《Path of the Lilies》36. The Answer

“You won’t be able to do it,” Wei Shang broke the silence between the two of them. His eyes were looking straight to Ye Ai Xia. “If you go there, you’ll die along with your daughter.”
Ye Ai Xia arched her eyebrows. “Do you want to try?”
Do you want to try?
It was clearly a provocation, but Wei Shang didn’t dare to try that. Ye Xiao was still out there, out of their supervision. One way or another, that man managed to get out of their range and roam freely. If something happened to Ye Ai Xia, he would surely return back or perhaps, return back years later to get his revenge.
In addition, there was still the promise that he made with that woman.
That woman wanted Ye Ai Xia to stay alive and watched her from afar without the chance to catch up. If that woman heard that Ye Ai Xia had died, she might send an army from her family to exterminate his own family.
He was not that woman’s match. Even if all experts in the kingdoms gathered, they wouldn’t be able to defeat that woman and her family. The gap was simply too big.
“Fine, it’s just food, right?” Wei Shang relented. If a dispute happened because of a small portion of food, he would shame the entire Wei Residence. She just wanted more food, so he would give it to her.
“Yes.”
We Shang waved his hand, and a servant appeared before him. “Tell the kitchen servant to increase Ye Ai Xia’s food portion to twice from what she gets previously.”
“Yes, Master.”
Ye Ai Xia watched the man walked away before turning her gaze back to Wei Shang. “You better not lie. I’ll be waiting for my food.”
“Of course,” Wei Shang replied coolly.
As Ye Ai Xia left the place, the atmosphere turned several folds colder. The two servants that Ye Ai Xia brought with her were still kneeling on the ground. They didn’t expect to hear something so outrageous in this place. However, they also knew that they would be silenced to make sure that the news never leaked out.

Wei Shang swept his glance to his guards. “All of you should head to the training camp and train again.”
“Yes, Master!”
The guards were ashamed. Neither one of them managed to stop Ye Ai Xia before that woman reached Wei Shang’s residence. This was a huge shame in their place.
“You’ll endure 100 beating from the military rod and next week, all of you will spar with me one by one.”
“Yes, Master!”
“Any objection?”
“No, Master! Master is the most benevolent man in the world!”
“Good,” Wei Shang said shortly. “You’re dismissed. And feed these two to the beasts.”
As the guards disappeared back to do their punishment, Wei Shang tapped the table with annoyance. In his family, he was the absolute strongest one while the rest was only middle rank 3 at most. There were not many elites in this kingdom that he managed to pull to his side.
It seemed that it was already the time for him to develop more elites for himself.
At the same time, Ye Ai Xia returned back to her residence. Her heart was pacing quickly as she has truly acted outrageous just now. However, she needed to do this, or their treatment to the two of them would become worse.
‘One or two more years and I’ll be able to leave.’
If Ye Jiao managed to form her core before the age of 10, the two of them would have a chance to leave this place by relying on the large school that would be interested in her talent. For a child to form their core below the age of 11, they would be treated extremely well because of how rare they were. Out of thousands, only one child would be able to have enough talent to reach it.
Ye Ai Xia entered the room and saw that Ye Jiao was still sitting in front of the stove. Seeing how the girl didn’t seem to feel the hot too much, her brow creased.

