Case File: The Tainted Nature.
10.20 P.M
Monday
Azy finally arrived at the police precinct. The building itself was wide, but not tall. It only has three floors, but it managed to contain a multitude of facilities. However, the PIED’s precinct cannot be accessed through the front entrance because it was built separately and underground from the head precinct.
There are two entrances to the PIED Precinct, the pedestrian access and the vehicle access which are located near the back of the main precinct. They also added a car park down there for visitors and workers.
However, to get into the car park, Azy needs to go through the checkpoint in the middle of the tunnel. Every vehicle needs to stop at the checkpoint, so the guard could inspect them for security reasons. Azy glanced at the four automated high-caliber cannons bolted to the ceiling. Those cannons can tear him apart in seconds.
“Hey, Azy. How’s the weekend?” asked the guard in a deep voice. Josiah, a big and muscular orc with a bald head and dark green skin. He is one of the calmest orcs Azy has ever met, but don’t be fooled by his chill demeanor. This man once stopped a moving train by himself and tore open a vault bank door with ease.
“It went pretty much the same for the last decade. Going to parties, fooling around with girls, and trying to get drunk. It doesn’t get better than this. Oh, I almost forgot. Here.” He took out a couple of bills and handed them to Josiah. “I can’t believe I lost that bet.”
“I told you, there’s no way your team is going to make it to the last round.”
“Yeah, yeah, yeah. I know. I need to go before the captain goes crazy again.”
“From what I heard she’s secretly in love with you. That’s why she kept calling you here every time you were on duty,” said Josiah with a smirk. He pressed a button and the gate opened.
“Her? I doubt it. If I ever step out of the line, she will not hesitate to throw me under the bus.” Azy waved at him before driving forward.
After arriving at the car park, he drove his car into his usual spot. He stopped the car and looked at his parking spot with wide eyes. Someone had taken his spot: a dull and gray Toyota Civic with a dented bumper and scratched side. The back seat was filled with stacked boxes and a gray ugly suit. Whoever the owner was, he or she had no care for styles or the finer things in life.
The car park actually has two sections. The first section was for civilians and the second section was for the employees. A person could tell the difference between the two of them by looking at the blue line drawn on the asphalt.
So, that wiped any ignorant civilian as a potential suspect, and to hold his hypothesis together, the civilian section has more empty parking spaces than the police section.
Moving on, everybody in the precinct has their spot. It had become a thing for years now, and his coworkers knew this spot was reserved for him because Azy had parked here from the day he first became an enforcer, and that was a long time ago. So, it ruled out his coworker.
He groaned because not only did he doesn’t have time to deal with this, he needed to go see the captain. Reluctantly, he took the spot right next to the Toyota and went inside the precinct. After stepping into the lobby, Azy was bombarded with the noise of people groaning, talking, and yelling.

The night shift in the human precinct was peaceful because everyone had gone to sleep, but for the PIED precinct, it became lively because most paranormal species woke up when the sun went down.
Azy made his way to the reception desk. The mood he had immediately shot up to ten when he met with the lovable and always cheery, Felicia.
An innocent little imp with small horns and red skin. At the height of 5’3 inches, her shaggy brown hair complements her round face. Though most history books depicted them as literal little demons, they actually looked like humans, and this one, in particular, was adorable beyond belief.
She perked up and smiled brightly. “Azy!”
“Hey Felicia, how was your weekend?”
“My weekend was a blast. I finally solved that jigsaw puzzle you got me last week. I tell you what, it was the hardest one yet,” said Felicia with excitement.
“I’m glad to hear that. I got my eye on another one. Maybe we could solve it together.”
“Really? Azy, you’re the best! How about we solve it together this weekend?”
“It’s a date. Well, I better see the captain now.”
“Oh, wait, before you go, I’ve got several messages for you.” She opened her notebook and began reading them. “Sophia called: she asked if you’re free this weekend? If you are, she will get the honey ready.”
“Oh, that does sound nice, but I got a date with you. Can you please call her back, and tell her that I’m free next weekend?”
