《Sylph Resurgence》Book 2 Chapter 22: The Turmoil to Come

Armageddon's severed arm crashed heavily onto the ground, causing the ground to shake slightly. Merlin and the Round Table Knights braced themselves for the rapid regeneration of Armageddon's lost limb, however, to their surprise, that did not transpire.
Instead, the arm on the ground started giving birth to numerous, human-sized versions of Armageddon. The propagation was rapid, and within a minute, there was approximately hundreds of clones charging towards them.
Alderon shouted, "Lady Merlin! Krow, Sasha and I would handle the clones, you guys just focus on the original!" as the trio leapt to engage the enormous clone army. Merlin nodded and turned to face the still menacing monster before them.
The original growled deeply before swinging its right arm towards them, destroying everything in its path. Merlin and the remaining knights dispersed quickly and to their surprise, before Armageddon's arm could reach them, it split into several tendrils heading in 4 separate directions towards them.
Even though the 4 Cameronians could fend off their respective incoming attacks successfully, Merlin was concerned with Armageddon's growing intelligence. She believed that its choice of approach wasn't a fluke, but a keen observation of the effectiveness of its previous large-scaled attacks.
In fact, the choice of using its severed arm to spawn an army instead of regenerating its lost limb displayed its intent to 'divide and conquer'. Merlin concluded that destruction of the abomination is a must, before it becomes more intelligent and wreck havoc on the world.
Alderon, Sasha and Krow were facing the toughest battle of their lives as they were overwhelmed by Armageddon's clones that swarmed them from all directions. Even though these clones were physically weak and easily beaten, every time they cut one down, within a minute it would have fully regenerated, regardless of where they struck it.
As such, the trio felt a sense of hopelessness as they faced a never-ending horde of immortal soldiers. Sasha cried indignantly, "We can't keep this up for much longer! Their regeneration rates are just too ridiculous! We can't even destroy one, not to mention hundreds of them!" Even Alderon, the fittest among them, was beginning to feel fatigued as his mana armament was wearing off.
Krow quipped, "Regeneration has to begin from a source. If we can destroy the source, we might be able to defeat them!" Sasha snapped impatiently, "Where is this source then, you smarty pants!"
Ignoring Sasha's criticism, Krow yelled above the commotion, "I've got a hypothesis I would like to test! However, I'll need your help in isolating just one of them! Can you do that for me, Sasha?" The young woman sulked before she leapt into the air, entangling her strings to form a thicker one before shooting it towards one of the clones, wrapping the string tightly around its torso without cutting it.
Sasha cried, "Fetch! You don't have much time though!" as she flung one clone towards Krow in mid-air. Krow jumped swiftly into the air, avoiding the swarm attack by the clones as he flew towards the isolated clone. Clutching the hilt of his katana, he mumbled, "[Bestial Sword Style - Hummingbird]!" as his katana swiped furiously when drawn, producing innumerable slashes faster than the eye can track.
The clone immediately disintegrated before Krow, as he realised that within the clone was an extremely tiny green gem. Before the clone could gather itself and regenerate from the gem, Krow slashed the gem into half without hesitation, interrupting the regeneration as the clone was destroyed.
Sasha looked at Krow, bewildered as she stuttered, "Y-You actually managed to destroy one of them! However, that looked pretty exhausting, having to completely obliterate them to destroy the gem within them. Do you have a plan?"

Krow replied confidently, "Sasha, doesn't your [Weaver] allow you to produce a near limitless amount of fine strings that should be able to slice them all into mincemeat? Once we've completely destroyed their bodies, the source of their regenerative powers, those green gems, would have no place else to hide, leaving them susceptible to destruction by Alderon and me."
Sasha deliberated for a while as she decapitated an incoming clone, before remarking, "I'll need quite some time to prepare my ultimate execution technique, the [Microfiber Death-trap]. With such a large number of enemies, not to mention that they are spread all over the place, how do you expect me to ready the trap?"
