《Path of the Lilies》47. Su Lian’s Hatred

Ye Jiao followed after her mother’s request and she hid herself in their bedroom. Her small body moved straight to the window as she pulled the curtain slightly. She was curious as to who could possibly bypass her small barrier of bugs.
Not long afterward, a woman came with several guards by her side. Her long dark yellow hair fluttered along with the wind. She was wearing a dark blue dress adorned with numerous accessories that signified her high position. Right now, her face that was covered with make up looked rather strained. Her eyebrows were furrowed deeply, but her face color remained normal because of the thick makeup.
“Ye. Ai. Xia,” the woman, Su Lian, Wei Shang’s legal wife and also the mother of Wei Cheng and Wei Mi, spat out Ye Ai Xia’s name per syllable. Her tone was deep and filled with hatred.
Ye Ai Xia arched her eyebrows. “What do you want, Su Lian? Are you missing me after not visiting my place for years?”
“Who would miss a rotten woman like you.”
“Oh? I’m flattered that a dignified and arrogant woman like you would still spare time to look at something rotten. I guess, your eyes must be really bad,” Ye Ai Xia shook her head lightly. In front of Su Lian, she would never spare this woman any glance.
She might be Wei Shang’s wife, but this woman didn’t really have anything good. She was lazy, depended on her family’s background to marry Wei Shang, and lastly, had zero knowledge and only knew how to use her fist rather than brain.
This kind of woman was exceptionally annoying.
Su Lian’s face darkened. There might be no apparent changes thanks to her thick makeup, but the atmosphere around her turned bad. “You should do something about the bugs on the way. They’re terribly disgusting just like you.”

“I’m too lazy,” Ye Ai Xia said nonchalantly. “I don’t even use the road. Why should I care about what’s there?”
“You!”
“What?”
“Insolent! You don’t even know how to take care of your house? What a good woman you are,” Su Lian controlled her anger and spat out.
Ye Ai Xia arched her eyebrows. “First of all, this is not my house. This is just a house that your dearest husband lends out to me. Secondly, why do you even come here when it’s clearly not the time to visit each other? Do you miss me so much?”
“Hmph! As if I’ll miss you,” Su Lian snorted angrily. She glanced to the guard, who gave a scroll to the woman. “I come here to deliver message from my husband. He asks you to come to the racing competition in two days.”
As she said that, she threw the scroll to Ye Ai Xia, who caught it with ease. Opening the scroll, her eyes narrowed at the seal at the bottom. It was the imperial family seal.
‘I see, so they want me to come this year.’
It was just a normal racing competition that they held every Summer Festival. Originally, they held the competition on water in other kingdoms, but in this kingdom, it was a simple race of circling the entire city outside. There will be trees marked to let them knew which ones they should pass and not.
The winner would get a prize from the Imperial family. Every year, the prize would be different, and they were unable to join in consecutive years. As Ye Ai Xia hadn’t joined for the past few years, she could join this year.
Normally, they would sign up by themselves if they wanted to join. However, there was also cases when the imperial family summoned them to join. Sometimes it was because the said person was remarkable or it could also because they wanted to humiliate them.

Ye Ai Xia clicked her tongue. It would be very bothersome.
“Then I’ll say thanks,” Ye Ai Xia rolled the parchment again. She looked at Su Lian once more for she felt that this woman hadn’t finished.
Indeed, Su Lian wouldn’t want to come here if she didn’t have to. However, Wei Shang asked her to come personally to deliver this message as the show of honor. No matter how much Su Lian didn’t want to do it, she couldn’t possibly reject Wei Shang’s order.
In this residence, his order is absolute.
She couldn’t reject, but she could use this time to her advantage. Su Lian smiled. “I have something that I want to do.”
As she said that, her disposition changed and the guard moved back several steps. Violent Eon Energy emerged from Su Lian’s body in that split second as the woman launched herself to Ye Ai Xia’s direction. Her fist, filled with Eon Energy, punched forward.
Bang!
Tep.
Ye Ai Xia swiftly evaded the attack. Looking at the cracked ground, she clicked her tongue. “You’re still as rough as ever, Ape Woman.”
“What in the world are you saying, you Slippery Eel,” Su Lian snorted. Her arm, which was usually covered by her clothes was visible when she punched out, showing her well-built muscle. If one didn’t know better, one would not think that this belonged to woman.
“At least, I look gentler than you,” Ye Ai Xia said nonchalantly.
Su Lian’s face darkened once again. Thanks to the art she practiced and the limit of her talent, she had to work harder to make her body stronger. As the result, she has more muscle than normal woman, which made her looked rather manly.
She hated it, so she always hid it under her long sleeves.
“You rotten b*tch!”
With that, Su Lian chased after Ye Ai Xia, throwing her fist here and there. Unfortunately, Ye Ai Xia had much higher speed and agility, allowing her to move around without restraint. Her gentle fighting skill made Su Lian looked like a brute.
From the window, Ye Jiao was watching their fight with astonishment. Her mother’s movements were so graceful that she felt her mother was dancing. Moving here and there along with the wind’s movement, Ye Ai Xia looked exceptional.
In her heart, now she had another idol that she wanted to pursue.
