《A Sword Spirit's Journey in the Myriad Realms》Prologue

Prologue

Ray was an ordinary high school student that was bored about his life. He was 16 years old, a bit of an introvert, and he wanted to make more of his boring life. He was a guy who never had a girlfriend, and he never wanted one either. He was also someone who never had actual friends.

It wasn’t like he was actually bullied or something. If anything else, he might even welcome bullying as it may become a catalyst for him to grow. All his life, he didn’t experience any difficulties and all the finances he needed were taken care of by his parents.

It was such a peaceful and carefree life. However, Ray didn’t like that. He wanted more. He was a bit into the hyped anime series out there and the mainstream shounen were his kind of thing. And that was something he wanted too. He wanted hot-blooded fights, even though he wasn’t much a fighter, he wanted to push himself to his limits.

That was why Ray was almost sick of reality. He was living a monotone life of going to school, going home, sleep and repeat. Other than that was some entertainment like anime, manga and webnovels.

It was just that. Although he would occasionally stumble some bumps in life, it was far from he wanted.

Life was Ray’s living hell...until the day he got hit by a truck.

......Ray’s POV.....

Huh? I wonder what happened...

I feel like my body’s sinking... but where?...

I seem to recall I got hit by a truck. The impact sent me flying and I fell from a hundred feet tall cliff...

Then...am I dead?...

I see... So this must be the afterlife...

Then why is it so dark?...

I can’t see anything...

I can feel half of my body buried in something, but other than that, there’s only the feeling of sinking in a viscous liquid...

Maybe I’m going to hell?...

But I feel so relaxed...I don’t even feel any heat...

Huh?...I see...So that’s what it was...

A memory left inside my vessel, huh?...

So that means I reincarnated...

And so, from now on, it looks like I’ll be a sword.

Prologue Part 2

..... Third Person POV .....

In the Mystic Mountains of Heavenspring, a young cultivator walked as he trekked and searched the mountains. He was in his early 20s, with a handsome face, and he carried a sword in his waist.

He wore a silk robe with a purple lotus embroidered in it, which meant he was an inner disciple of Purple Lotus Sect. One of the most prestigious sect of the current era in the entirety of the Skyweave continent.

The young cultivator walked as he observed the surroundings. Perhaps it was to watch the sceneries, or perhaps to perceive signs of danger, or maybe he was trying to obtain enlightenment in this mountain rich is Spiritual Essence.

“I wonder, if I try to sit at the top of the mountain while being naked, would I attain enlightenment. I remember something like that happened to one of the ancestors.”

It seems gaining enlightenment was one of his reason for going on this mountain as he was thinking about something ridiculous. It was indeed true that an ancestor of the Purple Lotus Sect had attained enlightenment atop the mountain, but the ancestor wasn’t naked. The young cultivator simply remembered the vague history lesson while mistaking a joke from his classmate as a part of it.

After contemplating for a while, he finally decided. “Alright. If it is for the sake of my Dao of the Sword, I would even dance naked in front of the sect gates, much less simply sitting atop naked.”

The young cultivator was clenching his fist as he declared. It seems he was now hell bent on sitting atop naked.

And so, the young cultivator, without further ado, went straight to the top of the mountain as he formed a hand seal and cast the Sword Controlled Flight Spell.

WHIRRRRR....SHIIINNG!!

A whirring sound was emitted as he channelled his Spirit Qi into his sword and the sword flew out of its sheath. It then hovered in front of the young cultivator as it enlarged itself into several times it normal size. The young cultivator stepped on his sword as he then stood in it, and they flew to the direction of the mountain peak.

...

As the young cultivator flew, he suddenly lowered his altitude by a sharp margin as a giant hand, twice his size outstretched to catch the young cultivator. With the dive, he barely managed to avoid the hand, but another one came at an extremely quick speed and tried to grab the young cultivator again.

The young cultivator jumped from his sword as he then remotely controlled the sword to return to his feet and then kicked the sword again to gain extra speed to avoid yet another hand.

The young cultivator managed to fall into the ground as he landed on his feet while it created a large crack due to the height and momentum.

The young cultivator took a glance to identify its attackers, and with it, he confirmed.

“Mountain Yetis? I thought they only appear during winter. What are they doing here?”

Mountain Yetis were elemental beasts that only appeared during the winter season. They were beasts with rare dual Earth-Ice elements and were one of the most popular choices for beast tamers as they had strong physical body and strong elemental abilities. It was a beast that was not to be trifled with as they usually had the cultivation realms at Foundation Building Middle Stage.

And now such a beast, and three of them no less, appeared in the wrong season and was now the young cultivator’s enemies.

RROOOAARR!!

One of the Mountain Yetis roared as it prepared to attack but...

SHIIIING!!....THUD!

A sudden streak of light, along with a humming sound of steel passed by, and then the head of the Mountain Yeti who roared, fell to the ground.

“Now noisy. Were Mountain Yetis this fond of shouting? I thought they were more fond of ambushing their prey. Well, too bad you picked the wrong ‘prey’ in this hunt. Apologies, but...”

The young cultivator spoke as returned the sword in to his hand. And then he pointed it to the remaining two as he then continued.

“For the sake of my Dao of the Sword, you shall be my stepping stones.”

Like a death sentence from the grim reaper, the Mountain Yetis suddenly felt tremendous killing intent wash over them as they instinctively ran in fear. They were attacking the seemingly harmless human before, but only now did they knew that they picked the wrong opponent.