Krow replied calmly, "That's not too difficult with my weapon, [Mugen] and their currently limited intelligence. Spread infinite illusions, [Mugen]!" Suddenly, a smokescreen exploded before the Cameronians and after the smokescreen had subsided, several doppelgangers of Krow, Sasha and Alderon were formed. The doppelgangers immediately engaged with Armageddon's clone army, as they drew the biological weapons away from the real Knights.
Alderon remarked, "You hardly use your weapon, so I nearly forgot that you had such an ability. To think that your mastery of [Mugen] has extended to creating clones of others as well, interesting."
Krow smiled, "Ha, I haven't been solely working on my sword techniques, I've been seeking to improve the use of the weapon entrusted to me. You guys impressed by how lifelike your doppelgangers are in terms of appearance and combat ability? I've been practising hard with my prowess of visualisation from my memories after all."
Alderon nodded in admiration while Sasha pouted, "Hey, if these guys are formed from your imagination, can't you make my clones a little taller? Or a little more curvaceous? Damn, they remind me of my imperfections!"
Krow stared at Sasha stupidly and replied, "If it doesn't look like you, won't you be standing out like a sore thumb now? These doppelgangers are meant to distract, not fulfil your wildest, unachievable fantasies. Now, focus on preparing your technique, I don't know when they would realise that these doppelgangers of us aren't real."
Sasha grumbled as she set about weaving her strings into a tight meshwork of fibres, slowly travelling one circle around the Armageddon clone army that were still being distracted by the intangible doppelgangers. As Sasha concentrated on her task, Krow advised, "Alderon, when Sasha springs her trap, we've got to destroy all those gems in one go, no second chances. You ready?"
Alderon nodded slightly as the 2 gathered all their remaining mana for one final attack. Before the Armageddon clones realised that the real Knights were standing outside, far away from them, Sasha had already trapped them within her dome of innumerable, criss-crossing strings.
Sasha cried as she tugged at her dome, "[Microfiber Death-trap]!" The dome suddenly shrank rapidly, slicing all the Armageddon clones within into innumerable, tiny shreds, revealing the gems within their bodies. Krow ordered, "Now!" as he swung his sword powerfully towards the gems.
"[Bestial Sword Style Secret Technique - Lion King Roar]!" Krow cried as a blast of condensed mana shot forth from his swing, breaking all the gems it came into contact with. Similarly, Alderon swung his axe with both hands with all his might, sending the largest shockwave he could ever produce as it ran through the remaining gems, shattering them into sparkly dust.
When the destruction was complete, Krow dispelled all his clones as he leaned against his sword. He gasped, "Whew…thank god those guys weren't smart enough to see through my guile. That was certainly exhausting. Good work, you guys."

Sasha proudly declared, "Of course, with me, the best among the 3 of us here, delivering an outstanding performance, we'll achieve success for sure! Hahaha!" as she patted her small chest. Alderon and Krow could only sigh in helplessness as they unanimously agreed to play along with Sasha's whims.
Krow suddenly remembered that Merlin and the other 3 Knights were still fighting the original Armageddon. As he looked up, he was horrified by the scene before him. The original Armageddon, despite missing a limb, was still dominating against the 4 strongest individuals of Cameron, as its arm had mutated into several tendrils that harassed them to no end.
To make matters worse, Armageddon's head had morphed to the extent that it now has multiple smaller mouths all over its head and neck, and from these mouths, several smaller, yet faster beams shot forth, desecrating the landscape. As a result of continuously receiving an endless bombardment of attacks from all directions, the 4 Sage tier Cameronians were visibly exhausted, their bodies covered in several small wounds.
To further aggravate the situation, Firen, Zexel and Cynthia had already activated their respective [Armed] states, however, even with the huge increase in power, Armageddon was still going strong.
