《Path of the Lilies》42. Bugs, Insect, and Bugs Again

The next day, Ye Jiao headed to the garden in the backyard after breakfast with a bucket in her hand. Ye Ai Xia was busying herself with other things, so Ye Jiao was basically alone.
Looking at the numerous new plants, Ye Jiao was astonished. ‘Mom plants more flowers recently. This place is filled with them all.’
However, her task was not to enjoy the scenery.
Ye Jiao crouched down as her hand rummaged the leaves around here. There were a lot of insects around here; cricket, beetle, worm, centipede, and many others. Her small fingers captured them one by one and placed them inside the bucket. Thanks to her experience of gardening with her father, she didn’t really mind touching them.
Well, but if they crawled on her body, that would be a different story.
After one place, Ye Jiao moved to another and did the same thing. Her hand was busy collecting every insect she could find. There were a lot of them, filling the bucket until it was nearly full.
“Jiao’er, what are you doing?” Ye Ai Xia noticed that Ye Jiao hadn’t moved from the garden since morning, so she went to take a look. Her body froze when she saw the bucket filled with numerous insects. The memory of Ye Xiao scooping them up near her resurfaced.
“Ah, Mom,” Ye Jiao was startled to see Ye Ai Xia. Her eyes landed on the bucket beside her. She was planning on keeping this a secret from her mother, but the latter had found out even when she hadn’t done anything.
Ye Ai Xia pointed to the basket. “Jiao’er, tell me, why are you collecting them?”
She hoped that Ye Jiao didn’t like insect too. If she had to keep them inside her house, she would prefer building another room for Ye Jiao. She loved her daughter, but she doesn’t want to stay in the same place as those insects.

What if they crawl up to her bed when she was sleeping?
She quickly shook those thoughts from her mind as she focused on the young girl in front of her, hoping for an explanation.
“I’m thinking of putting them at the entrance of our residence. The one that’s directed to Wei Family,” Ye Jiao admitted. Her train of thoughts were simple: those young misses wouldn’t dare to step inside if they saw numerous insects. “I just want to make sure that the Wei won’t come to disturb us unless it’s necessary.”
Ye Ai Xia’s mind blanked for a moment. Her eyes stared at the bucket for a few seconds. Internally, she didn’t know whether to laugh or cry at her daughter’s little scheme. As a woman herself, she knew how much little girl hated insect, especially those coming from well off family.
Even though the boys didn’t necessarily hate them, if it was this much, they wouldn’t want to get close either. Those people had never even played in the dirt because they were young masters. Still, it was easy to kill those insects once they become Eon Energy Master because they could just deploy Eon Energy to squash them.
But the young masters in Wei Family haven’t grown up yet.
“You’re really a devious little girl,” Ye Ai Xia had to admit that she never thought of that before. In the first place, she wouldn’t have the courage to collect these many insects. She was not her brother.
Ye Jiao smirked. “Can I do it, Mom?”
“Sure, but I won’t help you.”
Hearing the firm tone Ye Ai Xia used, Ye Jiao knew that she wouldn’t be able to persuade her mother to come along with her to put the bugs and insects on the road.

“Ok, Mom.”
“You should finish your little plan before lunch. I want to see you clean after this, understand?”
“Yes, Mom,” Ye Jiao nodded her head repeatedly. “I won’t take long.”
The bucket size wouldn’t be enough if she wanted to put more insects anymore. It would be better if she just headed to the street right now and spread the bugs around.
After Ye Jiao had run off, Ye Ai Xia glanced to one direction. After her performance in front of Wei Shang, it seemed that the man had sent more powerful people to watch over her. Unfortunately, they were still not her match.
Swish!
Ye Ai Xia appeared in front of one of the men. The man was wearing green clothes, blending himself among the leaves as he watched over the two of them from afar. It was only a split second ago that Ye Ai Xia was still dozens of meters away from him, but this woman had suddenly appeared before him.
“You’re the new guard?” Ye Ai Xia asked in a menacing tone.
The man could feel cold sweat pouring down his back. He nodded his head repeatedly. “I’m here under General Wei’s order.”
“Good, then tell that man to stop worrying. If I want to get out, I’ll surely give him a head up with a personal visit,” Ye Ai Xia said coldly before disappearing once again, returning back to her garden in split second.
The guard could feel his heart was thumping madly because of fear. The movement that Ye Ai Xia showed him had told him their disparity in strength very clearly. He had heard that Ye Ai Xia specialized her training in speed, but this insane speed was clearly out of the norm. There was no way he could match her.
On the other hand, Ye Ai Xia was secretly adjusting her state. Even though that movement looked powerful, she was unable to do them continuously. It used up a lot of her Eon Energy just for a single movement.
‘Too weak and they’ll target me often. Too strong and they’ll wary of me.’
Ye Ai Xia sighed to herself as she calculated how much power she had to show to make sure that they wouldn’t treat her as a complete weakling. She didn’t want them to create trouble for her daughter in this place. But at the same time, he didn’t want them to see her as a threat and eliminated her first.
These two conflicting thoughts clashed with one another as Ye Ai Xia stayed silent in her place, contemplating what her next action would be.
‘Should I visit Jiao’er?’
On the second thought, she decided to not go. She didn’t want to see a lot of insects in the same place again. Just once in the past was already more than enough.
‘I’ll just prepare the food.’
