《An Enchanter's Tale》Chapter 31 – The Blooming Flower Cult

Elizabeth continues to sit, looking out of the carriage window. Where could my soulmate be? Siyu says he hasn’t seen any sign of him, but he’s awfully suspicious anytime I ask about it. Come to think of it, a lot of things he’s been doing has been pretty suspicious lately. Elizabeth thinks before looking over next to her at Siyu. He had his eyes closed and his arms crossed, seemingly asleep.
And what were those things he was saying about demons? Is he a demon-lover? Oh no! Elizabeth thinks before her eyes widen with anxiety. What if my soulmate is a demon!? What should I do!? Elizabeth thinks to herself before looking over to Frey. And what if it’s someone in this carriage? Maybe my soulmate is Frey and Siyu is just hiding it from me because he’s jealous and wants me all to himself? I am, after all, the most beautiful girl these two probably know. Elizabeth thinks, calming herself with thoughts of her beauty, before stopping once again. But what if it’s Siyu? She thinks, squinting her eyes and looking at him once again. Although he isn’t repulsive, he’s not the greatest looking of guys. But maybe he makes up for it in other areas… She thinks, her gaze lowering beneath Siyu’s crossed arms.
A short squeal escapes Elizabeth’s mouth, catching Frey’s attention. Elizabeth quickly covers her mouth and once again looks outside of the carriage window. What am I thinking? My soulmate is surely a rugged and muscular man, who can protect me and care for me. And he should at least be a master cultivator or a grandmaster cultivator; then he could surely– Another short cry escapes Elizabeth’s mouth.
Frey once again looks to Elizabeth. “Are you okay?” He asks with slight concern.
“I’m fine.” She says, before crossing her arms and looking outside the carriage to see at the scenery.

Colonel Reyle opens the door to see Frey, Elizabeth and Siyu waiting outside. There also appeared to be a ghost.
“Oy, what’s a ghost doing here? Don’t tell me the demon hunters are arresting ghosts now?” He asks, looking to Siyu.
“It somehow ended up that way. This is – what was your name again?” Siyu asks the ghost.
“My name is Zohr. Zohr Acore.” The apparition says with his eyes closed.
“That just rolls off the tongue, doesn’t it?” Colonel Reyle says, slightly amused, before looking to Siyu. “I received Frey’s report. You made a deal with this apparition?” He asks, his arms crossed.
“I simply asked him for his services. Nothing more.” Siyu says with a short bow.
“And why shouldn’t we just kill him?” Colonel Reyle asks with a smile.
“Does it really matter?” Siyu asks. “We can at least use him. A hell path cultivator would be useful to us.” He says, looking away.
“Hey, kid.” Colonel Reyle says with a commanding voice. “Look at me when I talk to you.” He says, slightly annoyed.
Siyu looks back with a bitter grin. “I apologize, sir.” He says.
“As you should. I’m not in the habit of employing ghosts. We’ll try it out for now, but watch your step. If you don’t know what you should do, there will naturally be someone to teach you. One way or another.” Commander Reyle says before handing Siyu a folder. “For now, your new mission. Look it over, get it done when you can, then come back. You know the drill.” Commander Reyle says before walking back to his office.
…
…
“He didn’t even look at us!” Elizabeth complains, her arms crossed in a huff of annoyance. “Since when did Siyu become our leader? He should at least acknowledge us!” She says in a peeved tone.

“Of course I’m the leader. I’m the smartest one here.” Siyu says, giving Elizabeth a slight nudge with his shoulder.
“Fuck you!” Elizabeth says, giving Siyu a shove. “If you weren’t useful for finding my soulmate, I’d really show you who’s boss.” She says with annoyance.
“Enough about that. What’s our next mission?” Frey asks, moving closer to Siyu.
Siyu hands him the folder and says, “See for yourself.”
Frey looks it over and starts to read the mission briefing, before looking back to Siyu. “We’re to infiltrate the Blooming Flower Cult?” Frey says giving Siyu a bitter smile.
“What’s the Blooming Flower Cult?” Elizabeth asks with a tilted head.
“Oh, those are your fellow sisters, Elizabeth. Practitioners of the Hell Path by Love designation. You’ll fit right in.” He says with an amused smile.

The Successor
The Immortal God Emperor is dead...yet his Successor will one day arise. The worlds had long moved on from the greatest Cultivator of all time. The things that had been achieved and the advances made in the Immortal God Emperor's absence were nothing to turn one's nose up at. And yet, something was always missing. Because Cultivators, no matter the goals they pursue, always bow to the greater power. They seek it, they covet it for themselves, and they serve it with reverence. Shan Kai Lan was born into such a world. Born to two herb farmers whose cultivation did not surpass the Foundation Realm, yet who loved their son more than anything. Kai Lan was a child blessed by the Spiritual Plain, far more gifted and more intelligent than others his age. Yet the more profound his achievements, the greater the likelihood that his happy, peaceful life would be trampled on by those who desired his potential for themselves. The question of Kai Lan's journey becomes not whether he will reach the highest peak of cultivation, but what he will be forced to do to keep his young Clan, and the happiness it provides, at peace.