Merlin thought as she wiped the blood off her lips, "Even with Sage tier attacks that could overcome its defence, we are still unable to land the decisive blow against this abomination. Is there simply no way to defeat this creature with its atrocious regeneration rates?"
Merlin's thoughts were disrupted when Armageddon shot a beam from one of its numerous mouths towards her. Merlin cursed herself for being distracted as it was too late to avoid the incoming attack.
Suddenly, a figure flew before her and deflected the beam away with a swing of his sword. It was Arthur, whose [Excalibur] was still in its [Armed] state. Arthur placed an assuring hand on Merlin's shoulder and said, "Regardless of how bleak the situation is, so long as we still have one ounce of strength within us, we'll fight to the bitter end to protect our loved ones in Cameron. Who's with me?"
Firen, Zexel and Cynthia, though exhausted, pumped their arms into the air to show their determination to carry on fighting. Krow swiftly rushed up to Merlin, panting, "My lady! There's a way to destroy this monster! As long as we can destroy the gem within it which is the source of its powers, we can shut this thing down for good! To achieve that, we need to destroy its body in one shot. It may be risky to pour all our mana into one attack, but it's the only chance we've got!"
Merlin nodded as she ordered, "Everyone, prepare your strongest attack, I've a way to combine all our strengths into one attack that would hopefully obliterate this monstrosity!" All 8 individuals started gathering the last vestiges of their mana as Merlin opened a single [Constellation Gate].
Firen began the assault, as he raised his sabre above his head with both hands, a huge plume of flames shooting forth from the blade before reshaping into a humongous blade of fire. Firen yelled, "[Ultimate Inferno]!" as he swung the blade of fire down, releasing a gigantic swath of intense flames into Merlin's [Constellation Gate].
Zexel was next, as he calmly performed a downward semicircular slash with his katana. "[Ultimate Cyclone]." Zexel mumbled as he conjured an enormous tornado that blew forward like a drill into the [Constellation Gate] as Merlin shifted it from person to person.
Cynthia brought down a rain of innumerable lightning bolts from the sky that amalgamated into one imposing pillar of lightning with her [Ultimate Maelstrom], the electric currents swiftly swallowed by the [Constellation Gate] it fell upon.
Sasha swiftly weaved a gigantic javelin made out of string and hurled it into the [Constellation Gate], as Alderon combined with Krow to launch their respective shockwaves into the straining portal.
Arthur asked worryingly, "There's already a huge amount of mana within your [Constellation Gate], can you manage?" Merlin, who winced slightly, panted, "Come, there's still 2 of us left. I can manage, don't worry."
Arthur aimed his blade at the hexagonal constellation before him and cried, "[Ultimate Nova]!" as a beam of light, far larger than his [Shining Nova Drive] earlier, shot forth into the awaiting gate.
Merlin appeared to be struggling as she was pushed beyond her limit, the volume of her [Constellation Gate] stretched far beyond its capacity. Merlin whispered weakly, "One…more…attack." as she raised her arms weakly and conjured a [Black Hole], the Sage tier Dark spell that threatens to swallow everything, sending it flying into her [Constellation Gate].
Merlin explained, "The [Black Hole] would absorb all the other attacks currently within my [Constellation Gate]. Even it isn't infinite, as it would certainly be stretched to the brink of breaking. When that happens, all the contents within the [Black Hole], which should have been mixed well by then, would be released in an extreme explosion, enhanced by the release of built-up pressure from a broken black hole."
Merlin then closed her [Constellation Gate], and before Armageddon could shoot all the beams from its various mouths which it had prepared while the Cameronians were focusing their attacks into the [Constellation Gate], Merlin quickly opened another [Constellation Gate] above Armageddon. From the [Constellation Gate] emerged a large solid black sphere which could be filled no more, Merlin's [Black Hole] spell from earlier.
When the sphere came into contact with Armageddon, the sphere cracked and shattered, resulting in a catastrophic explosion that blinded everyone present. Armageddon's armour was very robust, but against an attack of such vast magnitude, the armour only served to soften the effects of the explosion on the island, absorbing a majority of its power.