“Sure can do, Azy. Uhm, the next message was from Madelyn. She also asked if you’re free this weekend because she got some new toys arriving this week, and she said you would love it.” Felicia tilted her head and raised her eyebrows. “Toys? What kind of toys? Is it one of those spinning ones?”
“No, it’s a board game.” Azy grinned. “Tell her… I’m free next weekend. I’m sure I could squeeze her a day before Sophia.”
“No problem. The last one… hmm, she was cursing a lot and didn’t give me a name. She did say something about balls and ripping it out, then feeding it back to you. I don’t want to use any of those words because it sounds bad.” Felicia frowned.
“Ah, the medic. Sorry about that, Felicia. I’ll handle it. Just write down her number for me, and I’ll take it before I head out.”
“Okay, and that’s all of it. Oh, and I think there’s a new enforcer transfer into our precinct.”
Antonio, a human with brown skin paired with a goatee and a buzz cut walked into the precinct. He’s a straight-laced enforcer, but willing to bend a few rules for a good cause. He slapped Azy on the back. “Stop using Felicia as your personal assistant. She already has tons of work to do.”
“It’s okay. I like helping, Azy,” said Felicia with a bright and innocent smile.
“See, it’s not like I forced her.” Azy shrugged.
“Felicia, you’re too good for him. And besides, you're better off getting a man of your own and be done with his pale ass.” Antonio walked past the reception desk and entered the office space.
Azy immediately chased after him, dodging several other enforcers, and joined his side. The office space wasn’t as loud as the reception area. It mostly contained enforcers and authorized personnel, but it sure was busy. Some were taking witness accounts, while others were checking in a suspect, and many others.

“Antonio, just the human I want to see.”
Antonio clicked his tongues and groaned. “Before you ask for my favors, I need to know whether it’s going to get me in trouble or not. Because the last time I helped, you almost got me suspended for two weeks.”
“I can assure you this time, it’s nothing that bad. I need a bit of information about a group of poachers.”
Before Antonio could answer, someone shouted from the detention cell.
“Traitor!”
Azy rolled his eyes and sighed when he saw a Fresh Spawn in the cell. “Yeah, keep on saying that. See if I care.”
Fresh Spawn is what one might call a young vampire who hasn’t been undead for a decade. A vampire can tell whether he or she was a Fresh Spawn by their smell and attitude. They are loud, angry, naive, and prone to violence. It’s because they haven't gotten used to the demon inside them. Being a young vampire, it’s like being the city substation. Their bodies are always on all the time and filled with tons of energy with no outlets.
“I’ll cut to the chase. Do you know any group of poachers that use a twin-blade axe as their brand?”
Antonio took a moment of silence as he rubbed his chin. “I think I heard of them before, but I ain’t doing this for free because I got tons of work to do. Also, my partner won’t like it when she finds out I’m helping you.”
“Oh, come on. We had one bad date, that’s all,” huffed Azy.
“You better not say that to her face. And no, it wasn’t just a bad date, you forgot you had a date with her that night and didn’t show up. The next day, you treated her as if nothing happened, and that went on for a week until I pointed it out to you. That’s beyond cold.” Antonio shook his head.
“You’re right. I’m sorry I was a jerk.”
“I don’t need to hear that. She’s the one who needs to hear it. Also, did you take her parking spot? She wouldn’t like that.”
“I’ll talk to her, okay? Still, come on, help me with this.” Azy sincerely asked for Antonio’s help, and his friend could clearly see that.
“Fine, but you owe me. I mean seriously owe me. You will be buying me dinner for two weeks.”
“Thank you so much. You’re the man,” said Azy as he made his way to the captain’s office.
“You bet I am,” replied Antonio before taking a seat at his desk.
Azy cleaned up his suit and took a whiff of his scent. He then put on the most charming smile he had, then knocked on the door.
Captain Mary, to describe her perfectly: Azy would say that she’s like a storm, always in a state of furious anger and frustration.
Being the captain of the PIED was no easy task, above her, there are numerous people in charge she has to answer to. It’s not that different from a normal police captain, but if your job is dealing with things that scientifically don’t make sense, it’s hard to explain certain stuff or convince them to give you the resources you need to run the department.
