《The War of Two Kinds》Logbook #038 - The Safety

The sound of grumbling and grunts could be heard as an encased box made of fibreglass and bulletproof casings were latched upon it.
As small holes were carved in the glass with special high powered motor drivers, it gave as much breathing room for respiration for the creature resting in it. The creature is taller than the lasses surrounding the room yet still, standing on two feet like a human.
"Doctor, he has calmed down now. It seems the parasite that took over him seems to be rather symbiotic and doesn't seem to harm him and has not fully conquered him." A little short lass in a lab coat dressed in a black shirt underneath with glasses put on between her nose-head. Her hair was tied to a bun as it had layers of blonde and brown hair which gave a lovely scene of a sandy desert mixing with soil.
"Ahh, ahh... " The figure moaned as he watched the doctor and her little innocent partner watching him curiously with his every little twitch or grudge. "...."
As he turns his head left and right in the curiosity of the strange compartment he was in, he saw random people in yellow and white radiation suits made of strange plastics and holding tanks filled with oxygen and nitrogen for healthy breathing as soldiers who kept on guard of the doorways held onto their Bullpup Rifles as they wore black gas-masks of the F-Class which had special lenses to protect the eyes and hide it with special respirators that filtered the air specifically to avoid infection.
The main person in the room, the doctor who took care of the beast chewed on their pen as it buttons up its jacket. Watching through the figure's eyes closely, the doctor smiles as its feminine scent of lavender mixed with roselles excites the figure as it lingered through the few breathing holes like a moth to light.
"Thanks for the notes, Miss Para. I will take care of this, don't worry." As the doctor pulls off a wooden board clipped with documents of scribbles and strange sketching and calculations, she excuses her partner who walks away slowly towards the outside of the containment centre as she peeks a curious eye through the glass slits that slowly closed towards the figure.
"Mr William, it seems you are capable of verbal communication, is that correct?" The doctor curiously asked as she looks onto a few inked pages as she points the saliva filled and chewed cap of a pen towards the figure. "You may be infected, but it seems you hold some form of humanity."
The figure who was slumping towards the glass wall struggles to push themselves up before looking closely at the doctor's eyes as he nods very slowly as if his neck too stiff to be able to manoeuvre smoothly.
Opening his mouth, it seeped black liquid of infected dead blood as he tries to communicate with the doctor. "Y...yes...that-t is correct..."
As it responded to the doctor, the doctor happily getting her reply continued by asking a few questions which would interest both her theories and her targets of the procedure provided by both Continuum and the Government Officials that holds her a ticket of opportunity.
"Lovely, nice to meet you. I am Dr Walther. I was given charge by your general, Miss Ferdunov to take care of you and make sure you are safe as you help us as much as possible in a cure, is that fine?" As the doctor asks kindly, she snaps her blue shrivelled pen onto the metal shaft of the clipboard as she places it down onto her aluminium round table that always creaked when slightly nudged, irritating the sensitive ears of poor infected William.

"Yes... itch fine..." William basking in his new form in utmost grace of terror as he tried to smile as he watched the surrounding with his slightly blinded and messed up sight that converted natural colours to black and red. "Doctor...."
He muttered as he reaches his left hand towards the glass, feeling the coldness it gives out as the tanks under his containment seeped off gases which will help make William breathe easier.
"Yea, what is it, Mr William?" The doctor asked as she turns from her occupied table of important documents and utensils of sorts and looks at the curious lad.
"Are... my sisters, alright?" Referring to his comrades from Continuum and the general public as he spoke in his limited knowledge of speech. "Soldiers and.... guardian..." He starts coughing as he vomits fresh red blood onto the floor.
Due to the strange work of the compartment, the sensor from the bottom of the casing detected the liquid and started to suck up the blood into a strange flask. It made it easier work for the doctors there as the blood does not need to be extracted by hand or injections but rather by time spent.
"If you refer to your soldier buddies in Koln and your guardians, there are currently fine but they seem to be in a little trouble with the Axis troopers they stumbled onto." Dr Walther explained as she sips on her cup of coffee. "Your Guardian crystals weren't able to be extracted from your crystalline and hardened arms so we left that on you, no cases of infection among your two beings. But..."
William looks at her with his bloodshot eyes as he was curiously intrigued by the sudden pause that the doctor made. Tilting his head as he leaned in closer, he notices the doctor smiling a little as if interested in something. "...."
"....They are fine, no worries... it seems only their portable homes seem to be in containment from the infection. I'm a physicist but that seems quite a relief for the most part. No worries, with permission, they can come here and visit you if they so please."
Calming down the lad with very calming words, she toyed with him for a while as she listened to a conversation among the two radiated women who were writing down a thesis of what they found in the newly collected blood.
"No...signs of further infection, as if nullified or halted." The one donned in a yellow suit replied as she turns to the arrived doctor.
"Interesting, but other than that, his body vitals seem fine too. Other than just communication, it seems the infection is rather more on him than in him, the blood he excretes seems to be just an external output of the immense pressure pressed onto him." The other radiation suit replied as she hands over a sheet of paper to Dr Walther.
"Splendid work, but does he cause infection or carries the strain that can hurt us?" Dr Walther asks as she reads the paper that was given.
"No miss." The voice released out as the room became quiet again.
Only the sound of footsteps could be heard as a crank and a whirl of a metal wheel was sounded which released William from his entrapment.
"Doctor, what are you doing!?" The guards alerted asked her as they readied their rifles towards William, a little surprised from the sudden act.