Nonetheless, the explosion was sufficient to rip Armageddon into shreds, as its gem became visible to all. Arthur quickly rushed forward as he stabbed [Excalibur] into the gem, before running down its surface to slice it in half, destroying it successfully as its regenerative capabilities were no more.
Arthur landed on the ground gently, as the 2 halves of the gigantic gem shattered upon crashing into the ground. All the Cameronians cheered when they realised that they had successfully destroyed Armageddon, protecting Cameron and the rest of the world from its devastation.
Meanwhile, Fujika was still duelling Sharkan, who seemed to be merely entertaining himself as he kept her occupied. Fujika screamed, "Alright, that's it! [Water Hydra Storm]!" as she conjured 3 water dragons that spun around each other before crashing towards Sharkan head-first. Sharkan jested, "Now that's more like it! You're really good, I'll give you that!"
To Fujika's surprise, Sharkan blocked her strongest spell with his mana-enhanced sword, the ground cracking under the weight of her attack. With a war cry, Sharkan slashed Fujika's spell into half, as the Water spell exploded into rain.
Now, it was Sharkan's turn to be surprised as Fujika was suddenly nowhere to be found. In an instant, Fujika appeared on Sharkan's left flank, catching him by surprise as she trapped him in her signature [Water Prison]. To play safe, Fujika reinforced the sphere with all her remaining mana, as she sought to drown Sharkan into submission.
To her horror, Sharkan appeared relaxed as he looked around, before turning back to her and grinning. Sharkan then used one hand to swing his sword at her, which Fujika instinctively felt was dangerous despite trapping him in her reinforced [Water Prison]. Fujika's instincts proved to be right, as Sharkan tore through her spell like paper and would've slashed her if not for her backward leap in the nick of time.
Sharkan stood tall and proud as he smiled, "I told you, miss. You can't beat me in my natural element. Since Armageddon is surprisingly destroyed and Terence the fool is dead, there's no longer any need for me to be here. You proved to be entertaining, but the next time we meet, I'll not hesitate to strike you down instantly with all my power. Until then, see ya! Shishishi…"
Sharkan then turned around and ran for the edge of the cliff, before diving into the sea. Fujika, after allowing reality to sink in, slumped to her knees as she shivered uncontrollably, for she knew the threat made by Sharkan was very real. She remained in a daze even after being picked by Arthur as Merlin transported all of them out of Blackrock Island, their mission a success.
"13, 14, 15…done! What a stupid obligation this is!" a young immature voice echoed. The voice belonged to a teenage boy who appeared to be in his early teens. He had messy red hair and was dressed in casual attire. In front of him was a stack of gold coins, 15 in total, placed atop a seal drawn with blood.
Suddenly, 6 holograms flickered into existence before the boy. One was solidly built and his silhouette resembled Amon, the Chaos General of Wrath. Another resembled an old man who was anything but frail as he sat lazily on his chair. The third individual was an extremely thin person, who looks as though he'd been starved for weeks. The fourth person was a woman with an extremely voluptuous and alluring figure, as she tried to emphasise her features even more by crossing her arms around her chest.
The fifth member was also a woman, but she appeared demure and shy, her hands placed together in front of her as she fidgeted nervously. The final individual was a rather tall man, with a trim and fit figure, as he carried an atmosphere of self-assurance with a commanding presence. This tall man asked the boy, staring at him with ice-cold eyes, "How're things going on your side, Jiro? Has the revival of Armageddon and the destruction of Cameron been a success?"