A human woman clad in uniform. She was old enough to be called mature. Although she hasn’t reached the age where she has grays in her blond hair, she does have a few wrinkles on her peach-colored skin. Still, she was beautiful in her way, she had aged gracefully. Her job’s stress might not help with keeping her healthy, but she does a few workout sessions after work to maintain her lavish body.
Still haven’t heard an answer, Azy entered the office either way. “Captain Mary, you call for me?”
“Fuck. Fuck. Fuck. Fuck you! Fuck you in the ass. Fuck you in your mom’s ass.” She slammed the phone down against her desk.
“Did I come in at a bad time?”
“No, I was just talking to my sister.” She fixed her crooked tie and looked at Azy. “Close that door behind you and take a seat.”
Azy sauntered to the chair across her and brought his ass down on it. “Any problem, Captain?”
“Did you use our precinct numbers as your numbers again? Go get a phone and stop using Felicia as your personal assistant. She’s already busy as it is.”
“You know, I’m bad with new tech stuff. It kept changing and making it harder for me to follow. A phone used to be stationary. Now it doesn’t even have a button and can turn into a bloody camera. What’s next, it's going to bring me food?” Azy stood up and waved his hand to make a point.
The captain groaned. “It does that now.”
“Do what?”
“Bring you food. You can order it using a phone and someone will bring it to you.”
“Unbelievable.” Azy walked around her until he reached her back and placed his hands on her shoulders. He began to massage her shoulders and caused her to let out a moan. “You seem a bit frustrated. I know just a thing that could help you with that.”
Her scent was getting stronger, he felt her blood pumping faster. She was getting heated, especially around the area under her panties.
The captain was a frustrated woman, very frustrated, and not just because of her work. Two main contributors to her frustration were her ex-husband and her rebellious daughter. She was already swamped with her work and family troubles, she had no time to go out and vent her stress, so sometimes it got too overwhelming and made her a bit grumpy, to say the least.
A few months ago after her divorce, Azy had teased her so hard that one day she couldn’t take it anymore and ravaged him for herself, and after that, it’s all history. They’ve been doing it since then, sometimes five times a week.
“Azy… we can’t do it here.”
“What are you talking about? We've done it here so many times that I’ve lost count. Over there. On that sofa. Against that cabinet. On your desk. In that corner. The list goes on and on. And I know you want it.” Azy brought his lips closer to her ear. “I can smell it off you. So sweet and succulent,” purred Azy.
Azy bit her ear and caused her to moan. His hand unbuttoned her jacket while his other hand slipped underneath her shirt. She didn’t fight it, instead, she guided his hand to where she wanted it to be. Azy realized she wasn’t wearing a bra. “You’re a naughty one, aren't you? You’ve been expecting this.”
She moaned. “I… I forgot, okay?”
He squeezed and pinched, and worked those moans out of her. She was on a brink of ecstasy, but Azy wasn’t going to make it easy for her. He pulled away and turned her around on that swirly chair, so she could face him. He kneeled and pushed her tight skirt up to her waist.
With heavy breathing, she parted her legs for him. He unlatched the garter belt and pulled her turquoise-colored lace panty down while laying a few kisses up her inner thighs. Her full-blown slit was visible to him. She had trimmed her carpet into the shape of a heart, which surprised Azy a bit, but not an unpleasant one.
“When did you get that done?”
“Yesterday, do you like it?” A mischievous smirk grew on the Captain’s face.
“Baby, I love it.”
Azy’s lips made their way up, leaving a trail of kisses until he met her slit. He ran his tongue around it, but never close, he was teasing her, and he loved every second of it. He looked up and saw her biting her bottom lip, her eyes filled with anticipation and need. However, Mary wasn’t the type to stay quiet, when she got going, her demeanor changed.
She grabbed full of Azy’s hair and forced his lips against her slit. “Lick it!” She ordered and Azy followed.
“Deeper.”
“That’s it bitch. Made me wet.”