"Relax soldiers, if the reports say he is fine, then he is fine. He isn't involved in infection so he must be just injured from the strange growths on him." The doctor says as she stands in front of the specimen she released.
William also confused, stood there as he watched the young woman in a white coat spreading her arms to protect him from weapons of arms. "Why are you freeing....me?" He asks verbally which struck the guards in surprise even further.
"Seems the reports are true then... you are not infected anymore medically so we are now making use of your new form to help out your 'friends'." The doctor cheekily answered as she turns and smiles at him.
"Doctor, you are seriously a madman...but well, do what you like, we are just tasked to guard the premise against critical escape not release." The guards shook their head as they pressed onto their walkie talkies and gave their report.
As a sound of static replies back the guards, simultaneously the holo-phone nearby the doctor's simple table lit up as it started to ring a muffled tone of an alarm clock of sorts.
The doctor reaching up to its plastic case taps a switch by its middle as a hologram pops up from the device, a feminine figure belonging to General Ferdunov, the current commander of Continuum UK.
"Oi, doctor, why have you denied orders and just let him go?" General Ferdunov a little busy preparing her soldiers and taking her urgent call, faces the camera as she adjusts her hair. "Wait, never mind, he is right next to you..."
William with his uninfected hand, acted somewhat normal and gave a gesturing but slow-wave to his leader. "High...." he muttered softly.
"Impressive, William, if you can respond to your General, care to work with us for a change?" Dr Walther excitedly squeaked as she pulls up her headphone and notifies her assistant to come in again.
"Ugh, boy, you look like shit. That's for sure, but tell me, are you feeling better now? We are still trying to hold off the infected in Germany's Base and then there's your platoon being a hostage in an embassy." With a steady and confident question, Ferdunov taps her holster before lowering her head and sprinting towards a rotor of a helicopter before climbing upon it and taking a look back at her phone. "Hello, can you hear me?!" She shouts in question.
"Yeah....yeah...." William mumbles as Ferdunov squeezes in the earpiece into her left ear tightly.
"It's that a yes?" She asks as she taps it a couple of times.
"Yes, yes, he said yes." Dr Walther squeezes into the microphone as she tries to avoid contact with Will, in his newly infected form.
"Right then. We are heading to the place my soldiers have been hostaged, you take care of him and if you want to, bring him here or search up the base of the Bio-Mother, we need to finish this once and for all, doctor." General Ferdunov replies as she sulks into the microphone and takes a stare towards the receiving screen.
"Alright, will do my best ma'am. Whatever Continuum says." Dr Walther replies kindly before saluting confidently as her partner tumbles in a little sporadic way.
Shuffling about before tumbling on the floor, only to be held on safety by the bare arms of Will, which still glowed slightly red and black from the infection growths.
Infection. Shit.
Her partner whispered before immediately pushing herself off from William and barely blushing. "Thanks...mister..." She bubbles about as she turns and looks at Doctor Walther. "Miss, Doctor. What's the hurry?"
"Ahh, good Miss Para, you are here. I have given some thought to it and I feel like you deserve a promotion. And it is... caretaker of our little experiment here named William." The doctor sarcastically calls out as she teased the blushing behaviour of the geeky Miss Para of her assistant.
"But, Miss!" The guards intervened as they pointed out his infection.
"Trust me, I know better than this. This is the only way to understand how this infection and how this male works. We need to know what will make them both tick. So, I will ship you and the specimen to the Ethiopian Embassy and you can use him as a bloodhound to save the soldiers there. Hear me, Miss Para? You will allow him to be as close to you for the sake of seeing how it will work out!"
"But, the bunker? The Bio-Mother... how are we going to solve that, Doctor?" Miss Para questions as she stutters her worries onto her senior in surprised shock. Hugging her clipboard tight as she keeps looking to and fro from her senior towards the specimen, William. She wondered if this was an opportunity or an experiment where she is being treated as a guinea pig.
"Stop worrying and do what I say... alright? Continuum will take care of that, just follow my orders. I will ask the guards to give you some supplies and shove them to you. I will also notify the Elder Guardians to keep an eye on Mr William here and guide us through your exploration. Just relax, take it easy."
As William watched the whole conversation in his half infected form, his blurriness falter as he realises his sight recovering from a strange mutation of his irises from the growths. Being able to see in colour again, he was curious to know quietly if his infection was slowly being absorbed by his partially immune body or some strange concoction of symbiotic relationship with the bio-mother has made him this way.
Still wondering if his sister and mother knew what happened to him, he prayed in his head and wished both the strange doctor and his new partner and as well as everyone else good luck as he listened in the orders of following this, Miss Para.
"Come on, follow me. Sir." She asks kindly as William looks at her slowly and stumbles along.
Shuffling his heavy infected arm on the ground, similar to a claw, he walks on threes as his human arm and leg staggered about with the growth.
As he breathed roughly and darkly, his half-torn uniform followed as it watched the rip and tear of the following journey.
