《Aliens.exe》Chapter 18 - Lucky Pup

“You're ok!” cried Captain Scheider.
“Er... what?!” replied a dazed looking Beagle.
“You're ok!” he repeated, beaming from ear to ear. “We noticed your ship spiralling out of control as soon as we stopped talking to you. We felt a bit guilty as we had obviously been distracting you, so we teleported you here. I hope that's ok?”
“I guess so...” stammered Officer Howler.
“We weren't sure if we'd got you in time,” continued Captain Scheider.
“It's true,” interrupted Corporal Jess Adams. “We really hoped so though, I wasn't looking forward to clearing up a bloody mess from the floor.” She smiled kindly, and Officer Howler returned a dry grimace to the joke.
“What happened?” he asked. “How did you do that?”
“Simple,” answered Captain Scheider. “As long as we have the co-ordinates, we can retrieve anything through teleportation.”
“We traced you following our conversation,” continued Jess “and you looked in trouble. We assumed it was our fault.”
“Well you did distract me a little,” admitted Officer Howler, “but I should probably have told you earlier.”
Officer Howler was a bit freaked out by the whole situation. Whilst he was definitely glad he wasn't dead, he would much rather be back at home. This place was weird. The people didn't even have slightly hairy faces and they definitely didn't have tails.
“Thanks for saving me and all that,” he said, “but can you send me back home? I've got a war to fight.”
“We can,” confirmed Captain Scheider. “But we've actually got a more important role for you in this war, should you choose to accept it.”
Officer Howler would have preferred to go back home, but he sensed that he might not have a choice in the matter. Besides, he did have a very strong sense of duty and if this was truly more important to the war then he supposed he had better do it.
Officer Howler nodded and Captain Scheider continued.
“The weather forecasters next door are in need of a pilot and you are the best one here. Officer Howler, you are going to Crawk.”

Metagame
Some people get a second chance, late in life, and jump on it. Other people are on their third before they turn twenty. One was given everything they wanted, and threw it away on principle. One earned their place, but could never afford to pay the price. One never failed, right up until it mattered. One encountered nothing but failure, instead helping others achieve success. One never believed themselves worthy. One is crushed by the past, afraid of what might repeat itself. And the last never had a goal to begin with. But while nobody cared and no one was watching, they each decided to carry on in their own ways, even when that made things worse- and they did, usually, get worse. Arrows Through Reality, often called Arrows or ATR, is the world's first full-immersion Virtual Reality game, a MOBA by Granduon incorporated that didn't blow its competition out of the water, but did provide a new entry point that had millions trying their new game. Two years later, the player base has only grown, and everybody knows the most effective tactics... but while a cutting-edge AI supposedly runs the game's balance, it hasn't patched anything a single time. Well, the most effective way to do anything is subjective, right?

Where Muses Go To Die
Crazy, messed-up, off-the-top-of-my-head writings, put here because submitting them one by one would take too long. So far there have been (7) fictions started, with no end in sight! If you like stories with a conclusion, you're going to hate this. However, if you like ongoing stories, you'll still hate it, because I'm an amateur writer with six months of experience of writing whenever I feel like it, and a habit of annoying the heck out of people. Because, when there's nothing left to say, there's always...TROLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLWARNING:Rating this mature for any/all future gore, violence, torture, that kinda stuff. Will update if I go beyond any of that. UPDATE: Starting cussing in #1, and probably others soon as well.:) UPDATE: #7 is all about suicide, so for all those who are offended by that stuff, you've been warned.

Sengoku Demon Chronicles
Sengoku-era Japan was already batshit crazy. Now it’s got demons. ~~~ Japan 1541-2. Miho, a young village guy [with a female name], is on the trail of his mysterious lost love when he unwittingly saves the life of Akira, a cynical ashigaru [low-level samurai]. By doing so, he incurs the wrath of a box demon who is way too petty to just let it go. After that, it’s mostly downhill. ~~~ Includes: purple mist demons, portals, Yuki Onna, other demons, warlords, ashigaru, a try-hard mage, an eight-tailed fox and an endless litany of pathological liars. Historically, it’s about as accurate as most Hollywood productions. Hopefully, a little better. ~~~ Note: due to having fewer followers than a no-touch, no-look sex cult, I'm taking a break from this for August/September. Will be back in October to finish off Volume 1 and start off Volume 2.
