《Path of the Lilies》8. Breakthrough

Ye Jiao smiled widely when she saw her father walking out of the building. After that annoying Wei brother and sister, she didn’t meet anyone who bothered her anymore.
“Daddy,” Ye Jiao ran to her father and hugged the latter.
Ye Xiao ruffled up his daughter’s hair. “Did you wait for long?”
“No, I didn’t. Are we going back now?”
“Not yet, there’s a place that I want to show you,” Ye Xiao replied. He took his daughter’s hand before guiding her to the other side of the school.
Ye Jiao watched her surrounding with curiosity. As classes have started, there weren’t any students around. She felt more at ease without anyone looking at her. Their gazes always looked extremely annoying in her opinion.
Behind the large building of the school, there was another smaller building. It was a round building with blue color on the outside. There was no window visible.
“It’s really big,” Ye Jiao murmured. Apparently, she was not used to see large buildings one after another. When they headed to the market, most of the buildings were only two floors. Some of them even just one, so tall building like this seemed unordinary for her.
Ye Xiao chuckled. “Let’s get in.”
Taking out the key he got from the principal, Ye Xiao unlocked the door. Pushing it lightly, he allowed Ye Jiao to come in first before he came inside and locked the door again. This place was not accessible for everyone, so he had to make sure that no one would come to disturb them.
Inside the building was a large machine in the middle with a pond surrounding it. Light shone from above, allowing them to see the room clearly. Aside from the blue-colored pond, there was nothing else around them.

Ye Jiao looked around in confusion. “What are we doing here, Dad?”
“Take a closer look at the pond.”
Ye Jiao didn’t understand, but she followed after her father’s instruction. Her small feet brought her to the pond. Upon looking at the pond, her eyes glimmered. It seemed as if the pond was not made of water. The surface was exceptionally clear and glittered under the light.
“It’s amazing,” Ye Jiao exclaimed excitedly. It was really beautiful.
Ye Xiao laughed. “The pond is filled with pure Eon Energy. Also, this room has the formation that will help you guide Eon Energy into your body.”
“Really? That’s really cool!”
“This is one of the best training places to train your Eon Energy,” Ye Xiao laughed. “Just sit down and try to absorb the Eon Energy like what I taught you, but don’t fall asleep again.”
“I’m not sleeping,” Ye Jiao pouted. Well, she might fall asleep because they were exceptionally warm and comfortable, but she didn’t want to admit it.
Ye Xiao arched his eyebrows. “Oh? Are you sure about that?”
“Uh…” Ye Jiao didn’t know what to reply.
“Come and try absorbing them. Even if you just get a little bit, it doesn’t matter,” Ye Xiao pointed to the pond as he played with the key. Come to think of it, the principal didn’t tell him to return the key back so quick, he might be able to use this place for a long time.
After all, students were not allowed to use this place when they had just started school.
“Okay, Dad,” Ye Jiao sat down near the pond and closed her eyes. Focusing her attention to her surrounding, she could ‘see’ the light around her. There were a lot of them, so much more compared with the forest. Slowly, she urged them to come to her.

The light started to move in her direction. This was far easier than what she had experienced before. It was no wonder that her father said this was one of the best places to train. The amount and speed far surpassed anything that she ever knew.
While Ye Jiao was sitting and training, Ye Xiao initiated his Eon Energy and walked to the pond. Without disturbing his daughter, he started to walk on top of the water. If Ye Jiao saw this, she would have exclaimed loudly and made a ruckus at how amazing her father is.
Ye Xiao walked straight to the machine in the middle. It was the one that produced Eon Energy, so the nearer they came to the machine, the more Eon Energy they could absorb.
‘I already have enough to break through, but I can always use it to strengthen my core further.’
With that in mind, Ye Xiao started to absorb the Eon Energy at a much faster rate. This place might have abundant Eon Energy, but for a rank 3 like Ye Xiao, he could absorb all of them within days because of his large pool and greater absorption ability.
Time passed swiftly.
The two of them didn’t move from their place at all. After an unknown amount of time, Ye Xiao opened his eyes. He could feel that his core has been strengthened further, but it would not really help him much. Among the rank 3, no one could possibly defeat him even before this.
‘Well, it’s better than nothing.’
Looking at his daughter, Ye Xiao’s eyes suddenly widened. He could see the Eon Energy moving at a fast rate into his daughter’s body. It was a scene he was familiar with because his teacher always praised him for his fast absorption rate.
Ye Jiao didn’t have any problem to absorb Eon Energy.
No, not only that, she was even faster than most children her age. Even him, the acclaimed genius in his youth, couldn’t compare with the speed Ye Jiao is showing right now.
That’s a trash?
If that’s a trash, then he must have been even worse than trash in his youth.
Ye Xiao laughed as tears streamed down from the corner of his eyes. His daughter is not a trash! She’s a genius!
He wanted to yell that sentence loudly to the world. The relief upon finding out that his daughter was talented must have greatly overwhelmed him.
‘It’s great, Jiao’er. It’s really great.’
As his tears dropped to the lake below him, the thin layer that blocked him all this time was shattered. The feeling he harnessed all this time was directed to his daughter. Because of his worry, he could never attempt to reach the higher rank and was stuck in rank 3.
Eon Energy spun around him in large number as they entered his body violently, filling his newly advanced core. Ye Xiao could feel that his body was brimming with newfound power along with sharpened sense. The world before him no longer looked the same as before.
‘So, this is rank 4.’
After staying in rank 3 for seven years, Ye Xiao finally advanced to rank 4.
