《The Summon》Chapter 29 – A Dog Alone

Unknown
He waited.
But the one he waited for did not come. So he waited some more.
As it got dark, the woman who always gave him food called him inside. But he was waiting. So he refused to go inside.
But the woman did not relent. When he did not come, she took him inside, forcefully.
He whined, and she spoke to him. He did not understand the noise she made, but he could feel that she was sad as well.
He was allowed to sleep in the same bed as the woman. He was happy until he remembered that he did not come home.
The next morning, he woke up.
He saw that he was in the room where the woman normally slept.
But then he remembered that he did not come home. He was sad again instantly and began to whine again.
The woman woke up after this, and, after some angry noises, caressed him and spoke to him.
He stood up after a while and went to the door of his room.
He hit it with his paw and the woman came after him, spoke something in her sad voice and opened the door for him. He jumped through the room, to the bed of the one he is still waiting for, but he was not there.
He began to whine again and lied down on the bed, sad and angry.
How dare he to not come home? That should not be allowed.
His friend had been gone before for so long, but he had been at least in that strange and interesting place.
But now he was home, and he, who he had waited for, his friend, had gone to that strange place where he was not allowed to.
Where every one of the smaller members of his family went to, and often seemed to not like going to.

After he ate and drank, he only now realised how hungry and thirsty he had been, he lied down in the same place, where he had waited for his friend yesterday.
But he still had not come.
After he lied there for a while, before the others came home, the woman brought water and food outside and lied it down before him. When the others of his family, his pack, besides that older one, of course, came home, his dearest pack member still was not home.
Now he began worrying if he did not want him anymore. He began to whine again. The smallest member of his pack came to him and caressed him as he spoke softly, but with sadness to him. He could not understand anything, but he could appreciate it.
When the evening came, he, who he waited for, still was not there.
The next day, the same happened.
But, soon after the sun was at its highest point, some strange men came to his place. He did his duty as protector of the pack, but they were not deterred to invade his territory.
The woman came to him and greeted them. So they were friends. He waged his tail and jumped around them. One of the two stroked him on the head.
After a short while, he went back to the place where he had waited and still waits.

The Edgars
A serial killer is wreaking havoc in a small European village, and Charles Edgar believes his estranged brother to be the culprit. But little does he know that a much darker truth lies behind the bloodshed; one that will bring betrayal and destruction to the entire Edgar lineage. (This is a one-act play. A (beat) indicates a pause in the dialogue.) Also, please feel free to rip this story apart in the reviews (if you're so inclined). I really want to improve as a writer, so any criticisms are more than welcomed.

Everyone is a Superhero! Apart from me
Welcome to Loktharma, where everybody is a superhero from birth. That makes Eugene De Lavet the most special of them all. At eighteen years old, he still has no clue what his superpower is. Loktharma has never been a fair world. There are Worldbreakers who were born to brandish the power of the universe, warp time-space, destroy lands and continents. There are Craftmasters who control the elements and terrorize countries with their might and wits. There are Commoners who are only gifted with power for the finer arts, architecture, military arts, or small-scale elemental manipulation. Even in an unjust world like Loktharma, there is always one constant: everyone is assigned a Flair since birth; the power to do something extraordinary. And then there's Eugene. He's been running around in a secluded forest since birth, training and sparring his ass off. While he can wield a blade better than most at his age, he certainly can't throw a giant boulder using the power of his mind, or turn his skin into diamonds. He has no Flair, no purpose for leveling up his stats, and no idea why General Rizeni Baggardo keeps him confined inside a forest for eighteen years. At least until Lord Pyro—the Craftmaster of Tailiah—unleashes his fury on the forest, searching for a treasure Eugene doesn't even know exists. On a frantic escape for his life, Eugene starts to realize he was a part of something he's been completely oblivious to until now. Along with his companions, Melodi and Azra, he travels the land and unveils the secrets of the world. [The story will be told primarily through the lenses of three main characters, with occasional side character POV chapters. It also draws inspiration from Japanese shounen. So only proceed if you're cool with these aspects.]

Sod's Law (Dropped)
This fiction has been dropped, you're more than welcome to read it anyway (there is sort of an ending). But you have been warned... Sod's law is a more extreme version of Murphy's law. While Murphy's law says that anything that can go wrong, will go wrong (eventually), Sod's law requires that it always goes wrong with the worst possible outcome. For example, concepts such as "bad fortune will be tailored to the individual" and "good fortune will occur in spite of the individual's actions" are sometimes given as examples of Sod's law in action. This would broaden Sod's law to a general sense of being "mocked by fate". In these aspects it is similar to some definitions of irony, particularly the irony of fate. - Definitions of Sod's Law on Wikipedia. The protagonist, as many before them, and many who followed, thought they were just entering a VRMMORPG (Virtual Reality Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing-Game). Unbeknownst to them however, was a short paragraph in the Terms & Conditions, that, upon agreement, would actually transport them to a fantasy world, loosely based on the game they thought they were entering. - Something anyone could be forgiven for, no-one reads them after all. In this new world, they discover that people are born with “Traits”, a System recognised, ability, skill, or talent, that they are born with. Sod's Law was not a trait they, or anyone else for that matter, would want. Pure madness follows. Yup, this is about a character transferred to a fantasy game-world with the worst luck imaginable. This is my first fiction so I apologise for any grammar and spelling mistakes that may be made. Hopefully it is readable, and if so please tell me! But if it's not, also tell me, but in a constructive way if at all possible? Due to the nature of the “Trait” the story will be dark in places, with plenty of gore and profanity, hence the tags. There may also be scenes of a sexual nature, but nothing full on – sorry guys but you'll have to go elsewhere for that.