He dug his tongue deeper and caused her to moan. He twirled and thrashed it around, and when he found her sensitive spot, he worked on it, hard. Even her clit wasn’t spared from Azy’s skillful tongue. He sucked and dug as hard he could, edging her closer to climax. He felt it, the heat and blood flow getting stronger.
“More.” She ordered.
“Work it like how I like it.”
When Azy knew she was ready for her massive climax, he bared his fangs and bit her inner thigh. She felt it, a hard muffle moan escaped her, and out came the waterworks as she squeezed his head between her soft thighs. The captain was a squirter, so it came as no surprise when it happened.
A vampire bite isn’t just for sucking out blood, it also has a few properties that can make it addicting; the fangs secrete a type of strong aphrodisiac that can make the victim receive unimaginable pleasure instead of pain. An evolutionary trait to help with hunting. It drowns the victim in pleasure as the vampire feeds on them.
Her taste was strong, sweet, and aged like fine wine. He couldn’t get enough of it, but he had to stop before he overdid it, or she might die.
The captain released his head and leaned back against her chair, gasping for air. Azy pulled back with a grin, his face was drenched, but he licked his lips, savoring the taste. Her face was priceless, her murky eyes rolled back while her jaw slightly opened.
“Ready for round two?”
“Wait, we can’t... I’m sorry, I really want to, but there’s something else we need to talk about. That's why I ask you to come in.”
That was quite odd for Azy, she never says no to a second round. He chuckled. “What is it you want to talk about?”
“You have a new partner.”
He immediately stood with wide eyes. “No. Nope. Not happening. Hell no. Not in a hundred years. Not funny, Mary. Hahaha. No!”

A lot of new content has been added to the early chapters since the end of May. The first chapters are still under construction and editing, but all the major changes are done. I was a webnovel junkie for a long time, but I found it hard to find novels with solid characters, decent plot, philosophical underpinnings and a fully painted world to keep me going. I've taken from every genre I've liked to make a story that satisfies my own cravings for a good story. If you like the story or have suggestions please leave a comment or review. I hope this novel is fun, provocative but above all fun. Enjoy. Yours truly, James Paul Addington PS I will release at least two chapters a week, or one really long chapter. Concerning the tags: The story is primarily Fantasy with Wuxia influence in some elements. Romance won't happen for the first two arcs or so (roughly 40 chapters), I want to build the world before I do that. Tragedy is because of an event that occurs in the book, not the tone of the book. The book is more lighthearted. Slice of Life doesn't occur till the third arc (the romance happens during that arc as well). Magic will also show up more in later arcs, but appears throughout. Reincarnation it's not a reincarnation like in the traditional sense, but it has a similar concept.

The Core And The Wardens of Eternity
What is the Core, they asked me... It's the light that pushes the darkness away, a bastion of justice, a safe keeper of life. It grooms love and tolerance, embraces science, fights ignorance, sentences it to die a slow and tragic death. The Core... it's something that can't be destroyed for destroying it is to terminate the time and space itself. When the stuck-in-a-dark-age world of Zanria goes offline, the Core sends one of its experienced agents to find out what is going on and to try to reestablish a mysteriously severed connection. However, all his training and experience might come way short as the world sinks in war and chaos with different races and clans fighting for the Star of Bardan, the ward rumored to possess enough supernatural power to create and destroy entire worlds. *** I just changed the name of the series, from 'the Nexus' to 'the Core'. Somehow it just sounds more right to me. This is the first story, and it has a medieval fantasy setting. But, eventually, this is going to turn into Isekai series with elements of LitRPG. So, my future books might include worlds with advanced technologies that might be more in SciFi, including Steampunk, genre. The first book might start slow, but after a few chapters, it should all be properly set up, and by then you should get the feel of how it will all flow. Also, I plan to introduce different story threats that should spread out and criss-cross in the future. Hopefully, I will not complicate it too much, and that it will all read good. I am planning to continue to add chapters to the main storyline here, but I'm also starting a new story threat in the Core series called The Recordings of Raan. There is also a side story The Memoires of Eisen that's exclusive on Patreon for those who would like to support me.
