with the manablood. He claimed to have discovered it in the dungeon he resided. It wasn't an unbelievable claim. Many liches found treasures in dungeons, often a little manablood. A horde like this was every necromancers dream. He was about to be a very popular and wealthy man. His list of experiments just tripled. His opportunities were endless. He would have whatever he wanted. Oh what a day this was for his people.
He finally began his completion ritual for the final time, tears in his eyes. After waiting centuries Arlich Schroder could finally feel taste and smell.... rot. Arlich should have appreciated his deficiences more before his rebirth. He laughed out loud nonetheless. He could feel again.
