Time: [2100]
Year: [May 1, 1245]
POV: [Johnny]
The wind blows stronger as the fog gets even thicker, as soon as we started to rely solely on night vision goggles the nightfall started and the stench of blood grows weaker. The man that we rescued seemed to be very confused, as to how we can effectively traverse the terrain in the dark, the man remains silent about it, but as time goes by he keeps on looking at the south. My men and I couldn't go any further so we decided to open our lights and ask him. The man was very surprised as if it's his first time seeing such a bright light, then we used a hand signal to ask him what was he worried about. The man replied with a hand signal at the south, it seems that he wants us to go there, it seems there are more people there, so we then decided to split up into six companies, two were going to accompany the man towards the base, and the remaining four will go to the south and save the people there.
As darkness grows even stronger, we saw a faint light coming from a distance, it seems we're getting near the village, we then saw people in chains, which made our blood boil as our nation was once a slave state, various abuses was once handed down to the slaves, but since then a law was passed banning slavery, but we have to keep it to ourselves as this is a very underdeveloped world, where the industrial revolution hasn't even begun yet, which makes it that slavery would be a natural thing to do in this world. We then decided to follow the man holding the slaves, after a while, we then decided to save the slaves, so we then fired at the men holding them in prison, *BANG* a man fell to his knees and died, they were petrified and confused as to what is happening, we then fired after one another, then the people who have kept the slaves keeps on falling to the ground, until to the last one where the last man attempted to flee, but fate isn't with him as seconds later he was shot dead on the ground.

After a few moments of silence, we then approached the frightened slaves, they were fearful of us, but we give out our best shot on using hand signals, they laughed a bit at our pitiful hand signals, but they were still afraid of us, but they now looked a bit relieved that they weren't going to be sold off on a slave market, we then handed out a few more of the foods that we brought, they were quite surprised at the taste of the food and the hospitality that we're giving, so we then signalled that it is fine, that such things as normal at our nation, they were quite even more relieved to what they saw, but they were still quite concerned as to what was going to happen to them, but we're not going to do anything to them.
As a few more minutes passed of us trying to calm down the civilians, a man came in front of us, it's as if he was trying to say something.
"(Please, help our village there, it's being raided by the enemy)"
He was pointing further to the south, and it was as if he was very worried and almost tearing up, so we then decided to investigate the south further, we sent the two companies to escort the civilians back to our base, and us the remaining two companies to investigate further south, but we have to be careful and to remember the path that we're walking in as the trees grow larger, and is increasing in numbers, getting lost in the woods is a very feasible outcome, we mustn't let that happen, we can't become the first casualty at the new world, there are too many things to explore. After thinking for a bit more time, we then started to see smoke rising from the sky, and the stench of blood and iron is growing even stronger by the second.

We then decided to take up position and observe the village, there we saw civilians being killed mercilessly, we decided to take a closer position where we can see them, about 250m from the village. After a few more minutes of thinking of what to do, we then concluded to fire our rifles, so we then fired, *BANG*, the shockwave runs through the entire village as something was about to happen, *BANG* *BANG* multiple men are falling to their knees and into their death, and as they were getting even more confused, I then shouted.
"ASSAULT!!"
We marched forward at a very slow pace, while firing our rifles, as they began to panic, we didn't give them a chance to escape, and so we chased them to the end of the village and until to the last man alive, the raiders seem to be wearing a pale colour of yellow cloth with leather armour, it truly seems that this area is in a state of war. Poor civilians have nothing to do about the war, yet they are the ones who suffer the most. As we are rounding up the civilians to explain to them that we're going to save them, then suddenly one of the dead men lying in the ground came back up, he then said.
"(DIE!)"
I tried to block him to no avail, but I still didn't succeed and was stabbed in the thigh, so I then brought out my handgun and fired at his damn face, he then laid down to the ground lifeless. After the unfortunate encounter I called for the medic to treat my wounds, fortunately, I would still be able to walk, but it would take a long time for me to recover.
As the companies started calming and rounding up the civilian, we then saw a woman that must have looked like a noble of some sort, she looks like she demands better treatment, but we could careless, we will treat everyone equally, no matter the social status they possess, the woman looks disappointed, but we could care less, but we still have a problem, for the third time we have civilians laugh at our hand signs, but they can still understand it to some degree. After some more explaining to the civilians, they have finally calmed down a little bit, though not enough to remove their fear from us, because our weapons were over loud and unnatural of their land, so they were naturally horrified, but we couldn't do anything about it, but I believe sooner enough they will trust us more. After we handed out some more foods and drinks to the civilians which were quite surprised about the taste of the food, they found it quite tasty, as if they don't have any spices in their country, and after they drink up we rounded them up and escorted them back to the base, which they were quite satisfied to be saved.

The Rocky Shore
This is a LitRPG series. Every story you read here takes place in the same virtual world, with the same rules and limitations. Characters will travel, explore vast and dangerous realms, overcome obstacles, meet one another, enter into conflicts with one another, forge alliances, make horrible mistakes, and occasionally just die. A technological singularity has been achieved, and humanity has been trapped in a virtual world by a super-intelligent, self-improving artificial intelligence. This program is not malicious at all. In fact, it desires nothing except the happiness and fulfillment of every human it has copied into itself. If its decisions seem strange to you, that's only because its reasoning is far beyond ours. It recognizes that humans cannot be happy without enemies to overcome and goals to achieve, as well as the possibility of failure and death. The world it has created may be heaven or hell, depending on the free choices of the people it contains. The non-player characters who live in this realm have no idea that they are part of a vast computer system. They seem real enough, but there is no way to tell if they are truly self-aware. Even the system that created them isn't certain. This is world in which all the things that humans are used to dealing with in the abstract: skills, talents, knowledge, reputation, social status, morality, even love, exist as readable statistics that players can see and interact with objectively. This has many curious and complex effects on how people perceive themselves and the world around them. A few quick notes on the system: -Death is permanent -The system interface can only be accessed at certain locations. -Magic of diverse kinds is available and useful, but is not a good substitute for skills, physicallity, or mental prowess. Non-magical characters are common and competitive. -There is no inventory system. Characters must physically carry everything they wish to have on their person. -Healing is slow and difficult. Magical Healing is all but unheard of. Protagonists: Raymond Garrison- A man in his late twenties who used to work as a forklift operator in Idaho. His path leads him to work as a mercenary, protecting a small community of humans and goblins from the Seelie Fae who wish to exterminate them. Patricia Chandler- A elderly British woman who arrives in this new world with her grandson Kyle and her granddaughter Elizabeth. Never having dealt with rpg game mechanics before, she is in for a rough time, but she is determined to keep her grandkids alive in a world full of danger and evil. Jamil Mesbah- An Egyptian woman who once worked as a technical writer. Her path leads into a vast and hostile forest, where she must master both her magical abilities and her survival skills in order to succeed. Enjoy your travels, friends.