The teenage boy, Jiro, replied, "Argh…don't remind me. I wouldn't call it a complete failure for we have obtained some decent intelligence on the abilities of the top brass in Cameron. However, the reality is, Armageddon was surprisingly destroyed by elite Cameron personnel, who my lieutenant, Sharkan, would cover in the next meeting. Sigh…here I thought the destruction of Cameron would be easy…"
The tall man replied, "You can't live up to your namesake all the time, Jiro, or should I say, Greed? Patience is key to success. Continue your operations in Cameron, I await your good news when the kingdom of Cameron has fallen and their holy weapons destroyed. On the other hand, how are you faring on your end, Amon? Have you seized the World Class Weapon, [Catastrophe] from the so-called Green King, Warren Gaia?"
Amon replied with a tint of anger in his voice, "I apologise, Lucius, for the incompetence of my direct subordinates in this mission. Though I must commend a human for putting up such a powerful barrier to impede our progress. Nonetheless, I intend to intervene directly and we'll definitely get our hands on [Catastrophe]."
Jiro chuckled, "The strength of your A-Team is a testament of your own power and influence, Amon, hehehe." Amon roared furiously, "What's that supposed to mean, you darn greedy brat!"
The old man amidst the audience remarked wisely, "Jiro, of all people, you shouldn't criticise Amon when your men just failed their mission. Speaking of A-Team, wasn't Sharkan present there? He is, after all, the leader of your 'formidable' Beast Kings, the A-Team you're so proud of."
Jiro was about to rebuke when Lucius interrupted, "ENOUGH! We're brothers and sisters sharing the same noble cause! All of us should be paying attention to our respective areas of responsibility, and devote all our energy to achieving success instead of bickering here! If there're no other matters, I hereby conclude the meeting of the 7 Chaos Generals, I've got some matters to personally attend to."
The hologram of the tall man then flickered off, and the other 5 soon followed. Jiro muttered to himself, "Just you wait, Cameron. I'll show you the true meaning of fear and have all of you grovel powerlessly before me, Jiro of Greed!"

Magic-Farming
A thought experiment gone out of control, inspired by kosnik4's popular story, Magic-Smithing. What would life be like for someone else who was transported to the world inside Magic-Smithing? Someone who wasn't as prone to encounter incresasingly dangerous people, whose life was a little less chaotic? What if this person was content with a simple life of farming? Tending to the plants, sowing seeds, and reaping a great harvest at the end of the year. Of course, he's also a data scientist, so he can't help but squeeze out the maximum possible efficiency of his time and the potential of his attributes. Who doesn't make excel spreadsheets in their spare time? This is a slightly more "Slice of Life" esque version of kosnik4's story. Hopefully lighthearted, funny, and as enjoyable to read as it is thinking of increasingly ridiculous skill progressions. Thanks to kosnik4 and Magic-Smithing for providing fertile grounds for creativity to thrive. NOTE: THIS IS A FAN FICTION, AND ALL INTELLECTUAL RIGHTS BELONG TO KOSNIK4. I'm a patron of his story, and love reading about what happens next in his story. I've tried my best to be as accurate to his canon science as possible, though it's not 100% feasible. Afterall, the story isn't even done yet! My plan for the releases is to release a single chapter a day until 3/7, and then release 4 chapters a week on M, W, F, & Sat. P.S. If anyone can figure out what the EXACT formula for Level XP is, I'd love to hear it. I'm starting to doubt my math and excel capabilities. I have an equation that is fairly accurate and stays close to his values, but not exactly the same.

8 334Death of Humanity
I'm by no means a writter, I'm doing it purerly for relaxation and to keep myself busy. As a complete amateur please constructive critisim ONLY, I'm a bit of a perfectionist so i might die from too many negative comments :P lol. A certain sky captain gets involved with an illegitiment young princess of an alien race, conspiracies drive them together and his crew to uncover the dark secret behind the lost sector of their history. Will they fall into despair as everything is taken from them and is the little princess who she really says she is... Ps: It starts a bit slow, I felt compelled to start by building the world and characters without rushing into the action. Upload speed I'm thinking 1000 words a week ish until I get ahead and might do two extra uploads per week sitting at around 1-2 chapters a week. Enjoy :)
