《Path of the Lilies》19. Farewell

“Sheesh, do you have to beat me up on the day I’m going to go?” Ye Xiao asked. Ye Ai Xia finally stopped hitting him, but it didn’t mean that his body didn’t feel hurt. Thankfully, he has strong body, or he might have to delay his journey because of injury. It was also a good thing that Ye Ai Xia didn’t add Eon Energy to her slap since it caused more damages.
Ye Ai Xia harrumphed. “That’s for treating Jiao’er like a boy.”
Ye Xiao scratched his head. That was all he could teach Ye Jiao as he was not sure. Besides, Ye Jiao accepted them all without any complaint, so he thought that it would be fine.
“Dad, are you alright?”
“Don’t worry Jiao’er,” Ye Xiao laughed as he patted Ye Jiao’s head. “She’s just angry because I don’t teach you properly. With her, you have to learn a lot, alright?”
Ye Jiao nodded her head seriously. She would train even harder and become stronger to help out her father.
“Yes, Dad, Jiao’er promises.”
“Also, until you become strong enough, you have to stay low and endure. It’s not going to be easy, but Daddy believes that you can.”
Ye Jiao thought about the harsh treatment of the people in the city. After this, she had to face them alone without her father by her side to protect her anymore. It wouldn’t be easy for her, but she knew that she had to do it.
“Yes!”
Eyes full of determination, high fighting spirit, and the willingness to bear the hardship. Ye Ai Xia smiled as she watched her little daughter. This girl was truly similar, similar to her hot-blooded father in many ways.
But really, he should have taught her to be a little bit feminine.

Ye Xiao shifted his gaze to Ye Ai Xia. “Xia’er, I’m going.”
“En, be careful Xiao Ge.”
“I’ll be honest, this journey is not going to be easy,” Ye Xiao started. He knew that there were a lot of people who wanted him to die because of his past potential and achievement. Right now, he was still rather young, so they might set their eyes on him.
However, he would not back down just because of that.
“But I promise you that I’ll surely return back to the two of you and at that time, everything will be different,” Ye Xiao smiled. “I’ll take back everything that should have been mine and reach the greater heights.”’
“I believe you can do it, Xiao Ge.”
Ye Jiao watched the two of them stared at one another. Longing feeling and suppressed desire were apparent in their eyes. She knew that her father cared for her aunt very much, so the decision to leave this place so suddenly shouldn’t be easy.
“Take care, Xia’er and Jiao’er. I’ll be back.”
Ye Xiao gave a hug to the two of them before departing. He didn’t turn back anymore because he knew that the sight of Ye Ai Xia and Ye Jiao might waver his determination. Before he could take them out of this place, he would not return. He had to be strong.
Step by step, he left the place.
Ye Ai Xia watched her husband’s back as tears trickled down from the corner of her eyes. From the past until now, she always saw his back. Hopefully, he would return soon enough.
“Jiao’er.”
“Yes, Aunt Ai Xia?”
Ye Ai Xia pointed to the house. “This is going to be your house from now. It’s not much, but we can live sufficiently here.”

The Wei Family might will not give enough for two people to eat, though. She should find a way to search for additional food for the two of them.
“Aunt Ai Xia, this is a present from Dad,” Ye Jiao showed the bracelet that her father gave her not long ago. The content was only meat, but their size alone was enough to feed them for months. After that, they might need to find other ways to find meals to eat.
Ye Ai Xia took the bracelet. Her eyes widened when she saw the content. They were so many meats inside. As she had expected, that annoying man must have brought Ye Jiao to the forest to hunt. Really, he should learn how to treat children better.
They were not mature yet!
“Jiao’er, your father is really excessive,” Ye Ai Xia sighed. “But this is going to be enough for our meal for the next year. Can you clean meat and cook them?”
“I can,” Ye Jiao nodded her head with confidence.
Ye Ai Xia messed up Ye Jiao’s hair. “That’s good. I’ll be needing your assistance to help with cooking. For now, I want to hear what you have been doing with Xiao Ge, your father, for the past few months.”
As she said that, she used up her Eon Energy and made a barrier around the two of them. Compared with her brother, her Eon Energy was smaller in amount, so she could barely make barrier enough to not allow people hear their conversation at close distance.
“Dad allows me to watch him hunt the beasts,” Ye Jiao said excitedly. “When he’s fighting, he’s really cool. Within seconds, he can finish them so easily…”
Hearing the flood of praises from Ye Jiao’s mouth, Ye Ai Xia didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. In this little girl’s eyes, that man must have been the most powerful man in the world.
Ye Jiao recounted the hunt that she experienced with her father before reaching to the memories when they visited the stores.
“Dad brought me a pendant,” Ye Jiao took out the small pendant on her neck. At the point of it, it looked like a tear. “I’m the one choosing the color because it matches my eyes.”
Ye Ai Xia stared at the pendant for a few seconds. It was an item to hide one’s progress. Unless they were above rank 3, they wouldn’t be able to see her strength. It seemed that Ye Xiao had prepared the worst possible situation for the girl.
“Jiao’er, you should never take off the pendant, understand?”
Ye Jiao was surprised to hear the solemn tone. Before this, her father also warned her the same thing, so she nodded her head. “Yes, I’ll never take this off.”
“Good, now, let’s prepare the lunch.”
“Ok, Aunt Ai Xia.”
“You can continue the story too. I want to know more about Xiao Ge.”
Ye Jiao giggled as she recounted more stories of her father during the past few months.

Join him on his adventures as he must deal with menus, monsters, and mysteries in this litrpg fantasy. Thomas Goodwill was an average boy with an average life, all that changed when he woke up in a new reality. Now, out of his depth, damn near out of his mind, he must learn to survive in a game-like reality with no reloads, checkpoints, or save scumming. He does, however, have a drunk snake. Thank you for reading my first story, hopefully, the first of many to come. This will be my main story and is meant to help me practice and hone my skills as I slowly produce more complex ideas. It's a litrpg in which I want to only lightly focus on the mechanics as I don’t want to pad out the word count with math and number tables and while I want to add a few of my own twists here and there, overall I’m going to keep this story close to generic as possible so that I don't let my inexperience lead me into a corner. Thanks again to all willing to leave a review or some constructive criticism, without you I'd never improve. Unfortunately, Cover art is by me.