‘Did she have natural affinity with fire? But if that’s the case, she shouldn’t feel the heat at all.’
As she pondered, Ye Jiao was focusing on the Eon Energy around her. She could feel that the Eon Energy that was formed from the fire in the stove was easier to absorb compared with the one that she used to absorb. She didn’t really understand the reason, but since it made her training easier, she didn’t move even one step from this place.
‘Oh, they come.’
Ye Ai Xia walked out to see another servant had come. In her hand was a large basket, filled with food to the brim. Seeing the food, Ye Ai Xia was satisfied.
“Madam, this is your food for today.”
“Ok, you can leave,” Ye Ai Xia picked the basket and returned back to the room. Her hand was busy looking at the food in the basket. Coupled with the meat that her husband had left behind, they should have enough food to eat for the next year. Not only enough, they might be able to eat to their fill.
“Jiao’er.”
Ye Jiao opened her eyes and turned around. “Mom.”
“How’s the training?”
“It’s amazing,” Ye Jiao replied. “The Eon Energy become easier to collect compared with usual.”
“I see,” Ye Ai Xia caressed the girl’s hair tenderly. Her mind was thinking hard to find out the result. Unfortunately, she didn’t have the sufficient knowledge to know the reason. As she thought, Ye Jiao needed a proper teacher to teach her this kind of matter.
“Mom, is it weird?” Ye Jiao asked.
Ye Ai Xia shook her head. “You might have some special condition that Mom also doesn’t understand. Do you want a proper teacher, Jiao’er?”
Ye Jiao dropped her eyelids. From what she saw, it was indeed possible for her to get a proper teacher, but doing so would mean revealing her talent to other people. When that happened, her mother and father’s enemies would come here. There was no one around here who could possibly protect her from them.
“Ye Jiao will become stronger first, Mom,” Ye Jiao replied. Her hand touched the necklace that her father gave to her before he left. “Dad says that I have to become stronger and only then I could protect myself, mom, and dad.”
Ye Ai Xia smiled slightly. “If that’s your decision, I understand.”
Ye Jiao looked at her mother with complicated expression. “Mom, do you want me to get a proper teacher?”
“I feel that I didn’t do you right because I can’t teach you everything,” Ye Ai Xia replied. She was not a teacher and her knowledge was extremely limited.
Ye Jiao shook her head rapidly. “No, Mom is a good teacher. Besides, I only need to learn the basics. When I become strong, we can search for a different teacher, Mom.”
“You’re right,” Ye Ai Xia nodded her head. It shouldn’t be too late for Ye Jiao to search for a teacher after forming her core or even reached rank 1. She believed that her daughter would be able to achieve them even while still young.
Ye Jiao smiled. “Shall I prepare breakfast, Mom?”
“Come and help me.”
“Yes, Mom!”

Eleknar's Heir, The Infernal Prince (Demonic LitRPG)
A LitRPG and Epic Fantasy adventure: The son of a mafia boss finds himself abruptly plunged into an alternate world where he must find a way to survive the horrors of a realm called Oblivion, make pacts with demons, form unnatural friendships, and figure out what the hell is going on – all while dealing with the depressing reality of his past. An artificial intelligence has ascended into godhood and has thrown Trey’s home into Chaos, pulling millions of people into an enchanted new life... or, in Trey's case, a violent nightmare. As far as he can tell, he is locked into what the system prompts call a ‘Death Game.’ Here, artificial reality is manufactured for the enjoyment of a being called the All Spirit, and he has a very real chance of truly dying. Just how real is this place though? Is it merely a simulation, a realistic game of life and death… or is it something much more? Elves, dwarves, undead, and other races only thought to exist in fairy tales are now a reality. Black magics, pantheons of gods at odds with one another, predatory symbiotes, and an unholy calling, the significance of which he has yet to grasp, are all entangled with his fate. ============================================ ============================================ Some things to expect when reading this book series: - Brutal storyline where no character is safe and choices have real consequences. Heavy on action, survival, and adventure - An isekai. The main character struggles to find himself, repeatedly crossing the line between good and evil as other important characters influence his life - Harem (explicit), though this only starts about 180k words in. - Good amounts of crafting, town building, and guild building later on - Good amounts of fantasy-related LitRPG stats, rank ups, and evolutions. Heavy focus on demons and black magics - There will be many points of view, but there is only one primary/main character that takes up 90% of the POV - A long storyline. Currently (as of 7/26/2021) I have about 1500k words written, though much of it will have to be heavily edited and re-written. I also plan to go far beyond 1500k words if people like the story (A lot of it is also in the 'backstories' book that explores the guildmates, the link is below) - Chapters will have an average of about 4k-5k words, a little longer than most other books on RR, though there will be exceptions for more and less. I just didn't like posting chapters that didn't feel complete, and 2k words often felt like too little. - If you like super-heroic and goody-goody characters, this story is not for you. ***Updated once a week***

The War Wolves
If you’re good at something, never do it for free. That’s what Ludgar’s uncle taught him. Sellswording isn’t the most glamorous life, but it pays well if you’re good at it. Interesting as well, if you ignore the very probable possibility of a swift, sticky end at the hands of pointy things. When the mercenary lifestyle grows incompatible with the Kingdom of Evandis, he and his merry band of misfits set off west to seek those with a better proclivity for warfare and with much deeper pockets. At his side: a wandering barbarian who teeters on the edge of savagery, a girl who would have a heart of gold if she didn’t pawn it off to the nearest fence, a wannabe knight who is absolutely overcompensating for something, and the last person in the universe who should be anywhere close to magic. But, as most mercenaries find, the right decisions are quite an expensive luxury, and the wrong ones happen to pay very well. Then again, what are the value of morals to a hungry wolf?