The young cultivator dashed forward as his sword let out a blinding light that to cut even space itself. He then suddenly accelerated as he vanished as he dashed, and then...

SLASH!!!

The Mountain Yetis were cleanly bisected into two.

...

CRACK...CRACK...CLANG!!

After a few moments after the battle, the sword that the young cultivator held suddenly cracked, and then broke into fine dust. It was undoubtedly a good weapon as it could even cut through steel. However...

“As expected, it broke too. It couldn’t even withstand a tenth of my Sword Will. Haaah~...is there even a sword that could withstand the Heavenly Void Divine Sword Art?”

If there was anyone who heard the young cultivator just now, they would either laugh at him, or kill him if they could this instant. The Heavenly Void Divine Sword Art was the sword art that was created and perfected by the Primordial Sword God right before he transcended the Heavenly Dao.

It was said that the sword art was the most perfected art in the entire universe as it could even cut through Heavenly Dao itself when cultivated to perfection. And it was the same art that the Primordial Sword God used to transcend the Heavenly Dao. It was a sword art that would be coveted no matter which corner of the universe, and yet, the young cultivator claims that he was cultivating such art.

However, it cannot be denied that the power of the sword strike earlier was far, far beyond that of a normal cultivator at the Foundation Building Early Stage was capable of. And to say that it was only tenth of it, then it might as well be true.

Anyway, true or not, the young cultivator, having lost his sword, was now incapable of flying. As such, he chose a more direct method.

“I really do not like it, but I seem to have no choice but to run.”

And so, he ran.

..... Ray’s POV .....

I wonder how much time have passed already...

10 Years?...

100?...

200?...

500?...

I don’t know...

I don’t remember...

In the first place, have I really lived my life as a human before?...

Or was that just a dream I made up as a semi-sentient sword?...

I don’t know...

And I don’t have any methods of finding out...

However, I’m not impatient...

I don’t feel impatience ever since I became a sword...

I’ve also forgotten what it feels to have emotions...

But as time passes, it becomes increasingly colder...

I wonder if it would fade when I give it enough time?...

Still, there’s nothing I can do anyway...

...

How much time passed again?...

I don’t know, I don’t count it anymore...

However, I seem to have gotten stronger, or perhaps more sensitive as I could ‘see’ anything within 2 meters around me...

Was it perhaps because of the strange relaxing energy in the air?...

Well, of that’s the case, I’ll try to absorb it from now on, there is nothing else to do anyway...

Even so, I don’t have ways on how to absorb it...

Well, I’ll just see if I can find a way around that...

...

I see...

So it is easier than I thought...

It seems that this energy is attracted by thoughts that align with nature, just like the Heaven and Earth Qi from those Xianxia novels I used to read...

Well, in that case, I’ll make a bunch of sentences, or ‘Cultivation Methods’ as I think it is...

Hehe, I wonder, am I having fun?...

I like this feeling, I should do this often...

...

After countless trial and error, I finally finished the ‘Cultivation Method’ I wanted...

It had the sentences of:

.

.

.

Before everything was formed, there was only Chaos.

From Chaos, Order was born, and thus became a Vessel.

From the Vessel, Chaos was divided into Yin and Yang.

From Yin and Yang, the Heaven and Earth formed along with the Elements.

From the elements, the soul was formed and thus came life.

And from life, intelligence formed and created will.

And from will, Qi was perceived and a Primal Will was formed to govern all who had a vessel for both Will and Qi.

It was the Heavenly Dao, and it belonged to Order.

.

.

.

Well, it was just mishmash of what I read in cultivation novels, but among the series I made, this was the most efficient...

I feel nice...

Is this accomplishment?...

I don’t know, but I like it...

Well, I guess I should start ‘Cultivating’...

...

I don’t know how much time passed again...

However, this time I had changes in me...

The 2 meter perception radius had increases to 5...

This is nice...

...

Hm?...

It looks like I lost myself in ‘cultivation’...

However, I can now vaguely feel time...

And I can tell that a lot of time passes again...

Something close to...500 years?...

Well, it doesn’t matter...

I’m a sword now... I don’t need time...

But...

It would be nice to be human again...

I wanna experience those emotions I once had...

I wanna feel that ‘thrill’ and ‘hype’ as I remember...

But for now, I can only cultivate...

...

After another long time of cultivation, I once again woke up. This time, I was now capable of thinking of long and complex sentences. Perhaps I was right, the more an object absorbs Qi, the more sentient it becomes.

I can now notice anything in a radius of 50 meters, and can instantly process any movements I detect. I also feel a lot sharper, another part about me that I failed to notice before.

However, I still can’t do anything. That’s why I cultivated again.

Until the time I finally become capable of doing something other than cultivation.

...

Hm? I see, I woke up after a long period of cultivation, huh?

It seems I cultivated for about...5000 years? If this was Earth, perhaps I would have been blown to dust by a nuclear weapon now. And this much time would have been impossible for me to imagine if I was still human. I guess being a sentient sword has its own merits.

But still, it seems I wasn’t awakened naturally as there seems to be a disturbance above.

Let me check...

I see, so someone was fighting three gorilla like creatures, huh? I wonder why I’m so calm? No, there’s no need to answer as I already know. It’s because I don’t have emotions anymore, or at least time had washed it clean. That’s the only reason I could think of.

But that person, he cut the gorilla(?) into two in a single slash and his sword broke...

Could this perhaps be a world of cultivation and immortals?

Anyway that human seems to be coming this way. The human moved atop the peak where I was buried, and then...

He took of all his clothes and sat naked...
